Chapter 347 My Son's Place, I Can Come and Go As I Please

He Zhangcheng rushed back and saw his daughter clutching her clothes, hiding behind An'an and the others. An'an was peeking out, curiously looking at the stranger.

"mom……"

The old woman nodded gently, her expression finally softening, and she even managed a smile. "Zhang Cheng, it's been a long time since I've seen you come here on your own initiative. You won't blame me, will you?"

"How come?"

The moment the words left her mouth, Xiaoting turned her face away and even snorted to express her dissatisfaction. The old woman naturally heard this as well, and her expression immediately turned cold as she frowned and looked critical.

“An’an, what you did was wrong. It was impolite. Didn’t your mother teach you that?”

The following sentence, "Your mother didn't teach you," was filled with malice. Even a child as old as An'an could hear it. Xiaoting pouted, her face becoming even more stubborn.

The old woman said, "You should apologize to me. I'm your elder, your grandmother. Even if your mother didn't teach you, you're going to school now..."

An'an turned her head to look at Xiaoting. The child couldn't explain why, but she knew that An'an didn't like Xiaoting's grandmother.

Xiaoting and her grandmother exchanged a glance, both of them understanding each other's thoughts. They breathed a sigh of relief. Xiaoting suddenly felt less upset about being criticized by her grandmother in public. Many people didn't like her grandmother, and what she said was wrong.

He Zhangcheng wanted his mother to stop talking, saying that Xiaoting was just a child, and it was okay for her to make a mistake; he would talk to her about it later.

Ma Mingyue noticed that her cousin's expression was off, so she quickly went over and hugged her aunt's arm, acting coquettishly: "Auntie, I'm hungry. Let's have my cousin take me to eat. Didn't you say you were going to cook his specialty dishes for him?"

Liu He thought so too, and withdrew the serious expression from her face.

He Zhangcheng breathed a sigh of relief and stepped forward to take their luggage. Ma Mingyue led Liu He by the hand and walked ahead.

"...Xiaoting?"

He Zhangcheng tried to take his daughter's hand, but Xiaoting twisted her neck and dodged backward, not even looking at him.

She went back to her old ways, and didn't even want to see him. The two days they had spent together had vanished. He Zhangcheng pursed his lips slightly.

Liu He snorted coldly, "Let's go."

This child has been taught by her mother to be indifferent to everyone in her family. Who owes them anything?

The more she thought about it, the more upset she became. Her expression grew colder and colder, and her pace quickened. Ma Mingyue glanced back worriedly.

When Ye Man learned that her mother-in-law had arrived, she sighed and came downstairs to greet her. She saw her mother-in-law leading Ma Mingyue ahead, and her expression didn't last long.

Liu He rolled her eyes when she saw Xiaoting's expression at that moment.

They're cut from the same cloth. We were really unlucky to have married such a thing into our family; it's a disgrace to the family.

"Sister-in-law, don't be angry, Auntie just..."

Ye Man took a deep breath. What did she say? When did she get angry again?

Before she could even speak, she saw He Zhangcheng hurriedly squeeze to the front with his package, looking at Ye Man with an apologetic and cautious expression.

"Mom just came to see me."

“This is my son’s place. As his mother, I can come and go as I please. Do I need your approval, as his daughter-in-law, to come?”

Liu He clenched her fists, her eyes filled with anger. How dare she say this was her son's place?

"Alright, this is your home. As your mother, I can come and go as I please. If anyone else has a problem with it, they can get out."

After saying that, Liu He gestured for her son to go up and lead Ye Man away, no longer speaking to or looking at her. Ma Mingyue stayed by her aunt's side, carefully trying to comfort her. Their voices occasionally drifted down, and Ye Man rolled her eyes inelegantly; she hadn't said anything at all.

After He Zhangcheng led his mother to the room and put everything down, he came down to find the mother and daughter. He saw Xiaoting clutching her mother's clothes and resting her head on her thigh. The two were talking about something. Ye Man looked apologetic and gently poked a hole in her daughter's cheek. Xiaoting chuckled softly, as if she wasn't so sad anymore.

"I……"

He stepped forward, about to speak, when he noticed that the mother and daughter, upon hearing his voice, instantly suppressed all expressions on their faces, looking at him with a faint, unconscious wariness. He Zhangcheng felt a pang of sadness in his heart.
