Chapter 109 Double Happiness

Mu Yi'an was busy buying property, while Jiang Shuyun had just come out of the Bailu Academy's assessment site, looking exhausted.

"Sir, please have some water."

Although Li Li was only thirteen years old and still a child, he had learned etiquette and how to serve others from his previous experience as a page.

"Okay, thanks for your hard work!"

Jiang Shuyun thanked him as usual, took the water bag, and drank quite a bit.

"Sir, shall we head straight back to the inn?"

"Well, let's go back to the inn first. I need to take a bath, eat something, and get a good night's sleep. It turns out I'll have to wait a few days before I can come out."

Jiang Shuyun had to take a written test, a talent test, and an interview that day. She was very tired because she had to concentrate so much.

I've never worked this hard in my forty-odd years of past life. I've truly experienced a different kind of life!

Jiang Shuyun and the others booked rooms at an inn at the foot of Shuyuan Mountain and have been staying there for the past few days. It's too far from Uncle Yi'an's house; going back and forth would be inconvenient and a waste of time. Even Mu Yi'an's cousin stayed at a nearby inn two days before his exam.

Back at the inn, Jiang Shuyun asked the waiter to bring her hot water and took a relaxing hot bath, feeling refreshed and revitalized.

"Sir, I've brought the food back."

"Okay, sit down and eat with us."

Jiang Shuyun didn't want to eat in the lobby. In the past few days, the inn had been full of students who came to participate in the academy's assessment. They should be gathered in the lobby discussing today's assessment. Jiang Shuyun didn't want to participate; she just wanted to get a good night's sleep.

Li Li ordered only light dishes, knowing that the master had just finished his exams and had a poor appetite, unable to eat greasy food. In this respect, the thirteen-year-old did a very good job, far surpassing the immature teenager of his previous life.

After finishing her meal, Jiang Shuyun wandered around the room for a while before going straight to sleep.

After a good night's sleep, Jiang Shuyun got up, washed up, sat down and wrote a large piece of calligraphy before going downstairs for dinner.

In the hall, many students were already engaged in lively discussions, sharing their insights and occasionally arguing heatedly.

Jiang Shuyun didn't want to participate, so she found a seat in a corner and sat down. Li Li brought her breakfast, which she ate quietly. Jiang Shuyun then got up to find Mu Ziwen, wondering how his exam had gone.

In the study of the Jiang family's old house in Jiangjia Village, books lay before Jiang's father, but he couldn't concentrate on a single word. Shuheng and Shuyun were both taking exams; it was unknown how they had done.

Shuheng is twenty-seven years old. If he fails the exam again this time, he doesn't know if he will lose heart. With Shuyun ahead of him as a benchmark, Shuheng often lacks confidence.

If Shuyun can get into Bailu Academy this time, she will have a better chance of passing the imperial examination in the fall two years later.

Because I had so many things on my mind, I couldn't concentrate on the book.

Although Mu Yi'an also wanted to know Jiang Shuyun's assessment results, she wasn't anxious. They had already experienced such incredible opportunities, and their mindset was very peaceful. They accepted whatever they gained or lost with equanimity.

On August 20th, Jiang Shuyun returned to Jiangjia Village with her page.

"Second sister-in-law, my second brother is back!"

As soon as Jiang Qi entered the courtyard, she saw her second brother push open the door and enter. Before she could even greet him, she instinctively called out to go find her second sister-in-law.

Jiang Shuyun was completely bewildered by his younger sister. What was going on? Was his status in Jiang Qi's heart now far inferior to that of Yi An?

"You're back. Are you tired? Go wash up, say hello to your parents, and get a good night's sleep."

Mu Yi'an could see the fatigue on Shu Yun's face. In ancient times, when travel was slow, going out was a particularly uncomfortable thing.

"Aren't you going to ask me how I did on the exam, or if I passed?"

"Just do your best. We've been through the most outrageous things in the world, so what else can easily touch our hearts?"

"Yes, I thought I would be very excited, but when I actually saw the list, I was calm instead. Yi'an, I passed the test and will officially enter the academy to study on the 5th of next month."

Although she wasn't that excited, Jiang Shuyun was still in a very good mood when she talked to Mu Yi'an.

"Congratulations! I knew you could do it!"

Mu Yi'an smiled; they'd had a string of good luck lately!

"Congratulations! We are husband and wife as one!"

"Hate."

Mu Yi'an patted Jiang Shuyun's restless hand, secretly feeling a little tempted herself. Since they entered into an intimate relationship, physical contact naturally evoked different feelings.

"Really annoying? Wait until tonight, then you'll know whether you're annoying or not."

Jiang Shuyun kissed his wife, walked out of the inner room, carrying his things, and headed towards the Jiang family's old house.

"Mother, I'm back."

Jiang Shuyun carried her things and pushed open the gate of the old house.

"Shuyun is back. How are you? Are you tired? Did you do well on the exam?"

"It's alright, just a little tired. I just got home and changed my clothes. I came over to tell my parents that I got into Bailu Academy."

"That's wonderful, that's wonderful! If your dad knew, he'd be so happy he wouldn't be able to sleep!"

Jiang's mother was agitated and paced around the yard. She had heard from Shuheng's father that getting into Bailu Academy would be a great help to Shuyun.

Both sons took the exam. Now, Shuyun has been admitted. I don't know how Shuheng will fare. I hope he can pass the exam too, then it will be a double celebration!

Jiang's father was still at the school and hadn't returned yet, so Jiang Shuyun didn't wait for him. She went back to rest first and would come over in the evening.

Jiang's mother told him to go back and rest, and come back tomorrow. She would talk to Jiang's father about it.

Jiang Shuyun was genuinely tired, so she left the old house and went straight home.

At home, Mu Yi'an asked Li Sao to make a bowl of noodles. After Jiang Shuyun returned, she ate half a bowl of noodles and then went to bed.
