Chapter 348 When will Mom come back?

She was actually a little upset. When her son came back, he didn't even ask her if he had eaten well at home these past few days. As soon as he got back, he said that she shouldn't have spent all the money and brought up all those old grievances. Even now, this meal was only for that little brat to eat.

Before, my son never cared about his two grandsons at home. But this time, I don't know what possessed him, he's been so good to this little grandson. Isn't he afraid that he'll be an ingrate like his eldest grandson and run back to his mother when he grows up?

She eats and drinks cold water at home every day, and now she has to steam rice for him.

Chen Wei had called his youngest son away on the way. He was only wearing the clothes he was wearing. Now that the child was back, he couldn't be without a change of clothes. He rummaged through the closet and found that neither of his sons had any clothes left, so he pulled out his own old clothes.

"Son, just make do with these for now. I'll have your grandma alter them for you, and I'll make you new clothes next year."

Chen Junsheng readily agreed. He sat inside for a while, then went outside to help his grandmother with chores, since his mother used to do all the cooking at home.

Her son had just pulled her outside and told her about the current situation. Now that the boy was staying at home, he might be able to bring his mother back. Even if that didn't work, Chen Wei still had to treat him well. At his age, let alone finding another woman, even if he did find one and raised her, he wouldn't be able to enjoy his happiness for many years. It would be better for him to raise his youngest son so he could take care of him in his old age.

Even though Yang Chunhua was unwilling, she understood that this was indeed the case. When her son got old and could no longer earn money, who would take care of her?

Moreover, she had to admit in her heart that Guan Lian was indeed better off in this house than not, and she wished she could come back.

"You don't need to come out. Go back inside and sit down. Grandma will cook for you."

As soon as he came out, Yang Chunhua quickly invited him inside. People around looked on with surprise. Anyone who didn't know better would think she was a wonderful grandmother who doted on her grandson and wouldn't let him do any work.

Everyone knows that Yang Chunhua didn't really care about her two grandsons before; Guan Lian did all the work for them.

Chen Junsheng stood in the stairwell for a while, wanting to go down and play with his old playmates, but a neighbor saw him and secretly pulled him aside.

"Young man, why did you come back alone with your dad? Where's your mom?"

"I heard your mom found a new job in Northeast China and finally managed to bring your brother away. Why did you come back with your dad?"

When Xiao Liang left, Chen Wei threw a huge tantrum at home and even went to find Guan Lian's parents. If it weren't for the help of the neighbors, the two groups might have started fighting.

"It's strange, where did your dad find out your address? Your grandparents certainly wouldn't have told him, so none of us knew anything."

Chen Junsheng stammered and didn't say anything; he couldn't very well tell them that he had secretly called home to tell his father.

He just wanted to come back. He preferred life here, and his father had promised to treat his mother well. The teacher had said that as long as a child makes a mistake, they are still a good child if they can correct it. He should give his father a chance.

"Alright, child, go back now. Behave yourself in this house and see when your mother comes back to take you away."

“If your dad doesn’t feed you, come find us neighbors. Even if everyone is struggling, you’re just a child and you can’t eat much.”

Everyone used to have a good relationship with Guan Lian, so naturally they were willing to take care of him.

After Chen Junsheng returned, life went on like this. His father soon started working. He was usually at home, and Yang Chunhua was also at home. Although she was always grumbling, she tried her best to control herself in front of her grandson.

Chen Junsheng could tell that his father and grandmother were treating him much better than before; his father would even bring him snacks when he came home from get off work.

"How is Sister Guan? Still can't get in touch with her?"

They went to the train station to inquire about the timetable of the train they were taking. After getting off the train, Guan Lian immediately called them, but Chen Wei never answered the phone.

"……not yet"

"Don't worry, we've already sent a letter home. We should get a reply in a few days. As long as Xiaosheng is alright and nothing bad happens, that's all that matters."

Guan Lianqiang mustered her spirits and said, "I know."

She didn't call Chen Wei again today, but she called her parents. Her parents were shocked to learn that Chen Wei had actually gone to look for her.

"Well, don't worry, Mom and Dad will go find Xiaosheng later."

Guan Lian's parents stayed in the countryside for a few days before returning. Unexpectedly, Chen Wei found his daughter's place not long after. He really is a persistent ghost.

They inquired around Chen Wei's neighborhood for a while and sure enough, they found out that he had returned with his grandson.

Yang Chunhua went out to buy groceries that day, and Guan Lian's parents rushed over.

"This humble student?"

Chen Junsheng pushed open the door, and standing outside were his maternal grandparents.

"Young man, why are you back? Have your dad and grandma been treating you well these past few days? Have you been eating enough?"

"Did you bring any clothes? Don't worry, your mom will come back to pick you up. If all else fails, just like your brother did, your grandpa can take you there."

Guan Lian's parents watched their two grandsons grow up, and they felt extremely sorry for him whenever they saw him, always thinking that Chen Wei would treat him badly.

"Grandma, I'm fine. Dad and Grandma are treating me very well, and I've been eating well these past few days. Don't worry about me."

"...That's good. Your mom was so worried. She called your dad but he wouldn't come to pick her up, so she had to come to us."

Chen Junsheng clenched his fist, his voice filled with hope, "When will Mom come back?"
