10. If I can’t have it, I don’t want it.

10. If I can’t have it, I don’t want it.

At four o'clock on Monday afternoon, the door of the conference room opened and colleagues came out singing and holding a birthday cake. She didn't react until they came to Wenhua.

How should I put it? The date on the ID card is wrong. Wenhua was the second child born to avoid fines under the family planning policy in the early 1990s. She was sent to her grandmother in the countryside as soon as she was born. Her household registration was also an independent household registration obtained through connections. The person who helped her with the matter didn't remember her date of birth at all and just filled in a random one.

Wen's mother later explained that the year was correct, but the month was a few months late. Wen Hua realized the benefit of this after she started working. Using the date on her ID card, she could always be a few months younger than her peers. She sometimes thought that it would be better if the year was also filled in incorrectly, the younger the better. When she joked about this with her family, her mother always looked embarrassed and laughed and asked how could she not remember her date of birth.

You see, everyone says that smelling flowers is fun, but her family can't understand her sense of humor. She has too many sensitive points and is always prone to making mistakes.

After accepting the company's blessings, Wenhua wore a birthday hat, blew out the candles and ate the cake. Her colleagues took many photos and posted them on WeChat Moments, and Wenhua liked and expressed her gratitude to each one.

At six o'clock, they were supposed to work overtime, but the boss was merciful and said that the birthday girl didn't have to work overtime. Wen Hua walked away in a swagger amid the jealous and envious gazes of her colleagues. When she went downstairs, she saw Lin Zhengze.

It has been more than a month since the two of them last saw each other. Although they occasionally chatted on WeChat, they never mentioned what happened that night again, and Lin Zhengze did not tease her like he did last time.

"Why are you here?" Wen Hua walked over and asked.

"Let's have dinner together," Lin Zhengze said to her as he put out his cigarette.

Unexpectedly, she went to his house. Wenhua looked around at the decoration of his house. There were many anime figures on the shelves in the living room, which surprised her.

Lin Zhengze was busy in the kitchen. Wenhua walked over and asked him if he needed help. He said no and connected her to WIFI. Wenhua sat in front of the kitchen counter and watched him cook.

His fingers were long and white, and Wen Hua was a hand control. She kept staring at his hands in a daze, "Why don't you become a surgeon?"

"Huh? Why do you want to be a surgeon?" Lin Zhengze looked at her, her hands handling the ingredients skillfully. It can be seen that she is someone who cooks often.

"You must look good holding a scalpel in your hand!" Wen Hua said.

Lin Zhengze shook his head helplessly and said, "The patient doesn't think so."

He prepared Sukiyaki. Wenhua had eaten little at noon, but now her appetite seemed to be greatly stimulated. After washing her hands, she came out and found that Lin Zhengze had already set the table. Wenhua rubbed her hands and sat down. The air conditioner in the room was at a high temperature, and Wenhua's forehead was sweating from eating. She took off her coat and started eating in a short-sleeved shirt. Lin Zhengze turned around and went to the bedroom to take out one of his shirts and put it on her. She rolled up her sleeves and ate happily.

After dinner, Wen Hua wanted to rush to clean up, but Lin Zheng said it was not necessary, as a part-time worker would come to clean up soon, and he said he would take her somewhere.

Halfway through the drive, she realized that she was still wearing his shirt and she couldn't go back to change it now. She opened the mirror and looked at herself carefully, "Hmm... I look pretty good in men's clothes. I'll go to the men's store to buy clothes tomorrow."

Lin Zhengze smiled without saying anything. It was already dark when they drove all the way to the beach. She got out of the car, smelled the flowers, felt the sea breeze, and opened her arms comfortably to breathe in the smell of the sea water, which was a bit fishy. She walked over and sat down on the sand, looking up at the starry sky. In the distance, people were talking and laughing in groups of three or four.

Bang~ The quiet night sky was blown up by fireworks. Wen Hua opened her eyes and looked at the scene of fireworks. She jumped up and exclaimed, "Wow! Where do the fireworks come from~".

Not far away, Lin Zhengze glanced at her and lit the fireworks in front of him. Wen Hua ran over happily and was pulled into his arms and hugged, "Happy birthday."

Wen Hua put her arms around his waist and whispered thank you.

Wen Hua’s friends all know that she never celebrates her birthday. She will attend her friends’ birthday parties, give gifts and blessings thoughtfully and politely, and send blessings to every one of them on her Moments and Weibo, but when it’s her turn, she is reluctant to do so. She always says that birthdays are boring and she likes them less and less as she gets older.

Everyone knows that she never celebrates her birthday, but no one knows that she has never celebrated a birthday.

She was raised by her grandparents since she was a child. The old people had no concept of buying cakes or singing birthday songs for birthdays. They just made delicious food for her on her birthday. When she was in elementary school, she would envy her classmates' birthday parties and secretly hope that she would also have a big cake and blessings from her classmates.

As she got older, she stopped thinking about it. Since she couldn't have it, she didn't want it. She started telling her college classmates that birthdays were boring and she didn't like them. After she started working, she told her friends that she didn't like the formality of it as she got older.

Celebrating birthdays is a childish thing and not cool at all.

She could come up with ten thousand reasons not to celebrate her birthday, but at this moment she didn't want to say anything.

Leaning on his chest and looking at the fireworks in front of her, she felt that it was great to have a birthday, and the words "Happy Birthday" had meaning for the first time.
