Chapter 1: First Meeting
City A is a big city. Jiang Bai has lived, studied, and even worked in City A since college. In the first year after graduation, she found a job with relatively simple work content and a low salary. As a finance major and socially anxious, she didn't have many first choices, but she was relatively satisfied.
After working for a year, she resigned and took a job with a higher salary but not an easy job. She has been working in this company for three years now. Her salary has increased once and she has been doing more and more work. In order to save money, she gave up taking the subway and bought a small electric scooter. She can save half of the money for commuting to and from get off work, and she can also ride it when she goes out, which is very convenient.
September was the start of the school year, and there happened to be a middle school on Jiang Bai's way to work. During the summer vacation, there were not many cars passing by. But since September, there have been many private cars parked on the roadside every morning for parents to pick up their children, and the time it takes her to get to the company has increased by five minutes.
That Thursday, she rode her electric scooter out as usual. She had received an electric scooter helmet as a gift when she bought the scooter, but it didn't look good, so she bought a new one with better quality and stronger wind protection. Then she put Tom and Jerry stickers on the scooter and the helmet. She liked cute things like Tom and Jerry, and looking at cute things would make her feel better.
The sky was blue, there were few cars on the road ahead, not many houses in the urban-rural fringe area, and even some green hills. The sun shone warmly on her body, and even the small cars competing for the road with her didn't seem so annoying anymore.
When they were almost at the middle school, there were more cars on the road. Jiang Bai looked from a distance and it seemed that there was a traffic jam. She drove her electric scooter at a speed of more than 20 yards and followed the cars forward. Fifty meters ahead, turn right and it would be the road to the middle school, but she wanted to go straight. Jiang Bai held the handlebars and raised her head to look forward. It seemed that two cars had collided. After satisfying her curiosity, she continued to move forward.
Unexpectedly, a high-riding Mercedes-Benz SUV approached her from the left without turning on the turn signal. Jiang Bai turned right, and the SUV also turned right. She honked the horn several times. In a trance, Jiang Bai seemed to hear someone say, "Mom, you're going to hit Hello Kitty!"
The SUV seemed to come to its senses and braked suddenly.
The electric scooter was half tilted, and Jiang Bai's right foot was on the ground, almost stepping into the green belt next to it. The small branches poked her body and it was a bit painful. She straightened the body of the car, lifted the lens in front of the helmet, and looked up.
The car window rolled down, and a woman in her thirties or forties sitting in the driver's seat leaned over to look at her. The woman smiled sheepishly: "Sorry, I was distracted just now. Are you okay?"
Jiang Bai was stunned for a moment, then she waved her hand and said, "It's okay." Then she rode her electric scooter forward.
A head popped out from the back seat of the SUV. The girl's young face was even more beautiful than the woman in the driver's seat. She leaned over the back of the driver's seat and asked, "Mom, what are you doing?"
The woman smiled and pointed at the accident scene nearby. "I was so busy watching the scene that I forgot to check if there was a car on the right..."
Beep beep beep!
The car behind urged her to start the car, and she turned to the right. The girl sat back and looked out the window. The electric scooter had already run away, but she could still vaguely see its blue silhouette. She recalled the expression on the face just now and was a little dazed for a moment.
Jiang Bai took a deep breath. Fortunately, there was no car in front of her. Fortunately, she was not driving fast, and she drove even slower when crossing the intersection, otherwise there would have been an accident.
There was another intersection. She looked to the right, the sunlight dazzled her eyes, there was no car, she drove through the intersection, and took off the lens of her helmet with her left hand. She was so nervous that she forgot to put it on. As expected, she was so distracted while riding a bike. She almost had a car accident after taking a look at the hustle and bustle. Jiang Bai breathed a sigh of relief and walked forward.
But the woman was pretty, and the girl was pretty too. It was the first time Jiang Bai saw such a pretty mother and daughter.
But Hello Kitty, you are Hello Kitty! She is clearly Tom and Jerry!
