Chapter 58 First Steps into the Ruins: Traps Appear Frequently

After the mysterious voice abruptly stopped, an eerie atmosphere filled the air, as if the entire "Forgotten City" was silently mocking their arrival.

Lin Yi narrowed his eyes.

"Don't fall behind!" Long Wu's voice rang out from behind. His dragon scales were still clearly visible, as if he were ready to deal with any unexpected event at any time.

The others followed closely behind, each on edge, ready to face any impending danger.

As soon as you enter the "Forgotten City", an ancient and mysterious aura hits you.

This aura seemed to have been revived from ancient memories, carrying a chilling sensation that sent shivers down one's spine.

Chu Yao sensed the faint fluctuations in the air and said softly, "This aura seems to be unique to ancient ruins."

Before he finished speaking, the ground suddenly cracked open, and countless sharp spikes shot out from the ground like venomous snakes, emitting a piercing hiss.

Lin Yi reacted quickly, and the spacetime power surging around him instantly stopped the flow of time for a moment.

The spikes froze in mid-air, as if bound by invisible chains.

Lin Yi waved his hand gently, leading his teammates across these deadly obstacles with ease.

“These traps look very ancient, but their design is extremely ingenious.” Aizen’s voice was deep and magnetic as he stood beside Lin Yi, his sharp eyes scanning their surroundings.

"Hmph, no matter how ingenious the trap, it's nothing but a child's play in front of me." Lin Yi's lips curled up slightly. He led the group forward. Just as they reached a corner, a fierce flame suddenly shot out from the wall. The flames roared and swept over, carrying scorching heat and a pungent smell.

"Get out of the way!" Lin Yi shouted, instantly activating a spacetime teleportation technique, leading everyone through the flames, dodging each flame like a phantom.

During the intervals between the flames, he precisely timed his movements and led the team to safety.

By analyzing the surrounding environment, Chu Yao discovered that the traps seemed to be set up according to some kind of pattern.

She said softly, "These traps may seem random, but they actually follow a pattern. We can observe the environment, find the pattern, and then deal with it in advance."

Lin Yi nodded in agreement: "Okay, let's continue." He led the group along the passage and gradually discovered some ancient symbols carved on the walls.

These symbols present an ancient style, as if they were imprints left by an ancient civilization.

Lin Yi gently touched the symbols and felt a faint fluctuation, as if these symbols contained some kind of powerful force.

“These symbols may be related to ancient guidance,” Aizen said softly, a hint of inquiry in his eyes.

The group continued on their journey, and soon they encountered a giant array of rotating gears.

The gears were a full ten feet in diameter, tightly connected to each other, constantly rotating and emitting a piercing metallic clanging sound.

At the center of the gear, a faint light flickered, as if guiding some direction.

Lin Yi frowned slightly, and with his precise control over time and space, he quickly calculated the rotation trajectory of the gear.

He waved for everyone to follow, while he himself moved nimbly through the gears like a nimble cheetah.

Each step was carefully placed within the gaps in the gears, avoiding near-fatal danger time and time again.

Just then, Aizen's gaze fell on a faint rune on the gear.

Although these runes are inconspicuous, they exude a mysterious aura.

Aizen said softly, "These runes seem to be closely related to the operation of the gears. We need to unravel their mystery."

Lin Yi nodded and led everyone to successfully pass through the gear array.

Just when everyone thought they had successfully passed through this area, Lin Yi suddenly felt the ground beneath his feet begin to tremble slightly.

He frowned, turned to the crowd, and whispered, "Everyone be careful, the ground is sinking..."

Before the words were even finished, the ground suddenly sank, plunging everyone into chaos.

Lin Yi frowned, and the power of spacetime around him surged once more, preparing to face the unknown challenges ahead.

Lin Yi's words, "Everyone be careful, the ground is sinking..." were practically a jinx. As soon as he finished speaking, "Boom!" a loud noise rang out, and the solid ground beneath their feet instantly collapsed like paper!

The feeling of weightlessness suddenly came over me, like riding a drop tower without a seatbelt, my heart was about to jump out of my throat.

"What the hell! Not again?!" Long Wu yelled, losing his balance. He instinctively tried to grab something, but only managed to grab a handful of air, his dragon scales popping up.

The others weren't much better off; the screams, the wind, and the roar of rocks breaking and rolling down all mixed together, creating a scene straight out of a death rock concert.

The darkness, like a gaping maw, instantly swallowed them up.

Falling, falling endlessly!

The sensation was the cold wind brushing against my cheeks, carrying the pungent smell of dust straight to my nostrils.

Just when everyone thought they were about to be smashed into a pulp and suffer a tragic "landing and instant death" moment, a strange light suddenly shone down from below.

The light was eerie, a blend of blue and green, like phosphorescence in the deep sea, or like some kind of pulsating energy core, illuminating the blurry outline of the bottom of the unfathomable dark abyss.

The light did not feel warm at all; instead, it exuded an inexplicable mystery and allure that made one's heart tremble, yet one couldn't help but want to explore it further.

"What... what is this thing? An enhanced version of Journey to the Center of the Earth?" Long Wu steadied himself and stared down with wide eyes, his tone full of amazement.

Lin Yi remained unusually calm during his fall, as the power of spacetime quietly enveloped his body, slowing down the momentum of his descent.

He squinted at the approaching light source below, a barely perceptible smile curving his lips. "Heh, looks like the 'surprise' is yet to come," he murmured, his hands already beginning to rise slightly, silvery-white spacetime energy leaping and gathering at his fingertips.
