Chapter 305 Ancestor Worship

Jiang Shuyun took the child and left her father-in-law's house, then went to Shuwen's place.

"Master, we've arrived."

Li Li got out of the car and helped Shao Ming out. Shao Yun jumped down by himself, landing steadily without swaying.

"Please come inside, sir."

"Oh, it's Brother Shuyun, isn't it Brother Shuyun?"

The young man greeting guests at the door rubbed his eyes and checked again.

"Brother Shuwen, Brother Shuyun is back, really, he's at the door."

The shop assistant's voice was loud, followed by a series of footsteps.

"Second Brother, it really is you! When did you arrive? Shao Ming and Shao Yun are back too. Come in quickly, have you eaten?"

Jiang Shuwen was also very excited. He hadn't seen his second brother for a while. The last time they met was at the twins' 100-day celebration.

"I arrived today, just came from your second sister-in-law's family home. It just so happens that it coincides with the birth of Shao Ming's uncle's child."

"It's born! Boy or girl?"

"Boy, mother and child are safe."

Jiang Shuwen was also very happy to hear this, as his wife was also pregnant, and he liked to hear news of her safety.

"Second Brother, what would you like to eat? I'll boil some vegetables and noodles for you. Your in-laws have some business to attend to. Have you eaten yet?"

"We haven't eaten yet; everyone's just waiting for news."

Jiang Shuyun didn't stand on ceremony with Shuwen and ordered several dishes she wanted to eat. Shao Ming and Shao Yun also ordered what they wanted to eat; they hadn't had this hot pot dish in a long time and were quite craving it.

Jiang Shuwen asked the waiter to prepare food, chatted with his second brother for a while, and then sent someone to his father-in-law's house to call Qiu Niang and the children back.

"Second Brother, I heard that Shuhe went to the Northwest?"

"Well, your second sister-in-law saw a method for growing cotton in an ancient book and wants to try it out. This is still a secret, so just keep it to yourself."

At this time, there was no one else in the shop. Jiang Shuyun said a few words briefly, without mentioning the Northwest Army.

"My second sister-in-law is really bold. She dares to think and act so far away!"

“My brother-in-law is with me. You know, he likes farming and he also likes research.”

"That's true. My second sister-in-law's eldest brother really loves farming. In recent years, he's bought quite a bit of land near the county town."

Second brother, I also bought some land, and I'll plant watermelons next year.

Thanks to my second sister-in-law, the hot pot stall was practically given to me for free; she didn't even charge me for the recipe or anything. And, regarding the agreed-upon profit sharing, she only took a token amount of my initial investment. I got a great deal!

Jiang Shuwen was grateful to his second sister-in-law. Without her help, he wouldn't have the wealth he has now.

"You all know how good your second sister-in-law is. I don't even earn enough to buy my own writing materials right now."

"Second brother, you can't calculate it like that. Your status can't be measured by money; it's not the same thing."

Jiang Shuyun knew he couldn't make such a comparison. He was just consciously letting the rest of the Jiang family know that the family's money was all earned by Yi'an through hard work and had nothing to do with him.

Now that their parents are taking care of them, they might not feel much difference. However, once the children grow up and there are more expenses, there's no guarantee what will happen then.

"Your second sister-in-law is also planning for the future. Don't forget, my family has five children. The son's betrothal gifts and the daughter's dowry all cost money. Your second sister-in-law often laments that having many children is a worry!"

"Haha... Second sister-in-law's concerns are not without reason. In the village, weddings don't cost much money, but in the prefectural city, it's not something that can be solved with ten or twenty taels of silver."

Jiang Shuwen thought about his two sons and the unborn child in his wife's belly, and suddenly realized that his family's meager wealth wasn't enough to do much.

As Shao Ming and Shao Yun listened to their father and third uncle talking about their future marriages, Shao Ming blushed a little, while Shao Yun remained completely unaffected.

He was thinking to himself that he would save up money to get married in the future.

After Li Qiuniang came in, she didn't see her second sister-in-law.

"Second brother, hasn't second sister-in-law come back yet?"

"No, Shao Rong and Shao Ke are still young. I told our father that we will come back to pay respects to our ancestors next year during the Spring Festival."

Li Li, bring over the things your wife prepared.

Jiang Shuyun finished eating and, seeing that it was almost time, decided to deliver the food and head back.

I'm a little tired after such a long boat ride.

"This was chosen by your second sister-in-law for your unborn child. She was afraid that she would be too busy to come over."

"Thank you, Second Sister-in-law. It was the busy farming season then, and you had a lot to do. Please don't make the trip back and forth."

Li Qiuniang accepted the gift with a happy heart; her second sister-in-law still remembered her.

I told Jiang Shuwen and his wife that they were going back to the village tomorrow, and we would talk then.

After visiting the bookstore and reconnecting with Manager He, Jiang Shuyun took the two children back home.

The next day, Jiang Shuyun and her group returned to Jiangjia Village.

Butler Li and his wife went back to settle their belongings, while Jiang Shuyun took the child to the old house.

"Father, Mother, we're back."

"Grandpa, Grandma, we're back."

Jiang's father and mother happened to be in the courtyard. When they saw the three of them get off the carriage, they immediately stood up.

"Shuyun is back, and Shaoming and Shaoyun are back too. Come in, have you eaten?"

"Mother, we've already eaten."

Li Li unloaded the things from the car, and Zhuang Dazhuang followed suit.

“Why did you bring back so much stuff? It’s such a long way, it’s so inconvenient to carry it all. Your father and I don’t need anything. Next time, just come back.”

Looking at the pile of things that was almost a small mountain, Jiang's mother thought to herself, "My second daughter-in-law is really thoughtful."
