Side Story (4): The Carefree Young Master Jiang Shaorong

Mu Yi'an experienced the feeling of the fetus moving inside her belly and feeling the fetal movements, because she was really pregnant.

Life is miraculous, beyond your imagination. A seed takes root and sprouts in your belly, slowly growing.

Because of giving birth to Shao Rong and Shao Ke, Mu Yi'an truly experienced the hardships of ten months of pregnancy.

As children grow up, their personalities change.

Shao Rong was the one who knew how to enjoy life the most among the children.

When he was born, his family was already quite well-off and had moved to the prefectural city.

From a young age, he was eloquent, loved to eat delicious food, and had little enthusiasm for anything else.

Watching his eldest brother study hard, he felt tired; watching his second brother get up at the crack of dawn to practice, he also felt it wasn't easy.

Although he didn't like reading or practicing martial arts, his parents said that they wouldn't raise a useless person in the family.

No matter who you are, you must be able to support yourself and your wife and children in the future.

Because of this, Shao Rong once thought that she would not get married or have children in the future, because raising children is too hard.

However, he dared not say such things in front of his parents, for fear of being scolded.

Even if you don't like it, you still have to learn what you need to learn and practice what you need to practice.

As far back as he can remember, he was supervised by his eldest brother to study and forced to practice martial arts by his second brother.

Because he's young, he can't win, so he can only be ruled.

He felt that neither his parents were as strict as his older brothers.

Finally, his elder brother passed the imperial examination with top honors and stayed in the capital to serve as an official, so no one was watching him anymore.

However, once a habit is formed, it cannot be changed overnight. Just get up and exercise when the time comes.

He was studying, and although his older brother was gone, he had a twin brother.

Jiang Shaoke is a poor younger brother; he is always taciturn and likes to think things through alone.

I've never been a very active person and prefer to be alone quietly.

However, it didn't affect his martial arts training; his skills were even better than his, and he was completely outmatched.

The two participated in the county examination together and obtained the title of Xiucai (a scholar who passed the lowest level of the imperial examinations) in the same year.

In the following days, Shao Ke went to Bailu Academy, where he found books he liked.

Shao Rong no longer planned to pursue the imperial examinations; they wanted to travel and enjoy the world with their brother-in-law.

His parents did not force him to achieve higher academic honors, as long as he did not become a commoner.

He had traveled to the Northwest with his older sister and brother-in-law and seen the boundless desert.

I've been to the southernmost part of the Dali Dynasty, exploring the endless mountains and forests, and experiencing a different kind of local customs and culture.

The year Shao Ke passed the imperial examination, his first travelogue was published.

Once placed in the bookstore, it was quickly snapped up.

He, his sister, and his brother-in-law each published a travelogue. His sister, from a female perspective, wrote about the mountains and rivers they had visited in the form of stories.

My brother-in-law has completely mastered the essence of his father-in-law's simple sketches, surpassing his master in skill.

The entire travelogue contains very few words; it is all pictures, vivid and lively.

His travelogue, a mix of truth and fiction, is told in the form of myths and legends.

He always felt that other humans lived in places unknown to them.

Just like the heaven and the underworld that people talk about, there are different kinds of people there.

The year Shao Ke passed the imperial examination, his parents asked him if he wanted to meet his future spouse.

"Father, Mother, I really want to go to sea."

"Go out to sea, where to?"

"I don't know, there's a caravan going on an expedition to see if the sea has an end. I want to go with them and see if there are other people in places we don't know about."

Mu Yi'an and Jiang Shuyun were stunned for a moment. Was this about to explore a new continent?

"Aren't you afraid of danger? The vast ocean stretches to the horizon, and no one knows what you'll face?"

"It would be a lie to say I wasn't afraid, but curiosity overcame my fear. Mom and Dad, I don't like studying or practicing martial arts, so I have to find something to do."

If, and I mean if, I don't come back, don't be too sad, don't resent your son, just consider our fate as having ended there.

"In my next life, I want to be reborn as your son again."

Shao Rong choked up a little. He felt reluctant to part with his parents, who were the best parents he could ever have.

"Is it absolutely necessary to go?"

"We absolutely have to go!"

Mu Yi'an and Jiang Shuyun didn't say anything more, but prepared money and manpower for him.

"Father, Mother, I'm sorry!"

Jiang Shaorong knelt down, kowtowed to her parents, and said goodbye.

Perhaps this is goodbye forever, but he still wants to go, to see further places.

"Shuyun, Shao Rong will come back safely, right?"

"I don't know, but we do know that the Earth is round and there are other countries on the other side."

But in this era, with this technology, what they will encounter in the vast ocean, no one knows.

"I really don't want him to go, but I don't want him to regret it for the rest of his life." Mu Yi'an felt sad. The child she raised was only in his twenties and was going on an adventure. She didn't even know if he would come back.

How can someone who prides himself on being a carefree playboy and wants to spend his whole life eating, drinking, and having fun not be afraid of getting tired?

No matter how worried Mu Yi'an was, it was to no avail. At the dock in the prefectural city, five large ships set sail.

The first year, the second year, the third year...

Mu Yi'an felt like she was about to lose a son; it had been five years and Shao Rong still hadn't returned.

"Shuyun, do you think Shao Rong can come back?"

"I don't know, maybe he found a new continent and lived happily ever after there."

"I hope so!"

Shao Rong, who had been nagged by his parents, had already arrived at the Fucheng Wharf.

Of those who went out with him, two did not return; the rest were still there.
