Chapter 52 Irreconcilable Conflicts

Hearing someone push open the door and come out of the house, Mu Yi'an took the basin and went back inside.

"Shuyun, go talk to Jiang Qi and see if she agrees to live with us after we separate from the family."

"What's wrong? Are you arguing?"

Jiang Shuyun vaguely heard some voices, but couldn't make out what they were saying.

"I just heard Jiang Lan shouting a lot, and I feel sorry for Jiang Qi. In our area, what's a big deal about divorce?"

Jiang Shuyun understood that this era was not very friendly to women.

In the courtyard, Jiang Qi stood under the eaves. It had been raining all day, there was no moon, and it was pitch black. Only a kerosene lamp flickered on and off.

"Jiang Qi, are you still awake?"

"Second brother, I'll go back to sleep later. I want to come out for some fresh air. It's raining and a bit stuffy."

"Second brother has something to tell you, come over here."

Jiang Shuyun invited Jiang Qi to her study. This matter was still unresolved and needed to be kept secret.

"Second brother, what's wrong?"

"I just want to ask you, if we split up, would you mind living with us?"

"Live with you?"

“Yes, your second sister-in-law, your three children, and you, let’s move out. That way, your eldest sister-in-law won’t have any objections, and your younger sister can marry into the family she wants.”

Jiang Qi was a little confused. Was the family going to split up? Was it because of her?

"Second brother, is it because of me that the family is splitting up?"

"Not entirely. As the tree grows, branches will naturally emerge, and dividing the family is inevitable. Your situation is only part of the reason. I will discuss with my parents the possibility of separating the family with you. As for what to do with the other two branches, that will depend on my parents' decision."

Jiang Shuyun explained his plan, admitting that he also had his own ulterior motives.

"Second brother, second sister-in-law, don't you mind? We still have Chuyue at home."

“If your second sister-in-law doesn’t mind, Jiang Qi, I’m not doing this entirely for you. Our family has a lot of things to do and a lot of work to do. Your second sister-in-law’s family is quite well-off, and she doesn’t do many things at home. I was thinking that if we separate the family, your second sister-in-law will have an easier time. Besides, there’s still you. I won’t let you eat for free!”

Jiang Shuyun's last joke relieved Jiang Qi.

"Second brother, if you don't mind, I'm willing to live with you. I have hands and feet, and I can do many things. I won't let you support me for nothing."

Jiang Qi wasn't the type to hesitate, otherwise she wouldn't have chosen to divorce so readily.

"Okay, go to sleep. I'll talk to Dad about this tomorrow. Jiang Qi, getting a divorce isn't your fault. Don't feel sorry for anyone. You did nothing wrong."

"I understand, Second Brother."

Jiang Qi smiled slightly and left her second brother's study with light steps.
