Chapter 2: First Display of Power, Making Friends with Teammates

While Lin Yi was still pondering Xuan Mingzi's warning, the tranquility of the newbie village was shattered by a piercing alarm.

The alarm sounded like a sharp blade, piercing Lin Yi's eardrums and instantly snapping him out of his thoughts.

He looked in the direction of the sound and saw a group of twisted shadows emerging from the village entrance. Accompanied by a low roar, a group of hideous monsters rushed into the village.

The villagers panicked and fled in all directions. Some players also picked up weapons to fight back, but to little avail.

Most players have only just awakened and haven't mastered enough combat skills, making them no match for these monsters.

The village was thrown into chaos.

Lin Yi frowned, his fighting spirit fully ignited.

He took a deep breath, and it felt as if every cell in his body was activated by an invisible force.

He raised his hand and whispered a sentence: "The Realm of Time, unfold!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the flow of time around Lin Yi suddenly slowed down, and the monsters' movements became extremely sluggish, as if they were frozen in the river of time.

Lin Yi's body moved like lightning, instantly weaving through the monsters, each strike hitting its target accurately.

"Smack!" A punch landed on the monster's head. The monster let out a wail, its body turning into a ball of light and disappearing into thin air.

"Bang!" A kick landed squarely on the monster's abdomen, sending it flying through the air, crashing into several houses before finally turning into fragments.

Lin Yi moved with effortless grace, as if dancing on a battlefield.

The monsters were like decorations in front of him, posing no threat whatsoever.

The players' initial panic turned into shock, and then into admiration.

"What...what kind of monster is this? It seems to have suddenly become so slow..." A player hid to the side, his eyes wide, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"Who...who is he? Why is he so strong?!" Another player swallowed hard, his heart filled with awe.

Lin Yi easily dealt with the last monster, and the flow of time returned to normal.

There wasn't a single scratch on his body, as if he had just done a simple warm-up exercise.

"Clap clap clap!" Suddenly, a burst of applause broke the silence, and Long Wu walked over with several companions from not far away.

His eyes held a hint of surprise and curiosity, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly: "Not bad, young man, the legendary mythical profession is indeed well-deserved of its reputation."

Lin Yi smiled slightly and withdrew his aura: "You flatter me, I just happened to have mastered some techniques."

Long Wu walked over, sized Lin Yi up, and said, "It seems we're destined to meet. How about we explore this world together?"

Lin Yi nodded: "My name is Lin Yi, and I live alone. Of course, it would be best if I could have like-minded friends."

Just then, the village chief of the beginner village walked over from the side, looking at Lin Yi with gratitude on his face: "Thank you for your help, Lord Lin Yi. If there is an opportunity, I hope I can do something for you."

Lin Yi smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "Mr. Village Chief, is there anything I can help you with?"

The village chief nodded, his expression turning serious: "Lord Lin Yi, I have some information here about hidden quests in the game and the truth of the world. I hope it will be of some help to you."

Lin Yi's heart skipped a beat, and he gave the village chief a deep look: "Please speak."

The village chief took a deep breath and began to slowly explain: "This world is not so simple. Everything you have experienced is a trial designed by an advanced civilization. And you, Lord Lin Yi, are the chosen 'key variable.' Every choice you make will affect the future of this world."

The village chief's words were like a key, slowly unlocking the doubts in Lin Yi's heart.

He realized that this information was crucial for him to find his parents, and his heart was filled with anticipation.

Just as Lin Yi was about to ask further questions, the village chief suddenly said nervously, "However, there are some things I can't tell you right now..." Just as Lin Yi was about to ask for more details, the village chief's face scrunched up like a used napkin.

“Wait a minute, buddy,” he stammered, his voice trembling like a Chihuahua on a skateboard.

“There’s…there’s something going on. Something big.” He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down like a buoy.

"An extremely evil aura is approaching us. It's far more terrifying than those little shadow fairies."

A chill, colder than when penguins get a foot massage, shot down Lin Yi's spine.

He could feel the air getting thicker and the pressure in his ears increasing, just like when he was diving in the deep sea.

The virtual birds’ cheerful chirping suddenly stopped, replaced by an eerie silence, a silence so heavy it felt almost tangible.

The scent of wildflowers disappeared, replaced by a metallic smell, like the rusty smell of blood in the rain.

Even the virtual sunlight seemed to dim, and the vibrant colors in the game world faded, as if someone had turned down the saturation slider.

The ground began to tremble.

A deep, hoarse roar, like a dragon gurgling with pebbles in its mouth, came from the edge of the forest.

Long Wu has never been afraid of fighting. He cracked his knuckles and a wicked smile played on his lips.

“Oh, oh,” he said softly, his voice carrying a hunting excitement.

"It seems things are about to get interesting." He glanced at Lin Yi, his eyes gleaming.

"Are you ready for the second round, MVP?" The village chief, pale-faced, pointed with a trembling finger at the darkening forest.

“He…they’re here…” he whispered, his voice barely audible amidst the growing roar.

The ground tremors grew stronger and stronger.

From the shadows, a pair of blood-red eyes, the size of dinner plates, lit up and pierced the darkness.

"Run!"
