CHAPTER 40
"Qin Feiyan?"
"You're finally awake!"
The fallen figure turned around, revealing herself to be Qin Feiyan, whom she had been kidnapped and thought had met a terrible end. To her surprise, she appeared before her unharmed.
Qin Feiyan lunged forward, and Sheng Qing caught her tightly, hearing her soft sobs from within his arms.
Sheng Qingchao cast a questioning glance at Blake, who stood to the side, while the latter wore a smug expression, waiting for praise.
What's going on?
"Thank goodness." Sheng Qing pulled Qin Feiyan to check her over and over again, making sure that no one was missing an arm or a leg, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Qin Feiyu?" Qin Feiyan released Sheng Qing, her eyes filled with worry.
“He…” Sheng Qing wanted to hide it, but after thinking for a moment, she told the truth, and didn’t forget to glance at Blake.
Blake quickly put on a wronged expression: "It's not my fault."
Upon hearing Blake's reply, Qin Feiyan suddenly shuddered.
"If it wasn't you, then who was it?" Sheng Qing questioned.
"Sister, do you really not trust me? Do I need to do all that nonsense?" Blake shrugged.
Indeed, Blake had no reason to. Sheng Qing turned her gaze back to Qin Feiyan, but the latter's panicked expression did not subside.
"what is going on?"
“It wasn’t him, that person is already dead.” Qin Feiyan’s eyes were lowered as she spoke, then she glanced quickly at Blake before lowering them again, her tone hesitant, “But…”
“They’ve been contaminated, and your friend was lucky to escape.” Blake’s gaze lingered on Qin Feiyan for a few seconds.
"I want to go back and check on Qin Feiyu's situation." Qin Feiyan stared intently at Sheng Qing, as if she were the one who could make the decision.
“Yes,” Blake answered before Sheng Qing could speak. “As long as my sister agrees.”
These words made it sound as if Sheng Qing was the one who started it all, instantly throwing her thoughts into disarray and banishing any doubts she had been pondering.
"What reason could I possibly have not to allow it?" Sheng Qing retorted.
"Sister, aren't you bored being here all alone?" Blake's questioning expression was extremely sincere.
"Why should I stay here?" Sheng Qing asked, puzzled.
“Because I want you to stay here,” Blake said matter-of-factly.
“You…” Sheng Qing was furious and was about to yell at him, but then she felt it was inappropriate and finally only uttered a few words, “Don’t push your luck.”
"I don't care~" Although his tone and expression were like he was being coquettish, Sheng Qing inexplicably felt an invisible pressure and was momentarily stunned. She didn't know when Blake had become stronger.
This oppressive aura was clearly not just directed at Sheng Qing; Qin Feiyu also felt the pressure immediately, and beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
“If you want her to leave, you can do so anytime. But the condition is that you, sister, cannot leave.” Blake withdrew his oppressive aura, but his tone became forceful.
Rather than arguing with him, it's better to agree first. Without Qin Feiyan here, it will be easier to discuss some conditions. Sheng Qing immediately agreed, "Okay, let her go first."
"Really?" This answer exceeded Blake's expectations, and he barely managed to suppress the surprise on his face.
Sheng Qing nodded, while pressing down on Qin Feiyan's arm, signaling her to be quiet.
A few seconds later, Blake seemed to realize something, and his expression suddenly darkened.
Sheng Qing began to regret not having negotiated a few more times; how could he have agreed so readily?
"Send her away now!" Seeing that Blake seemed to be having second thoughts, Sheng Qing immediately pulled Qin Feiyan away.
"etc."
The two hadn't taken more than a few steps when they were stopped. Were they going to back out so quickly?
“You can’t get out without me,” Blake said firmly, his expression complex.
As expected, they had a backup plan, although Sheng Qing had no intention of forcing his way in.
“Alright, then lead the way.” Sheng Qing said calmly.
"I'll be right back, sister, you wait for me to come back." Blake's coquettish tone was also quite frank.
"Do I really have to say something that could be misunderstood?" Sheng Qing's eyes twitched slightly. Never mind, getting Qin Feiyan back safely is the priority. Thinking this, she forcefully suppressed her anger.
An unexpected kiss landed on Sheng Qing's forehead, and Blake, the culprit, didn't linger long, quickly kissing her before disappearing from the room with Qin Feiyan.
The two disappeared so quickly that Sheng Qing didn't even have time to get angry at Blake or explain anything to Qin Feiyan.
"Blake!" Sheng Qing, realizing what was happening, froze, her face flushed, and yelled at the air, "Are you crazy?!"
Do you still think you're a cat?
Feeling inexplicably guilty, Sheng Qing wiped her forehead with her sleeve.
God, please don't let anyone embellish or exaggerate what you say to someone else.
After a while, Sheng Qing realized that she was overthinking things. After all, arguing with a cat was hardly a glorious thing.
Taking advantage of Blake's absence, Sheng Qing finally had the opportunity to thoroughly explore the place, hoping to find an exit before he returned.
As it turns out, Blake had made preparations beforehand to leave Sheng Qing alone in the same place.
Walking around the empty hall, Sheng Qing discovered the mechanism. He tried moving it in all directions, and with a loud bang, a blue stone door slowly opened.
The room was dark. Sheng Qing tried to summon a flame to illuminate the room, but it seemed that the elemental power was also restricted, and the flame failed to appear as expected.
Sheng Qing had no choice but to take a candle from the room. Even though there was no wind, the candlelight flickered, looking as if it would go out at any moment. Sheng Qing deliberately coughed twice, steeled her resolve, and bravely stepped inside.
This was a corridor wide enough for three people to walk side by side, with exquisite and antique murals on both sides. By the dim candlelight, Sheng Qing couldn't quite understand them.
