Chapter 68 You two get along well

Tian Qiaozhu was very happy to take An'an out to buy groceries, leaving the couple alone at home.

Song Qing had never entertained him alone at home before, and the two of them sat there, not knowing what to do.

Would you like some snacks?

Lu Yang shook his head. "Can I come to your room and take a look?"

There's nothing wrong with that. She used to come back to stay in this room often before. After she gave up the apartment allocated by her work unit, she moved all her belongings back here.

Song Qing's family has three rooms, and the house has a good orientation and layout. Her room is the smallest in the family, while her two older brothers' rooms are the largest. Later, they were divided into two rooms so that they could stay when they bring their children back to live.

This wasn't Lu Yang's first time in her room; he had only glanced at it briefly before. Besides, his feelings this time were quite different.

He touched the items on the bookshelf with great interest. The room was small, with a 1.5-meter bed, a small desk in front of the window, a wardrobe in the corner, and a bookshelf nailed to the wall with wooden boards.

“My dad made this. He also made several wooden boxes, and he put the books he didn’t need in the boxes.”

The room was filled with traces of Song Qing's meticulous arrangement. The bookshelves were filled with all sorts of small toys, such as clay dolls made of eggshells and carved wooden figures.

Seeing his interest, Song Qing introduced him to the toys, which she had collected one by one when she was a child. Her older brothers, who were a few years older than her, had given her the toys they no longer played with.

“An’an is also very interested in these things.”

However, Song Qing plans to give these toys to her when she is a little older, as they are all her mother's childhood memories.

"What is this?"

"A slingshot?" Song Qing was a little confused. Isn't this just a slingshot? She had forgotten how she got this toy; it was probably when she was several years old.

Lu Yang was very familiar with that slingshot because he had made it.

He was two years older than Song Qing and had his own small team in the compound. These guys never used to play with girls.

Once, several groups of children in the compound got into a fierce fight over the right to use the open space near the basketball court.

Song Qing also had her own group of friends at that time, and she had influence in the group because she had two older brothers.

Most of them were girls, and two years younger than Lu Yang and his friends, so they couldn't beat them in the end.

Song Qing was very proud, so when she lost, she went home feeling wronged. They had originally wanted to use that spot for jump rope, but now they didn't even jump rope and went home to cry to Tian Qiaozhu.

Song Hai had done the Lu family a favor in the past, and the two families had some dealings. Lu Yang was afraid that his father would find out and think that he had bullied his sister, so he threw a slingshot in front of her when she came home.

The slingshot was exquisitely made, and Song Qing fell in love with it immediately. After asking around and finding no one who claimed it as hers, she took it home.

Lu Yang was delighted to see the slingshot. He hadn't expected that she would still have it. It seemed as if they were destined to have been connected long ago.

Song Qing was standing next to the bookshelf. He quietly reached out and hooked her fingers, pulling her hand into his own. After succeeding, he acted as if nothing had happened and continued looking at the trinkets.

Song Qing has become somewhat immune to this over the past few days. Ever since that night on the train, he's been making a lot of little quirks.

He likes to get close to her whenever they're alone, either hooking their fingers together or fiddling with their cuffs, all while maintaining a serious expression.

She felt a little uncomfortable. She had never been so intimate with a man in the room where she had grown up. The door to the room was not closed, and she kept looking outside, afraid that Tian Qiaozhu would suddenly appear.

"Mom went to buy groceries and won't be back for a while."

Lu Yang noticed that she kept looking at the door and assumed she was worried about Tian Qiaozhu coming back, so he quickly explained.

Song Qing glared at him and simply ordered him to bring out the box from under the bed.

“I remember I used to hide a lot of comic books, which I could take back to show An’an.” She was a bit bossy when she was little, and her two older brothers spoiled her, so she would leave the comic books they bought here after she finished reading them.

In recent years, the comic books printed have become less diverse in content than before, almost all of them being stories about the War of Resistance against Japan, whereas in the past there were also various interesting stories.

I simply packed everything I needed to bring into a small box.

An'an and the others hadn't returned yet, so Lu Yang took them out and looked through them while tidying up.

Some of the comic books here look somewhat familiar; they were the ones he had lost to her brother before, and now they've returned to his daughter's hands.

Song Qing sat to the side and watched him for a while, and soon found it quite amusing.

These are all things that children like, and I didn't expect him to like them all. Also, when they were at the furniture factory, he couldn't take his eyes off the woodworking tools.

Whether it was their previous interactions or the past few days, she felt that Lu Yang was a capable man. He was not only gentle to his wife and daughter, but also took good care of his younger sister.

He didn't want He Shuyue and Lu Ronghui to become enemies, but he wouldn't hesitate when the two of them clashed. He knew that He Shuyue was in the wrong, so he decisively sided with his sister.

They wouldn't say they were afraid of upsetting both sides, so they just hesitated and dragged things out in the middle.

He handled things very cleanly and was extremely protective of his own people.

An'an really likes her father. Although there are often some minor conflicts between the two, An'an has indeed become more outgoing and cheerful when she is with him.

"Dad!" An'an exclaimed as she rushed into the groceries after her grandma returned from grocery shopping.

"Mom, can I have these?"

After getting her mother's permission, An'an sat on the ground, and the father and daughter simply started dividing the things on the ground.

"Daddy, I want this."

“You can’t read yet, you won’t understand.” Lu Yang cruelly put all the books into the box and told his daughter that they were his.

"snort"

The father and daughter gradually figured out their own way of getting along, sometimes teasing each other, and sometimes being so close that they would share the same pants.

An'an likes to act coquettishly with Lu Yang, and Lu Yang usually goes along with her, but sometimes he teases her like he does now.

Song Qing went to the kitchen to help Tian Qiaozhu cook, but unexpectedly, Ms. Tian Qiaozhu glanced at her lightly.

"It seems you two have gotten along well during this time."

"..."

"Look at you laughing like that. Before, the two of you would stay close together and not say a word. It would have been freezing to death if you were standing between you." She was exaggerating on purpose. The two of them had never had a chance to be alone together before.

But it's pretty much the same, cold and indifferent.

The better the two of them got along, the happier she was; even when Song Hai came back, she would give him a pleasant look.

They prepared a large table of dishes, and Song Hai and his two sons poured wine for Lu Yang. Since he had finally come back, he had to drink his fill.

Tian Qiaozhu was in an exceptionally good mood today, ignoring them and even taking out a bottle of wine that had been sitting in the cabinet for a long time.

The two sisters-in-law pulled Song Qing aside and started asking her about the situation in Northeast China. By the time she found out, Lu Yang was already drunk.
