Yang Chunhua was bewildered. The sharp pain on her face made her even more desperate to grab the woman's hair and pull it straight down. Soon, she had a handful of dry hair like wild grass in her hand.
"Where did this madman come from? I'm going to kill you!"
After saying that, she threw her hair to the ground. The old woman was not to be outdone. Her long, yellowed nails were sharp, and it seemed that there was mud under her nails. She suddenly reached out and grabbed her. Yang Chunhua could not avoid it and her face burned with several long marks. When she touched it, it was already bleeding.
"ah"
The two fought back and forth until they both had several bloody wounds on their faces and stood on either side like old oxen, panting heavily, before finally stopping.
"Who are you? I don't know you at all—"
Before she could finish speaking, she saw her son, wearing only his underwear, being pressed to the ground, his face bruised and swollen from several punches, with even a shoe print on it. Yang Chunhua felt her head buzzing.
She screamed a few times and immediately pounced on him.
"Awei, what's wrong? What did they do to you? They killed you! They killed you!"
The short woman spat to the side, and the two men holding Chen Wei clenched their fists, ready to attack him again. Yang Chunhua quickly stepped forward to block her son.
"Who are you? What's going on? Is there no law? Why are you hitting my son?"
Chen Wei hissed and tried to speak, but the movement aggravated the wound on his face, causing him to grimace for a while, his mouth filled with the taste of blood.
Several low, despairing sobs could be heard from the side. Yang Chunhua silently turned her head and saw a woman huddled in the corner.
She was wearing a garment, her hair was disheveled, and she was huddled in a corner, shivering. There were still scratch marks on her bare shoulders.
"What happened? What happened? Your son molested my daughter! I'm calling the police to have you arrested. This is rape, and you'll be shot!"
"Impossible!" Yang Chunhua cried out sharply and quickly went over to pull her son up.
Chen Wei was still dazed after sitting up from the ground. He didn't know why he had acted so impulsively. Xiaoxia had been ignoring him these past few days and had instead started looking at another man. Hearing that the two families were about to get married, he was really angry and got drunk again that day.
Upon seeing her, I impulsively grabbed her, and the two seemed to have some argument. I have no recollection of what happened after that; I only remember throwing myself on top of her, and then suddenly a few people burst in from outside, pinned him down, and started hitting him.
Chen Wei was punched several times on the head by these people. His already dizzy head became even more disoriented. His face was also stepped on. He lay on the ground, panting heavily like an old dog struggling to breathe.
I vaguely heard my mother's voice and then opened my eyes.
"My poor daughter, she finally escaped her misery and was about to meet a good man. We were even looking for a good match for you, but this bastard ruined it!"
"Bullshit, impossible! This vixen seduced my son; she wants to marry into our family!"
The vixen was still relentless; as long as Yang Chunhua was around, she would never succeed.
Liu Xia's mother went over and straightened her clothes. Liu Xia buried her face in her mother's arms and cried, "Mom, I don't want to live anymore. He has already agreed to come and propose marriage the day after tomorrow. How can I face him?"
Yang Chunhua felt like her head was filled with mush. Her son hadn't uttered a single word yet, and these people had already thrown all the blame at her.
"What utter bullshit! Are you trying to die? You're not some virgin anymore, you've already laid two eggs."
You shameless vixen, I told you you're not allowed to marry into our family, and you still come up with these crooked ideas to seduce my son in secret. Do you think that if you sleep with him, I'll let you marry into the family?
"Pah, bullshit! Even if you're pregnant, we don't even know whose child it is! Our family won't acknowledge it."
Anyway, Yang Chunhua had already made up her mind that her family had fallen into a trap. The two men held down her son and beat him until he had no way to explain himself. She herself had been dragged in by this old woman and beaten until her face was covered in bruises. Wasn't she just trying to force them to admit to this by brute force?
Yang Chunhua wouldn't admit it. She thought this kind of woman was trash, and that her son would find her dirty even if he slept with her.
"You wretched woman who brings bad luck to men, do you think your family is some kind of high-class family that we would go to great lengths to marry into? Bah! You should go out and ask around. With your and your son's reputation, no one would dare to marry you!"
Your son used to date my daughter on his own, but he lacked the responsibility to marry her, and then you, this old hag, stirred things up. We've accepted that he made a mistake in choosing her.
"My daughter was finally about to get married, and now you're trying to ruin her? Your family is truly vicious! Aren't you afraid the King of Hell will come and drag you down with you in the middle of the night?"
Standing next to Chen Wei, Liu Xia's brother also had a pained expression on his face, looking fierce and as if he wanted to kill Chen Wei on the spot.
"Mom, kill this brat. Anyway, nobody knows about this today, so the marriage can still go ahead!"
After saying that, she was about to dislocate Chen Wei's arm when Liu Xia's mother objected, "No way! That would put you on a murder charge. Send him to the police station for indecent assault and rape, and have someone shoot him!"
The two men were about to attack him; one was going to dislocate his hands and the other his feet. Yang Chunhua clung to her son like a mother who had died, preventing them from moving.
"Get out of my way, all of you! If you dare touch my son, I'll fight you to the death!"
Seeing that they were serious, and considering that he was only wearing underwear and his face was swollen, Chen Wei quickly knelt down and begged for mercy.