After arriving at the company, Jiang Bai bought breakfast downstairs and caught up with the clocking-in time. Then she turned on the computer before her boss came. A few minutes later, the boss passed by her workstation. Jiang Bai then got up to get some water and had breakfast.
Before she finished her meal, three messages came to her work software, one group message from her boss and two business messages. She quickly finished her breakfast and threw herself into her work. Financial work was so complicated, but Jiang Bai had become accustomed to this working mode and was even very good at it, so she was very happy even though her salary was not very high.
"Teacher Jiang, please help me review this process. I need it urgently. Thank you very much!"
Jiang Bai opened the chat box and replied, "Please expedite the process. Expedited procedures will be reviewed first."
This kind of thing happens every day, and Jiang Bai is used to it.
The Third Middle School of City A was the one Jiang Bai had passed by. Lan Shuqing had just entered his third year of high school and was still a day student. School had just started a short time ago, and the seniors had been having fun all summer, chattering in the classroom until it gave him a headache.
Lan Shuqing lay on the desk with a pile of books on her left hand. She was flipping through her Chinese textbook boredly. The woman's expression appeared in her mind again, those clear eyes that were a little surprised, a little surprised, and a little evasive. She was sure that the woman saw her and looked away the moment she saw her.
For some reason, Lan Shuqing felt a little concerned. She supported her head and sighed softly.
No. 3 Middle School is a well-known and good school in City A. As the provincial capital, City A has no shortage of educational resources or outstanding students. However, the college entrance examination is a nationwide competition, and everyone is trying their best to win a place in various majors in universities across the country. Most of the students in the class, including Lan Shuqing, aim to go to Tsinghua University and Peking University.
The students in the top class are all very smart, and Lan Shuqing is firmly in the top ten of the class.
Ding-a-ling!
The bell rang for the end of get out of class, and the girl sitting in front of her called out to her, "Shuqing!" Lan Shuqing raised her head.
"Do you want to go to the bathroom?"
The seats in the class are all in single rows. More than 40 students sit in only five rows in the classroom. It looks quite spacious, but there are textbooks on both sides of everyone's seats, and there are many learning materials packed in large boxes. The single rows of seats feel a bit crowded.
Lan Shu nodded slightly, "Go."
Xie Rong was the daughter of their Chinese teacher. She was usually very lively and Lan Shuqing got along well with her. After leaving the classroom, Xie Rong took Lan Shuqing's arm and said, "Pangpang Bai's physics lectures made me almost dizzy. I need to take a break."
Their physics teacher was a 165cm tall, slightly plump, and very fair-skinned man. Coincidentally, his last name was Bai, so they just called him Bai Pangpang. Lan Shuqing didn't respond, and Xie Rong looked at her with some confusion. "Shuqing, what's wrong with you? You look absent-minded?"
Lan Shuqing pulled himself out of the morning's incident and asked, "Have you finished the physics paper I gave you last time?"
Xie Rong's face fell, "I've finished it, but I can't do the next few."
"Then give it to me first, let me take a look."
"good."
At six o'clock in the afternoon, Jiang Bai finally finished her work for the day and was ready to leave. Her boss finally did not ask her to submit the PPT in a hurry, so she was in a better mood today. She punched the clock out and rode her electric scooter home. When she passed by the middle school, she bought a braised vegetarian dish to take home. She was a vegetarian lover, a vegetarian lover because of money.
Just when Jiang Bai was buying braised dishes, Lan Shuqing happened to be eating at the skewers restaurant next door. Jiang Bai didn't see her, but Lan Shuqing recognized her based on the sticker on her helmet. She was the woman her mother almost hit while driving this morning.
At nine o'clock, the evening study session ended at No. 3 Middle School. When Lan Shuqing returned home, her mother was still awake, watching TV in the living room. Lan Shuqing sat over and said with a smile, "Mom, can you take me to school early tomorrow?"
Lan Shuqing's mother looked at her doubtfully, "Huh? Don't you dislike getting up so early?"
