Chapter 49 Aunt Jiang is back

Mu Yi'an and Jiang Shuyun got up early; Jiang Qi was going to the Fan family to pick up the divorce papers today.

"Shuyun, look! The sun is about to rise!"

Mu Yi'an pushed open the door and saw the sun just about to rise above the horizon in the east, its bright red color truly uplifting.

"How beautiful! It looks like it's going to be a sunny day today, great!"

When Mu Yi'an saw Li Qiuniang waving at her, she ignored Jiang Shuyun and quickly walked over.

"Second sister-in-law, what attitude should I adopt when I go there today?"

"Everything should be done according to your sister-in-law's wishes. If the Fan family members don't behave, don't hold back. If necessary, take action without hesitation, but control your strength and avoid leaving obvious marks. Women fight, and it's nothing more than a few things: pulling hair, gouging eyes, or even biting. If there are many of them, just target their thighs and pinch their chests."

"Second sister-in-law, I will never lay a hand on you again!"

Li Qiuniang never expected that her seemingly gentle and weak second sister-in-law had so many wicked ideas.

"Hehe... then remember what you said today, I have many more crooked ideas!"

Mu Yi'an deliberately scared her, and the two sisters-in-law chatted and laughed in hushed tones for a few minutes.

"Second sister-in-law, I'll send Shao Kun's clothes and stuff over to you later. Thank you for your hard work today."

Li Qiuniang quickly got down to business: divorce is not something to celebrate, and they should be mindful of the consequences.

"Okay, leave the kids to me. Hurry up and make something to eat; it'll be a long day."

Mu Yi'an and Li Qiuniang went to the kitchen and made pancakes. Since they were going out, they couldn't roll up scallions, so they stir-fried some shredded potatoes, and that was their meal.

Jiang Shuqi came over to help drive the cart, and because they still needed to haul some goods, they hitched up their own mule cart.

Jiang Shuyun thought that she would have to learn how to hitch a ride and catch a train in the future, so that it would be convenient in case something happened. This was the same as needing to take a driving test in her previous life.

The group set off, and Jiang's mother stood at the gate for a long time, her expression not looking too good.

Jiang's sister-in-law was cooking in the kitchen, while Jiang Lan cried alone in her room, heartbroken. Yesterday she could still hope that her sister might change her mind, but now it was a done deal. Was she really destined to live in the countryside forever?

Leaving aside the situation at home, the Jiang family went directly to the Fan family's house upon arriving in the county town. This time, they didn't buy any gifts, as they no longer needed them.

The Fan family was there; Fan Xiucai and his wife, Fan Wenshan, and even the eldest son of the Fan family were at home.

"Brother Jiang, what do you think of this matter?"

"Brother Fan, as long as our two families have come this far, let fate decide the rest."

Mr. Jiang didn't want to exchange too many pleasantries; saying more would only make things a joke.

"Jiang Qi, take your sister-in-law to pack your things."

"Understood, Father."

Jiang Qi didn't look at the Fan family members, and took Li Qiuniang to her room.

Five or six years into their marriage, she didn't have much. Her dowry at the time of the wedding wasn't much either, as the family's financial situation was limited, but her parents did their best to provide for her.

Over the years, I've acquired quite a few things at the Fan family's house, mostly clothes, with only a few pieces of jewelry and not many other items.

Jiang Qi glanced at her bedroom and felt disgusted at the thought of Fan Wenshan and other women mingling there.

"Qiu Niang, thank you for your hard work. I don't have much stuff, let's pack quickly and leave as soon as possible."

"Okay, big sister, you tell me which ones to take, and I'll do the work."

Li Qiuniang specially wore trousers today, which would be convenient for both working and fighting.

Jiang Qi opened her wardrobe and took out her clothes and fabrics, which Li Qiuniang then packed up. From a hidden compartment, she took out her personal savings, including the dowry money from her wedding and the monthly allowance she had received from the Fan family over the past few years.

The various pieces of silver and copper coins, totaling less than a hundred taels, were her means of survival.

There weren't many things, and it didn't take long to pack them all. Her dowry included some large pieces like a dressing table and a display cabinet, and the rest were just some small items like a "descendant bucket," so there was no need to move them back.

This time, the Fan family didn't cause any trouble. They moved their dowry smoothly and went to the county government to complete the divorce papers.

At the same time, an unexpected person arrived at the Jiang family compound.

"Aunt, what brings you here?"

Jiang's wife was picking vegetables in the yard, preparing lunch soon, when she looked up and saw a carriage parked in front of her house. Her aunt, whom she had seen recently, got off the carriage with her maids and servants.

"Wanru, where are your parents?"

“My mother is inside. My father went to the county town on business. Aunt, please come in. It’s quite sunny outside.”

Sister-in-law Jiang greeted them warmly and led them toward the living room.

"Mother, Aunt is here!"

Jiang's sister-in-law called out towards her mother-in-law's room.

She quickly went to pour tea and get some snacks. Jiang's sister-in-law was extremely obsequious to her well-off aunt.

"Auntie is here!"

Hearing her sister-in-law's shout, Jiang Lan rushed out in a panic. Before she could say a word, her eyes were already red.

"Lanlan, what happened?"

Aunt Jiang really liked this pretty little niece. Seeing her looking so aggrieved, she felt so sorry for her that she almost cried out for her.

"aunt……"

Jiang Lan could no longer hold back her tears, which fell in pairs, looking utterly aggrieved.

"Her aunt is here. Is the shop not busy right now?"

When Jiang's mother came in, she looked at her aggrieved little daughter and her distressed sister-in-law, and felt quite upset.

"I'm quite busy, I'm never free. But there's a good thing, I didn't trust anyone else, so I came here myself."

Aunt Jiang is really busy. She doesn't trust the family shop and is involved in almost everything.