Without much thought, Sheng Qing crossed another blue stone gate at the end and continued forward, the content of the murals continuing as well. After passing through several corridors, the story could finally be vaguely discerned.
If I'm not mistaken, the girl dressed as a hero who was sacrificed in the mural actually fell in love with the Demon King at the end?
Sheng Qing frowned, realizing he must have overlooked something. However, after passing through several stone gates, he finally reached the end point. The candle was about to burn out, and the story truly came to an abrupt end there.
As the candle burned out, scalding candle wax dripped onto her fingertips, which she quickly shook off, but her soft skin still soon became red and swollen.
Sheng Qing glanced back; the flickering candlelight made the entire passageway appear exceptionally dark and gloomy, and a chill suddenly rose in his heart.
With similar murals and similar bluestone doors, Sheng Qing groped her way to the same similar mechanism. A similar rumbling sound rang out, and behind the door were familiar facilities. She had somehow circled back to the starting point, and the exit led to that familiar hall.
Are you trapped in a maze?
It seemed that Blake had set some kind of restriction. Sheng Qing was not giving up and this time he was on high alert. Finally, when he passed through the third blue stone door, he discovered the anomaly.
Sheng Qing closed his eyes, activating his full alertness, and enveloped his body with spiritual energy, carefully sensing the movements around him. The instant he passed through the bluestone gate, a sudden change occurred; the air seemed to freeze and then began to move rapidly. Although the anomaly lasted only a fraction of a second, it was still detected.
When I opened my eyes, it was a completely different scene.
Before Sheng Qing could see clearly, her eyes were suddenly covered by a hand, and Blake's gentle and restrained voice came from her ear: "Sister, we should go back."
When did he arrive? Sheng Qing was startled.
She must have used teleportation. A dozen seconds later, the hand on her waist loosened, and the hand in front of her eyes moved away. She returned to the hall where a bed had been placed out of place.
To be precise, the hall has been completely transformed, with furniture such as desks, wardrobes, and sofas added, making it unrecognizable from its original state. Even the walls have been covered with some kind of special fabric or plastic, giving it a more homely appearance.
Does he really intend to stay here for a long time? Sheng Qing looked up at Blake with a questioning gaze.
"My sister doesn't like it?" Blake's tone sounded quite pleased.
Only someone with a screw loose would like that.
Sheng Qing took a deep breath, suppressing her anger: "What exactly do you want?"
Blake didn't answer. Instead, he pulled Sheng Qing's left hand over and stroked the antique bracelet with its intricate patterns with his index finger and thumb.
Just as Sheng Qing was about to ask a question, Blake opened his hand, covered the bracelet, gripped it tightly, and slid it towards his palm, easily removing the bracelet.
“I don’t like this thing, throw it away.” Blake’s tone carried a strange emotion, yet it left no room for argument.
"No." Sheng Qing refused, reaching out to take it back.
Throw it away? Are you kidding me? What would she say if Her Majesty the Queen asked? She couldn't afford to pay for it.
Besides, what do you mean you have to throw it away just because you don't like it? Is it even yours?
Blake raised his hand high, as if teasing a child, or perhaps a cat, a smile playing on his lips: "Sister, why don't you try begging me?"
Sheng Qing pursed her lips and withdrew her hand that was trying to snatch the bracelet back: "Answer me, what exactly do you want?"
"Sister, what happened to your hand?" Blake waited for a while but didn't get an answer, so he turned his attention to Sheng Qing's burned fingers.
"What do you want? Let me leave!" Sheng Qing didn't answer. Instead, she adhered to the principle that since she asked the question first, she had to be the first to hear the answer. Don't even think about getting any advantage from her.
Blake grasped Sheng Qing's hand and examined it closely. Sheng Qing tried to pull away, but felt the grip tighten slightly, subtly maintaining a position where she couldn't move away but wasn't in pain.
If gazes had warmth, her fingers would surely be burning. In fact, the area burned by the candle wax was also burning hot, but there was no water or other way to stop the burning, so she just left it at that.
"He'll be done looking," Sheng Qing sighed silently, turned her face away, and closed her eyes.
Huh? What is he doing? Feeling the soft and moist touch on his fingertips, Sheng Qing opened his eyes in a panic, his eyes widening in disbelief.
Blake stuck out his tongue and licked the burned part of his fingertip like a cat, his expression focused. He even glanced up and looked at Sheng Qing with a puzzled look in his eyes.
"Stop!" Sheng Qing tried to pull her hand back—no, she should shut up, but that doesn't seem quite right either.
Blake seemed to have forgotten that he was still in human form. Sheng Qing thought to herself, and her embarrassed expression eased a little.
Of course, Sheng Qing was unable to pull his hand back.
"Stop licking! You're a human, not a cat!" Sheng Qing decided to speak frankly.
"Sister, don't you like it?" Blake said, sticking out his tongue and licking it again.
Is this a matter of liking or disliking? Sheng Qing's eyes and mouth twitched simultaneously, and he couldn't help but shudder.
However, setting aside the strange discomfort, Sheng Qing felt that the burning sensation in her fingertips had indeed eased considerably.
"Wouldn't this be better?" Blake's eyes were burning as he stared intently at Sheng Qing's face, then slightly opened his mouth and swallowed Sheng Qing's entire fingertip.
Good heavens, what is he doing? Sheng Qing's mind went blank for a moment, and it took her several seconds to react. The burning sensation disappeared from her fingertips, then returned to her cheek, and finally she kicked Blake hard. The latter finally let go, and her fingertips were freed again.
The murals on both sides of the passageway flashed through Sheng Qing's mind. Could he be playing the role depicted in them?
