Jiang Qi took Wei Yunduo and the clothes she had made for Doctor Chu and his daughter to the clinic.
Everyone at the clinic now knows that their Dr. Chu is engaged; his fiancée is Jiang Qi, the girl who accompanied her mother to the clinic for treatment.
Everyone knows that Miss Jiang was divorced, because she always wore her hair in a married woman's style.
"Miss Jiang, you've arrived. Dr. Chu is in the acupuncture room."
As soon as Jiang Qi entered, an apprentice from the clinic came over to greet her.
"Okay, I'll wait here for a while."
Jiang Qi can no longer go to the backyard of the clinic, as that area now belongs to Doctor Chu.
After all, they are only engaged, not married, so there are some things they still need to be careful about.
"Then you can rest over there. Doctor Chu will come over as soon as he's done with his work."
The apprentice quickly brewed a pot of tea and then went back to his own business.
Jiang Qi sat down with Yun Duo in the rest area and picked up a medical book to read.
"You're my second brother's wife? No, you've got the wrong address. You're Jiang Qi?"
Jiang Qi heard someone speaking to her, put down her book, looked up, and frowned when she saw the person in front of her.
"What's wrong? Don't you recognize me? We've been sisters-in-law for several years now. Even though you and your brother-in-law are divorced, you don't have to be enemies, do you?"
"Not necessarily an enemy, but a stranger on the street is a good choice."
When Jiang Qi was at the Fan family's house, although Sister-in-law Fan didn't deliberately bully her, their relationship was just so-so.
"It seems I was just being presumptuous. I was thinking of congratulating you on your engagement."
"There's really no need for that. It's best if we just live our own lives without interfering with each other."
Jiang Qi didn't need a congratulatory message from her; it wasn't necessary.
"You've arrived?"
"I made clothes for you and Anran before you finished your work, and then I finally found the time to deliver them over."
Jiang Qi saw Doctor Chu coming over and spoke to him naturally.
“Anran has been talking about wanting to see her aunt these past few days, and I’m almost at my wit’s end with her. If she knew you made clothes for her, she would be overjoyed.”
Jiang Qi smiled gently and handed the bundle she had brought to Doctor Chu.
"Auntie, you've finally arrived."
Anran came over on time today to see if her aunt had come, and to her surprise, she actually saw her aunt.
"Anran, your aunt has come to see you."
"Auntie, I miss you so much!"
An Ran threw herself into Jiang Qi's arms, almost knocking Jiang Qi over as she had just squatted down. Fortunately, Doctor Chu caught her from behind.
"It seems An Ran has been eating well these past few days; she's gained a lot of strength."
"Hehe... I ate a lot. I'm going to go play with Chuyue later. I can't lose to her."
When Jiang Qi was chatting with An Ran, she mentioned her niece, Chu Yue, who was a chubby little girl with considerable strength.
"Hmm, Chuyue ate a lot and is very energetic."
Jiang Qi gently touched An Ran's little hair buns, the two tiny buns she had just pulled up. They were adorned with colorful headbands, making her look very cute.
"Dr. Chu, could you also take a look at my second daughter-in-law? They've been married for almost two years, why is there still no sign of a baby?"
Dr. Chu was already sitting behind his desk, his relaxed expression from when he was talking to Jiang Qi gone; he now looked rather serious.
"Sit down and place your hands on the pulse pillow."
Although Dr. Chu's expression was serious, his tone was calm and unhurried.
The young woman's face was slightly bitter as she slowly placed her hand in the medicine. She had seen many doctors and taken a lot of medicine over the past year, and she was truly terrified of it; the smell of medicine made her nauseous.
Dr. Chu carefully examined the patient's pulse, taking the pulse in both hands.
"This woman is very healthy and has no ailments."
"No problem? If there's nothing wrong, why can't you have children?"
Mother Fan was anxious. She had been married to this second daughter-in-law for over a year. She wasn't particularly pretty, but she had a large bottom, which made her look like she could easily bear children.
Jiang Qi used to be very thin and unable to have children, so she got divorced.
She can still find a virgin for her son, someone from a well-off family.
Jiang Qi, having divorced and returned home, is unable to have children; who would want her?
"Madam, if you can't have children, it could be a problem with the man. You can have your son come over and have his pulse checked. If there's a problem, we can address it sooner."
"You say my son has no problems? How is that possible? If a woman can't have children, that's her problem, not my son's."
Fan's mother was unhappy. Her son was perfectly fine, so how could there be a problem?
"Humans eat grains and other foods, so it's normal to get sick. What's so strange about that?"
Dr. Chu knew that men often find it difficult to accept the fact that they have health problems, and they tend to avoid seeking medical help. Often, minor ailments develop into serious conditions that are beyond medical help.
"How dare you speak to me like that?"
Mother Fan couldn't afford to lose face; if word got out that her son couldn't have children, her reputation would be ruined.
"Madam, I'm just telling you the truth. Some things are actually quite simple. If you treat a minor ailment promptly, it will be cured. But if you delay treatment, a minor ailment can become a major one."
Dr. Chu didn't know the Fan family, nor did he know they were from Jiang Qi's previous in-laws. He was simply stating what he believed to be true as a doctor.
Sister-in-law Fan was a little anxious; this doctor was the one Jiang Qi was engaged to.
"What did you say? Really? You're not lying to me?"
Sister-in-law Fan whispered a few words in her mother-in-law's ear, but her mother-in-law was a little skeptical.
"Mother, look over there."
Sister-in-law Fan gestured slightly in Jiang Qi's direction. Fan's mother turned her head and saw Jiang Qi chatting and laughing with a little girl.
