Jiang Shuyun performed a grand salute. With the teacher's protection, they could finally have a reliable backer in the county town.
After leaving the county school, Jiang Shuyun asked Li Hong to drive the carriage so they could take a look at the private school the teacher had mentioned.
Li Hong inquired about directions before driving to the Wan Juan Academy.
"Master, we've arrived."
Jiang Shuyun got off the carriage and saw the courtyard in front of her. The ancient courtyard gate had a wooden plaque with the four characters "Wan Juan Xue Tang" (meaning "Ten Thousand Scrolls Academy") carved on it.
The gate was tightly closed, but the courtyard was filled with the sounds of children laughing and reading aloud. Jiang Shuyun felt quite comfortable. Perhaps it was because it suited his taste; he simply felt at ease.
Unable to enter the private school, Jiang Shuyun led Li Hong on a stroll around the vicinity.
