Chapter 88 Pre-Battle Crisis, Protecting the Beauty

"Data access complete, strategic analysis to begin..." Chu Yao's clear voice came from the artificial intelligence matrix, with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor, yet it was firm, like a blade of grass swaying in a storm, stubbornly refusing to bow its head.

"Enemy unit locked. Night Owl is secretly gathering its remaining forces at coordinates..."

Lin Yi suddenly stood up, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, and a sneer curled at the corner of his mouth, just like a cat that had caught a mouse.

"Hmph, this guy really won't give up until he's cornered! Fine, let him come. It'll save me the trouble of searching for him one by one. We can catch them all in one fell swoop!" He waved his hand, exuding an air of heroic grandeur, as if he were about to command the world and dictate the course of history. "All hands on deck, target: Night Owl's lair, move out!"

Su Qing gazed at Lin Yi's imposing figure, hesitant to speak, her pearly teeth lightly biting her lower lip, a nameless unease lingering in her heart.

She clenched her fists silently, her fingertips digging deep into her palms, as if she could grasp that faint glimmer of hope.

Aizen pushed up his glasses, a glint of light flashing in the lenses, his deep gaze seemingly concealing something unfathomable.

“Lin Yi,” his voice was deep and magnetic, carrying a barely perceptible warning, “I have a feeling that things aren’t that simple…”

With a major battle imminent, a tense atmosphere permeated the air, like a taut string that could snap at any moment.

Everyone was making final preparations for the upcoming decisive battle, and the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.

The owl hid in a dark corner, its face terribly grim.

He knew that he was no match for Lin Yi in a direct confrontation.

This guy is a complete liability!

He gritted his teeth. Since a direct confrontation wouldn't work, he had no choice but to take a different approach!

"Hmph, Lin Yi, do you really think you've won?" Night Owl chuckled sinisterly, his voice as chilling as a viper's hiss. "I'd like to see if you can still be this arrogant without her!"

He dispatched his most capable assassin—a mysterious, ghost-like figure—to silently infiltrate Lin Yi's camp, with Su Qing as his target.

Night enveloped the earth, like a giant black curtain, concealing everything within it.

Su Qing stood alone by the window, gazing into the distance, lost in thought.

With a major battle imminent, her heart was filled with worry and unease.

Suddenly, a cold wind swept in, and Su Qing couldn't help but shiver.

She instinctively turned around, but saw nothing.

A strange sense of crisis welled up in her heart, making her feel a pang of anxiety.

Just then, a dark shadow flashed by, appearing behind Su Qing like a ghost.

The assassin's dagger gleamed coldly as it aimed straight for Su Qing's back.

At the critical moment, a golden light flashed, and Lin Yi appeared beside Su Qing like a god descending to earth.

He pulled Su Qing into his arms, and a powerful spatial force instantly formed a barrier, blocking all the assassin's attacks.

"Who goes there?!" Lin Yi's voice was icy cold, carrying an undeniable air of authority.

The assassin didn't speak, but launched another attack.

This time, he was faster and his moves were even more ruthless.

However, Lin Yi was faster than him.

He unleashed the Space-Time Blade, its golden light slicing through the night sky and instantly severing the assassin's weapon.

Seeing this, the assassin knew he was no match for Lin Yi and turned to flee.

"Trying to run? Not so easy!" Lin Yi snorted coldly, instantly activating his Time-Space Imprisonment skill, trapping the assassin firmly and rendering him unable to move.

Su Qing was so frightened by this sudden turn of events that her face turned pale. She clung tightly to Lin Yi's chest, feeling the warmth and strength emanating from him.

"It's alright, don't be afraid." Lin Yi gently comforted Su Qing, his voice as soft as a spring breeze on her face. "I promised you I would always protect you."

Su Qing looked up at Lin Yi's resolute face and nodded gently, her heart filled with emotion and happiness.

Chu Yao stood aside, watching this scene. Although she felt a little disappointed, she was still happy for them.

After all, Lin Yi's happiness is her greatest wish.

"Lin Yi..." Su Qing's voice trembled slightly, tinged with lingering fear, "Thank you."

"Silly girl, why are you thanking me?" Lin Yi affectionately patted Su Qing's head. "Protecting you is my responsibility."

He turned his head, his eyes coldly fixed on the trapped assassin. "Speak, who sent you?"

The assassin gritted his teeth and remained silent.

A cold glint flashed in Lin Yi's eyes. "You won't talk? Then don't blame me for being impolite!"

Just as he was about to press further, Chu Yao's voice suddenly came through the communicator, "Lin Yi, something bad has happened! Night Owl..." Her voice trailed off, leaving only a series of static noises from the communicator.

Lin Yi frowned, a sense of foreboding washing over him.

"Chu Yao? Chu Yao! What happened?!" He shouted into the communicator, his voice exploding in the air like thunder, making people's eardrums ache.

However, he was met only with endless silence and the piercing sound of electricity, as if death were whispering in his ear, announcing the arrival of some ominous event.

His heart sank, and a sense of crisis, like thorns in his back, welled up within him.

That old bastard Night Owl really doesn't play by the rules!

It seems that this battle is even more dangerous than he imagined!

Su Qing sensed the murderous aura emanating from Lin Yi and knew things might be going badly, so she anxiously gripped the hem of his clothes.

Lin Yi took her hand in return and gave her a reassuring look, as if to say, "I'm here for you."

"It seems Night Owl has gone to his wits' end and is preparing to unleash his ultimate move!" Lin Yi narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint in them, like a cheetah eyeing its prey. "Fine, let me see what new tricks he can pull!"

He turned to look at the assassin bound by the constraints of time and space, a cruel smile playing on his lips.

"I was originally going to spare your life, but now it seems there's no need." He raised his hand and waved it, and the spacetime blade flashed again, mercilessly slicing across the assassin's throat.

Blood gushed out like a fountain, staining the ground red, and the pungent smell of blood instantly filled the air.

"Qing'er, you go back to the safe house first. Leave this to me," Lin Yi said gently to Su Qing, his tone carrying an undeniable firmness.

Su Qing knew that staying here would only be a burden to Lin Yi, so she obediently nodded.

"Then be careful."

Lin Yi watched Su Qing leave, his gaze gradually turning cold and sharp.

He turned around and looked into the distance, as if piercing through the endless darkness and seeing the owl hidden behind the curtain.

"Night Owl, you're getting more and more interesting," he muttered to himself, a playful smile curving his lips. "But do you think you can defeat me like this? You're too young and naive!"

Suddenly, as if sensing something, he turned around abruptly and looked into the empty darkness behind him.

"who?!"
