Chapter 59 The house deal is settled.

"How's the house? Have you found one you like?"

Jiang's father invited Jiang Shuyun to sit down and talk. Shuyun had been through a lot of trouble lately and was quite exhausted.

"I've found one I like. The yard is spacious, and the house is well-maintained. Although the price is a bit high, there are two wells in the yard, one in the front yard and one in the back yard. I'll discuss it with Yi'an later, and if she has no objections, we'll buy it."

“I’ve been to that house a few times. It’s been renovated and looks great. It will be very spacious for you to live in. From now on, I’ll entrust your sister and Dad to you and your second wife.”

Jiang's father felt a pang of sadness; he felt sorry for his daughter and his son.

“Dad, you don’t need to feel guilty. It’s not easy for my younger sister to live with us either. She has to help take care of three children.”

"Of course, of course. That way she'll be more comfortable. She won't feel like she's living under someone else's roof, and you guys will be more relaxed around her too."

Mr. Jiang was also relieved. His eldest daughter had been sensible since childhood and had a broad-minded personality. She would be fine wherever she was, except in the Fan family.

"Father, we're moving out. What should we do with the house in the east wing?"

“I will have your eldest brother pay for the house for you. This courtyard will eventually be inhabited by their family. Your third brother works in the county town, and his wife’s family is also from the county town. They will most likely settle down in the county town in the future.”

Jiang's father saw things clearly and understood that the distribution was reasonable.

"Okay, that's good. Otherwise, after buying the house, I really won't have much money left."

Jiang Shuyun had finished speaking with her father, bowed, and left the study. She needed to discuss something with Yi'an.

How's the house?

"There are five main rooms, and the front and back yards are also large, with wells in each. The yard walls are more than one and a half meters high, made of stone at the bottom and mud bricks on top, and they look very sturdy."

The east and west wing rooms are also nice, and there are storage rooms and livestock sheds in the backyard. Overall, it looks good and is very cost-effective. My uncle said it was ninety-five taels, and my eldest uncle and I think it's worth the price.

The house is on the way to town, at one end. The neighbors on the left are my uncle's cousin's family. I asked them, and my uncle said they're all reasonable people.

Jiang Shuyun shared the information she had gathered with Mu Yi'an and waited for instructions from her superior.

"That's great, Jiang Shuyun. You're becoming more and more thoughtful and down-to-earth in handling matters!"

Although Mu Yi'an didn't see the courtyard, based on Jiang Shuyun's description, she felt it was a nice place, and their new life was about to begin.

"And what about our current house?"

“I talked to Dad, and he said that my eldest brother should buy it. This courtyard is for their family to live in from now on, and it can’t be sold to outsiders.”

"That's true, as long as they pay, that's fine."

After discussing it with his wife, Jiang Shuyun went out again to find his maternal uncle and tell his paternal uncle that they had bought the house.

"Shuyun is here?"

"Auntie, I'm looking for my uncle."

As soon as Jiang Shuyun entered her uncle's courtyard, she saw her aunt sitting in the yard cleaning vegetables.

"Your eldest uncle is inside. Go in and find him."

"You've made a decision so quickly?"

Uncle Wang came out when he heard Jiang Shuyun's voice.

"Uncle, we've made up our minds. We've bought the courtyard house belonging to our cousin. We'll need you to come with me to our cousin's house to discuss when to get the paperwork done."

“Okay, let’s go over there now. You can tidy up the yard a bit and it’ll be habitable. Move there as soon as possible and settle in so you can focus on your studies.”

"I think so too; studying is the top priority."

Jiang Shuyun bowed to her aunt and then followed her uncle to her cousin's house.

"Zhongwu, Shuyun is here and she's talking to you about the house."

"Brother Zhonglin, Shuyun, come in and talk."

Wang Zhongwu had a loud voice and beckoned Jiang Shuyun and her niece to come in.

Jiang Shuyun had no recollection of her cousin's new house; she seemed to have never been there before. This place was in a different direction from their house, located at the easternmost edge of the village.

“Zhongwu, Shuyun has decided to buy your family's courtyard. When do you have time, go to town to get the paperwork done. Let him move there as soon as possible, settle down, and focus on his studies.”

"We can go tomorrow. Zhonglin will act as a middleman, and we'll take the bus to town."

“Okay, let’s go together tomorrow morning. Once it’s all done, have him pack up quickly and move in on an auspicious day.”

Uncle Wang was anxious. These past few days, the Jiang family had been busy, and Shuyun hadn't been able to study properly. He was the best student among the Jiang and Wang families of this generation, and his studies couldn't be neglected.

"Then it's settled. We'll meet at the crossroads outside the village tomorrow at Chenchu."

"Okay, see you tomorrow."

Uncle Wang led Jiang Shuyun out of Wang Zhongwu's house, and they parted ways at the intersection, each going their own way.

When Jiang Shuyun arrived home, her elder brother Jiang had already delivered the money for the house, exactly twelve taels.

"My sister-in-law brought it over, and she looked very unhappy. I really can't understand her. Isn't it only natural to give money for buying a house? She really doesn't have any good intentions at all."

Inside the east wing, Mu Yi'an and Jiang Shuyun were complaining about Jiang's sister-in-law.

"That's just her personality. The original couple were both quiet and reserved, and they didn't hold grudges. Then the third sister-in-law who married into the family is straightforward and speaks her mind directly. Without comparison, there's no harm done, and the flaws in the eldest sister-in-law's personality are not easily noticed."

After observing the Jiang family members for some time, Jiang Shuyun had gained a fairly good understanding of their personalities.

"That's true, people are afraid of being compared. But we're moving soon, and since we'll be far apart and not eating from the same pot, there will be fewer conflicts."
