Chapter 51 Mu Yi'an's Thoughts

In the afternoon, Jiang's father and the others returned in a mule cart.

"Shuqi, I'll have to trouble you again to help me move these things in."

"What's the trouble? It's just a small matter."

Jiang Shuqi scratched his head and glanced at Jiang Shuyun. He was quite familiar with Shuyun. He was a little afraid of his uncle, probably because he was the teacher at the academy.

"Dad, go inside and rest for a while. Shuqi and I can handle these things."

"Uncle, please go inside. My second brother and the others saw us when we came back. I called them over, and they'll be here in a bit."

Mr. Jiang was truly exhausted, so he didn't stand on ceremony and slowly walked back to his room.

“Brother Shuyun, I’m a little afraid to breathe loudly in front of my uncle. Just thinking about how he’s a teacher makes me nervous.”

Jiang Shuqi patted his chest, genuinely a little scared.

Jiang Shuyun knew that this was the same conditioned reflex of those students in her previous life who were afraid of their teachers.

Li Qiuniang was anxious to see her child, but she didn't know if her son Shao Kun was crying or making a fuss.

"My sister-in-law is back, but where is my husband's older sister?"

"They're outside. My second brother and the others are getting ready to unload their stuff from the car. Eldest sister, can you tell me how to put it?"

"Mother, Mother, hug me..."

Jiang Shaokun and the others also came out. They had been eating fruit inside when they heard voices in the yard, so they came out.

"Shao Kun, did you listen to your second aunt?"

"Listen, eat, fruit."

Shao Kun now mostly speaks single words, rather than in a continuous flow.

"Second sister-in-law, you've worked hard!"

"It wasn't really that hard. Shao Kun is amazing. He didn't cry, and he didn't wet the bed or his pants!"

"Yes, that's great!"

Shao Kun understood his second aunt's praise, and his face lit up with joy.

"Wow, that's amazing! Second sister-in-law really knows how to do things!"

Li Qiuniang never expected her son to be so obedient. She was truly impressed. Her second sister-in-law's three children were all well taken care of and taught.

"Sister-in-law, you rest for a while, I'm going to check on my sister-in-law."

Mu Yi'an went back into the house first and brought Chu Yue out, putting her on the wooden bed so she could get some fresh air.

"Mother, you go ahead, I'll watch over my sister."

"Thank you, Shao Ming, you've worked hard."

"It's not hard work at all!"

Shao Ming, a small boy, was very happy to be praised and even straightened his little body.

Mu Yi'an patted Shao Ming's head, and Shao Yun also offered his head for his mother to pat.

Mu Yi'an touched each of them one by one before walking out to check on Jiang Qi. Judging from today's situation, this matter was far from over.

"Second sister-in-law, it's so hot, why did you come out?"

Welcome home!

"Thank you, Second Sister-in-law!"

Jiang Qi held back her tears. Her future path would not be smooth; this was only the beginning, and she had to persevere.

Mu Yi'an helped Jiang Qi move things. Clothes and other small items were first put in Jiang's mother's room, while the larger items were put in the gatehouse.

The Jiang brothers were all skilled workers, and they finished moving everything in no time. They then drove the mule cart to the backyard, unloaded it, fed the mules, and went home.

"Shuyun, go wash up and change your clothes. I have something to tell you."

Mu Yi'an leaned close to Jiang Shuyun's ear and whispered something. Luckily, he crouched down a bit, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to reach her. The original owner's height of just over 1.6 meters was still different from her 1.8 meters.

In the room on the east side of the main house, Jiang's mother had already gotten up and was watching Jiang Qi going in and out, rummaging through things.

"Is everything finished?"

"That's it, we'll have nothing to do with each other's marriages from now on."

Jiang's father poured himself a glass of water and drank half of it in one gulp; he was thirsty.

"Mother, please keep these things safe for me."

Jiang Qi handed the box containing her personal savings and jewelry to her mother.

"Okay, Mom will put it away for you. That's what gives you confidence."

Even without opening it, Jiang's mother could guess what was inside.

“Father, Mother, I’m sorry. Father, if my divorce will affect the family, please allow me to leave. I can either establish my own household or go to a nunnery.”

"Don't overthink it. Establishing a female household or a nunnery isn't easy. You're still so young; how can you waste your whole life in that kind of environment?"

Jiang's father knew that his family members had different opinions, but since he had agreed to Jiang Qi's divorce and return home, he wouldn't let her suffer too much.

While the main house was still discussing the matter, Mu Yi'an was telling Jiang Shuyun about Aunt Jiang's arrival.

"So, Jiang Lan is interested in the family Aunt mentioned, and she thinks that Jiang Qi's divorce and return home will affect this marriage?"

"Not only is Jiang Lan interested, but I think my sister-in-law is interested too. She's been subtly encouraging me to help make this marriage happen, saying it will benefit us in the future, especially when the children grow up. I don't know how people these days can be so farsighted. They're already thinking about marriage when their children are still in diapers?"

"It's not like it was back in our day. If you weren't married by your thirties or forties, your family would be anxious and urge you, but nobody else would say anything. Here, people in their thirties and forties are already grandparents. If someone reaches that age and isn't married, people will think there's something wrong with them."

This is a fact, and it's the environment they have to adapt to.

“Shuyun, I’ve been thinking about this today, and this conflict won’t be easily resolved. Jiang Lan won’t compromise easily, and my parents won’t let Jiang Qi go to a nunnery. If we suggest that we separate from the family and live separately with Jiang Qi, will they agree?”

"Separating the family, taking the eldest sister with you?"

Jiang Shuyun had never really thought that way. After all, with her parents still alive, there was no reason for a divorced sister to live alone with her brother and sister-in-law.

"Yes, I want to separate from the family with Jiang Qi. I want to separate so that our living environment can be simpler. Also, I'm going to start growing watermelons next year, and I'll be busy from then on. With someone trustworthy taking care of the house, we can feel at ease."
