Chapter 21 Let's Act Together

The next morning, Mu Yi'an woke up, shook her still a little groggy head, and put on her pants and long shirt. Fortunately, she didn't have to wear a skirt.

Sigh, I really miss her tank tops and shorts. It's a pity that although this era isn't as strict with women—you still have to wear a veil when you go out—showing your arms and legs is definitely not allowed.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Although I miss everything from the past, I'm still alive and doing quite well.

After washing up, Mu Yi'an planned to go to the backyard to check on the ewe she had bought yesterday.

"Second sister-in-law, you're up?"

"Sister-in-law, are you preparing breakfast? I'm going to check on the sheep in the backyard. I wonder if they're adjusting well to the new environment?"

"I wasn't sure either. It was my first time raising sheep, and I didn't really know what they ate."

Li Qiuniang looked embarrassed. At the time, she was only thinking about giving Shao Kun goat milk and hadn't thought about anything else.

"It's okay, after breakfast we'll go cut grass for the sheep together."

"That would be wonderful, thank you, Second Sister-in-law."

Mu Yi'an waved and went to the backyard.

"Meow..."

The two lambs bleated as they nursed. Mu Yi'an plucked two handfuls of grass from the edge of the yard and tossed them to the two ewes.

"Today is your first day on the job, so let's give you a rest first. We'll start milking tomorrow."

Mu Yi'an patted the heads of the two ewes and poured them some water.

When she returned from the backyard, Jiang Shuyun was already awake and was doing some kind of exercise, which she had never seen before.

"Good morning, my wife!"

"Good morning, my lord! What are you doing?"

"You don't know the Eight-Section Brocade?"

"I don't know, I've never seen it before."

Mu Yi'an had never seen it before, but she often saw Tai Chi and could even practice a few moves herself. There were many elderly men and women practicing it in the park, and they looked quite skilled.

Jiang Shuyun didn't explain either. This Eight Pieces of Brocade has a long history, it seems to have existed since the Ming or Song Dynasty, he couldn't quite remember.

Mu Yi'an wasn't really interested in whether he was practicing the Eight-Section Brocade or the Six-Section Brocade; he was just mentioning it casually.

"Okay, you keep practicing. I'll go check if the children are awake."

Inside the room, Chuyue was sleeping soundly on her back, having rolled all the way to the middle of the bed. Fortunately, Jiang Shuyun had the foresight to cover her with a blanket.

"Tsk tsk... If this were a wealthy family, this sleeping posture would definitely be unacceptable, and the wet nurse would have to watch over it every day."

Mu Yi'an muttered to herself, feeling fortunate that she hadn't transmigrated into a wealthy family or become a young lady in her boudoir; otherwise, she really wouldn't have been able to bear it.

She was completely ignorant of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting; her needlework skills were limited to sewing clothes, and she couldn't even embroider a flower.

Ah, people, without comparison there's no hurt. At first, I felt God was unfair, wondering why I'd ended up here. Now, I think it's not so bad; at least I'm alive, at least I don't have to worry about hunger or cold, at least I'm not a slave...

After a jumble of thoughts, Mu Yi'an went to Shao Yun and his brother's room.

The two boys are sleeping like this, clinging so tightly to each other on such a hot day.

The two children on the bed were sleeping soundly, embracing each other.

After checking on the child, Mu Yi'an returned to the inner room to tidy up the original owner's belongings. There were quite a few clothes, fabrics, and odds and ends; after all, they had been married for six years, and traces of their life together were everywhere.

"Mom, I need to pee!"

Hearing Shao Yun's voice, Mu Yi'an quickly went outside. The little guy was half asleep and stood at the door calling for his mother.

"Shao Yun, come here."

Mu Yi'an brought over the chamber pot. Shao Yun opened his eyes, looked at his mother, and grinned. He took out his penis and, with a gushing sound, started urinating into the pot.

"Mom, I'm done peeing."

"Alright, go back to sleep for a while."

"Mmm, sleepy."

The little guy ran into the room again. Mu Yi'an heard him get into bed and shook her head. She was going to empty the bedpan now.

Damn it, what kind of mess is this? Mu Yi'an shook her hand; Jiang Shaoyun had just peed on her hand!

After breakfast was ready, the adults and children had all washed up and started eating. The men sat at one table and the women and children at another.

After breakfast, everyone who went to school left, and the house was quiet for a while.

"Second sister-in-law, I'm done packing, let's go."

"Coming, coming right away."

Mu Yi'an tidied up Chu Yue and asked Jiang Shuyun to watch over her. He read in his study, which didn't interfere with taking care of the child.

"Sister-in-law, what are you planning to make for lunch?"

"I'm having a problem right now. My second sister-in-law knows that my cooking skills are just average, and there's only so much I can cook. I see there's a piece of meat at home, and quite a few vegetables in the garden. I've prepared some dough, and I'll steam some buns and stir-fry some vegetables for lunch."

"How about steaming some buns? That way, the rice and vegetables are all taken away, and then we can cook some porridge too."

Mu Yi'an suddenly had a craving for steamed buns. The green beans in the vegetable garden were growing well; they must have been late-season green beans, and they were fresh and tender right now.

"Okay, what kind of filling do you want?"

"Green beans with meat, right? The green beans from the garden are really delicious at this time."

Li Qiuniang nodded repeatedly. She was overjoyed that her second sister-in-law would help with the filling.

"Second sister-in-law, let's hurry up. I'll pick some green beans when we get back."

With lunch secured, Li Qiuniang felt full of energy.

The two walked along the path down the mountain. Mu Yi'an told Li Qiuniang which grasses the sheep liked to eat and which grasses the sheep wouldn't eat.

"Second sister-in-law, how do you know everything?"

“My older brother from my maternal family likes farming and raising animals; he told me that.”

Mu Yi'an pinned the blame on her older brother, Mu Zichen, since he genuinely liked her and it didn't matter whether he had told her or not.
