Chapter 154 Jiang Qi's marriage is settled

"Dad, have you eaten?"

"We've already eaten. What's the situation with Jiang Qi? Did the doctor from the clinic come to propose marriage?"

When Jiang's father heard the news brought by Steward Li, he was anxious and gave the children at school a holiday so he could come over and check on them.

"Yes, Dr. Chu's wife passed away more than two years ago. Knowing about my younger sister's situation, he sent a matchmaker to propose marriage."

Mu Yi'an invited Jiang's father into the house, just in time for her mother-in-law to arrive.

"Shuheng's father, come over and rest for a while, have some tea."

Jiang's mother knew that her old man was anxious, so she quickly told him to rest.

"It's nothing, I'm not tired, I just want to know about Jiang Qi as soon as possible."

Jiang's mother recounted everything she knew about Doctor Chu, including what her second daughter-in-law had asked her brother from her maternal family, and what Steward Li had learned.

"It sounds like Dr. Chu's conditions are really suitable for our Jiang Qi. She's our only little girl, we can raise her well and be true to our conscience. People are all made of flesh and blood, and most can get what they deserve."

“You’re right. Our Qiqi is kind-hearted and patient with children, so she should be fine.”

The elderly couple chatted for a while, and then it was time for Jiang's mother to go to the clinic.

"I'll go to the clinic first, and we'll talk when I get back."

“I’ll go with you. Last time I went, I didn’t notice what Dr. Chu looked like.”

"That's fine, but I don't know if Dr. Chu will agree to our request."

Jiang's father had also heard about the matter of not taking concubines, and he agreed with it.

"If he doesn't agree, it means he's not a good match for Jiang Qi."

Although Jiang's father thought Dr. Chu was a good candidate, his daughter was no less so.

There were no concubines in Jiang's mother's life. In the village, it was not easy to support even one wife, let alone have spare money to support a concubine.

Therefore, she felt that if Doctor Chu could not agree to the condition of not taking a concubine, there was no need to continue the marriage.

Jiang's mother was going to the clinic, and Granny Xing quickly followed.

"Grandma, take it easy, let me help you up."

"It's okay, I can manage by myself. You stay home, and the child's father can come with me."

Jiang's mother asked Granny Xing to stay behind, and she and Jiang's father left together in a carriage.

"That's Granny Xing, the servant my second daughter-in-law bought for me. When we go back to the village, I'll have her take care of us."

Jiang's mother mentioned Granny Xing, saying that although she was called Granny Xing, she was actually not yet forty years old.

"My second daughter-in-law is so kind; we're so lucky to be able to enjoy this blessing."

Jiang's father understood that Shuyun's family's good conditions were earned through his second daughter-in-law's hard work.

When they arrived at the clinic, Dr. Chu came out to greet them.

"Uncle, Aunt, are you well?"

"Hello, Dr. Chu!"

Judging from Dr. Chu's behavior, Jiang's parents had agreed to their request.

The two sides didn't exchange many pleasantries and went about their own business, leaving some things unsaid.

After returning from the clinic, Jiang's parents were in a very good mood, which was quite obvious.

Mu Yi'an guessed that Doctor Chu might have shown some improvement, so she didn't ask any further questions.

As for the conditions proposed at the time, Mu Yi'an felt that if Doctor Chu wanted to break the contract, it would be an easy thing to do.

Some people have a sense of contractual responsibility, while others do not; it all depends on individual character.

As Jiang Qi's sister-in-law and a relatively close friend, Mu Yi'an naturally wanted the best for her. However, no one knew what the future held.

Not to mention whether Doctor Chu would break his promise, she couldn't even guarantee whether Jiang Shuyun could stay true to her original intentions. The only thing she could do was accumulate more assets, so that when that day came, she wouldn't be able to benefit others and would only be left with sorrow.

Jiang's father was concerned about the school at home, so he did not stay overnight. After lunch and resting for a while, he asked Wei San to drive him back home.

As soon as Jiang's father got out of the car, Jiang's sister-in-law, Jiang Lan, and Li Qiuniang hurriedly surrounded him.

"Dad, what do you think? What does the man do?"

"Father, sister..."

"Father, have my second sister-in-law and eldest sister agreed?"

The three women looked at Jiang's father with great anxiety.

"Grandpa, shall I take your things inside?"

"Just take it inside. When you catch your ride to Third Grandfather's house, you can deliver the things there."

Mu Yi'an also brought some things for her third grandfather and great-grandfather. They weren't anything valuable, just some food and drinks.

After Wei San drove away, Jiang's father turned to the three people in the courtyard.

"The man is a doctor, but it's not settled yet. We'll talk about it after it's settled."

Before Jiang's sister-in-law and Jiang Lan could ask anything else, Jiang's father had already gone to the study.

"Doctor, is it like Dr. Wu?"

Most of the doctors that Sister Jiang had seen were similar to Doctor Wu.

"Isn't she quite old?"

In Jiang Lan's memory, the doctors were all quite old.

"Impossible. With my second sister-in-law overseeing things, the conditions won't be too bad."

Li Qiuniang had a lot of confidence in Mu Yi'an. Tomorrow she would take the child to the county town to see how the house search was going and when they could move there.

The group couldn't agree on anything and dispersed.

Matchmaker Huang visited twice more, but Doctor Chu said he would not take a concubine.

Both parties were interested, and the matchmaker, Huang, checked their birth dates and times, which turned out to be extremely auspicious!

As Mu Yi'an listened to the matchmaker Huang speaking excitedly, she wondered to herself, "Is this 'matching birth dates' really accurate? Are there any major misfortunes?"

However, Mu Yi'an couldn't ask about this.

Once the compatibility of the birth dates and times is confirmed, the marriage is settled, and the subsequent procedures should not be rushed.

Jiang Lan is getting married at the end of the year. Although Jiang Qi is the older sister, she has been divorced and wants to wait until Jiang Lan gets married before she gets married.
