While Jiang Qi was busy with the moving, in the prefectural city, Master Wan also met with the servants sent back by Doctor Chu.
"Alright, you don't need to worry about how to clean the house. Go to the Jiang family and send a message to your wife's brother-in-law, letting them know that your master and mistress are coming back."
Master Wan was happy to see Nan Sheng's letter and knew they were coming back soon.
His life was filled with hardship; he lost his father in his youth and his son in his early adulthood.
Fortunately, fate was kind to him, and he took in several good apprentices.
He has excellent medical skills and impeccable character.
The eldest disciple is now working at the Imperial Medical Academy in the capital, and his future looks promising. Of the remaining three disciples, the second and third are both by my side, and Nan Sheng, who left a few years ago, has now returned.
When people get old, they don't know how many more years they have left to live. He thought that he would stop caring about anything else, just stay with his wife, grow flowers, and play with the children.
All four apprentices are married and have children. Although they are not related by blood, they grew up together and have a very close relationship.
Thinking about the days ahead when he could enjoy being with his grandchildren, Master Wan couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Meanwhile, the Chu family's servants arrived at the Jiang residence.
"You mean, your master and mistress are moving back to the prefectural city?"
"Reporting to Aunt, Master and Madam have finished dealing with matters in the county town and have come over. They asked me to come and tidy up the house and deliver a message to the Old Master and Uncle."
"Okay, got it. Do you have enough people to clean the house? I'll send someone over to help."
Mu Yi'an was quite happy, not expecting Jiang Qi and the others to return so quickly. She had been in this world for several years and didn't know many people. Jiang Qi was the person she had spent the most time with and had the best relationship with.
"Reporting to Auntie, the old master said that there's no need to worry about cleaning the house; he will send someone to do it."
Now that Master Wan has taken over, Mu Yi'an no longer needs to worry about it, as the two families live quite far apart.
The Wan family lived near the east side of the city, which was in the opposite direction from her house.
Mu Yi'an asked Fang's wife to give a reward to the Chu family's servants, and then went to tell Jiang's mother that Jiang Qi and the others were coming over.
"Yi'an, you said Jiang Qi and the others are moving to the prefectural city?"
In her excitement, Jiang's mother tore off the colorful thread in her hand.
"Grandma, the thread is broken."
Chuyue saw that the colorful thread in her grandmother's hand had broken, and she cried out in surprise, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Oh? Oh dear, Grandma got too excited and tore it off. Grandma will fix it, it's alright."
Jiang's mother realized what was happening. She was helping Fang Mianhua and Chutong separate the threads with Chuyue and Chuqing, and Mianhua was teaching Chutong how to embroider.
"Grandma, it's alright. I'll use this broken one for now."
Fang Mianhua took the broken embroidery thread; it couldn't be pieced back together.
"Chuyue, why don't you take Chuqing to play with Xiaolan and Weixi?"
Mu Yi'an sent the two younger children off to play. Chu Qing was fine, remaining quiet the whole time. Chu Yue, however, sat on the branch line, her bottom fidgeting incessantly as if it had thorns growing from it.
"Mom, you are so good."
Chuyue pulled Chuqing away; she didn't like the branching lines.
"Yi'an, sit down and rest for a while. What did the messenger say? When will Jiang Qi and the others arrive?"
Jiang's mother was worried that her second daughter-in-law would get tired, so she quickly made her sit down and rest for a while.
"Mom, I'm not tired. I've been sitting for half a day, so it's time to get up and move around for a while. The doctor said I should get some exercise."
More than half a month has passed since the diagnosis, and Mu Yi'an has now accepted the fact that she is carrying twins.
Although my belly isn't very noticeable yet, and I haven't felt any fetal movement, that feeling, that indescribable sensation, is still there.
"Yes, you're in a good mood, relax. Shuyun isn't as good as you, he's a bit too nervous."
Jiang's mother thought of her second son. Every day when he came home, she would ask Yi'an with a worried look how he was doing and if he felt unwell.
She didn't quite understand. This wasn't her first pregnancy, so why was she acting like she was seeing Yi'an pregnant for the first time?
Jiang's mother could never have known that this was truly the first time Jiang Shuyun had witnessed Yi'an's pregnancy firsthand. When he arrived, Chuyue had already given birth more than half a year prior.
"My husband is worried because I'm carrying twins. I was also afraid at first. What if something happened during childbirth and I left them and the babies behind?"
"Ptooey, ptooey..."
Jiang's mother spat several times, "Yi'an, you should also spit a few times. You can't say such unlucky things. Everything will go smoothly."
"Ptooey, ptooey..."
Mu Yi'an quickly imitated Jiang's mother and spat a few times.
Whether it's superstition or not, Mu Yi'an can't explain it anymore. Some things are only true if you believe them, and not if you don't.
Jiang's mother was also aware of the risks of twins, and she wanted to avoid anything that might be unfavorable.
“Jiang Lan is about six months pregnant now and will give birth at the end of the year. I was thinking that your father and I would go back first in two months, and then come back after Jiang Lan has given birth safely.”
Jiang's mother was thinking about her youngest daughter. As a mother, her heart was torn apart by all her children, and she was worried about each and every one of them.
"It's true, Jiang Lan is about to give birth."
Mu Yi'an wasn't very concerned about Jiang Lan's affairs, and they didn't usually correspond. Before they came to the prefectural city, Jiang Lan was just three months pregnant.
"After your father and I have settled Jiang Qi and the others in, and since you don't have anything else to do here, we'll head back first."
"You and Shuyun shouldn't go back for the New Year. You'll be quite pregnant then. The round trip will take several days, it's too much trouble and dangerous."
Jiang's mother thought that by the end of the year, Yi'an would be more than seven months pregnant and would not be long before giving birth, so she really couldn't go back to her hometown.
"Okay, we'll listen to Mom. We won't go back for the New Year. We'll go back next year after the delivery goes smoothly."
