After returning from the county town, Mu Yi'an went back to her parents' home to see her second sister-in-law and the children.
"Yi'an, you came by yourself, where are the children?"
"Sister-in-law, I didn't bring the children with me, and I can't stay here for long either. I need to plant melon seedlings soon, so I don't have time."
Mu Yi'an exchanged a few words with his eldest sister-in-law, and the two of them went into his second sister-in-law's room together.
"Second sister-in-law, congratulations! You've worked hard!"
"Little sister-in-law, you've arrived! Come and see your two little nephews and nieces."
Second Sister-in-law Mu recovered quite quickly; in just a few days, she showed no signs of postpartum weakness. It takes a strong constitution; most people couldn't do that.
"Let me see, our Mu family's twins."
Mu Yi'an moved closer, looking at the two little ones lying side by side. They had shed their newborn downy hair, and their skin was no longer rosy, but much whiter. However, it was still difficult to tell who the newborns resembled.
"Isn't it very sturdy?"
"Yes, Second Sister-in-law is amazing. Her two children look almost the same as those born in the first pregnancy."
After praising the children and their mother, Mu Yi'an presented her gift.
"Sister-in-law, you've gone to so much trouble."
Looking at the two exquisite longevity locks, Sister-in-law Mu felt relieved. Her sister-in-law was a grateful person, not someone who only took and never gave.
Mu Yi'an didn't stay in her second sister-in-law's room for long. She gave her gifts, checked on the adults and children, told her to rest well, and then left.
"Yi'an is here, but where are the children?"
Mu's mother came out of the vegetable garden, still covered in mud.
"Mother, where have you been?"
"Let's tidy up the vegetable garden together. There are too many seedlings, so let's prune them."
After washing her hands, Mu's mother took her daughter back to their room.
Why didn't you bring the children?
"I'm going back soon, so I didn't bring it with me. I need to plant melon seedlings tomorrow, and I still need to haul things back with me."
Mu Yi'an explained that her mother wanted to have several children.
"That's right, your older brother said yesterday that the melon seedlings are almost ready to be planted."
Mother Mu knew that her daughter's family was counting on these melon seedlings to turn their lives around. If they succeeded, they would have more money to spare in the future.
Mu Yi'an talked with her mother for a while, then went to check on her older brother's watermelon seedlings, which were growing quite well.
"How was it? Not bad, right?"
"Not bad, in two more days, it'll be time to plant it."
"You'll start losing tomorrow?"
Brother Mu looked at the watermelon seedlings he had carefully tended and felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Seeing that it was almost time, Mu Yi'an didn't eat at her parents' house. Instead, she and Jiang Shuhe, carrying the fermented fish intestines that her older brother had prepared, returned to Jiangjia Village.
"Shuhe, take these things to the field and ask your older brother to help you unload them. We'll start planting melon seedlings tomorrow."
"Okay, sister-in-law, I'll go right away."
Jiang Shuhe drove off, and Mu Yi'an didn't go into her own house but went to her cousin's house next door.
"Aunt, are you home?"
"Yes, Yi'an, come in quickly. You're back from your parents' home. How are the children? I haven't seen the twins yet."
"It's all good. My second sister-in-law is in good health, and both the adults and children are doing well."
Mu Yi'an talked about some things concerning children, thinking to herself that her Chuyue should also exercise in the future, and might become like Lin Daiyu.
"That's good, is your mother happy now?"
"Yes, I'm happy."
Mu Yi'an came over to ask her aunt and uncle if they had time tomorrow, as she wanted to hire someone to plant watermelon seedlings.
"We can plant now? That's so fast, it feels like it hasn't been that long. We have time, it will take several more days to harvest the wheat."
"We'll go to the fields a little earlier tomorrow and try to finish planting as soon as possible."
Mu Yi'an didn't stay long while she talked about this, as she had other things to arrange at home.
The next day, not only did many people from my maternal uncle's family come, but also the family of Jiang's third uncle. Jiang's mother also came to visit, along with my great-grandfather and third grandfather.
"Shuyun's wife, you've taken such good care of these watermelon seedlings. Although this is the first time I've seen watermelon seedlings, I've farmed all my life and such good seedlings are rare."
"Grandpa, thank you for the compliment."
Looking at the thriving seedlings, Mu Yi'an felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Yesterday afternoon, Mu Yi'an had already had Uncle Jiang and the others dig the pits. Since there were no pesticides to prevent pests and diseases, Mu Yi'an brewed a similar solution himself using Chinese herbal medicine and thoroughly watered the seedling pits.
"Yi'an, how do we use this fertilizer?"
Brother Mu arrived early; he wanted to see the transplanting process.
"First, use a wooden spoon to scoop a spoonful of fertilizer into the hole, then cover it with a layer of soil, and then plant the seedlings."
Mu Yi'an demonstrated, and everyone understood how to do it after watching her.
Those who understood the process divided into groups: some were responsible for applying fertilizer, some for covering the soil, some for tearing off the paper tubes from the watermelon seedlings, and some for planting the seedlings...
With everyone working together, the pace was quite fast.
Mu Yi'an, Jiang Shuyun, and Brother Mu were also busy. They worked together, and with many hands making light work, they were able to finish planting all thirty acres of land today.
"Shuyun's wife, is planting these watermelon seedlings enough? Will they bear watermelons right away?"
Grandpa was quite excited when he saw the watermelon seedlings for the first time. He thought, "If they all grow into watermelons, how much money could I make!"
