41. Let go and relax
It’s not like he disappeared, because Wen Hua called him back on the third day.
"Something happened at home, so I went home and fixed my broken phone."
Grandpa was in the hospital. He had a relapse of cerebral infarction and half of his body was paralyzed. Wenhua received a call from her aunt at home that night and asked for leave. She flew back that night and stayed in the hospital for two days. Her phone ran out of battery, but she didn't want to charge it at all.
On the third day, her grandfather was able to move again, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief. The doctor said that she would observe his recovery for a few more days with medication. It was very good that he was able to feel consciousness, as he would usually become paralyzed at this age.
Wenhua was sitting in the ward, and the elders were discussing how to take care of her in case she became paralyzed. Wenhua's grandfather had a son and a daughter. The daughter lived locally, only a 20-minute drive away. Usually, her aunt would come to the house every other day to have dinner with the old man and visit him. This time, it was thanks to her aunt that she came to the house and discovered the disease in time, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous. As for the son, needless to say, his parents went to another city to work and settle down before Wenhua was born.
She was annoyed by what she heard, so she stood up and said she would go home to cook. What else could she do? If she really became paralyzed, she would just come back.
Fortunately, a week later, grandpa was able to walk slowly. Even the doctor said he didn't expect it. The whole family breathed a sigh of relief. After he was discharged from the hospital, the family discussed and decided to hire a nanny. Even though Wenhua was 27 years old, she was still a child at home and had no say in major matters.
During the time she came back, she had been running back and forth to the hospital at home and hadn't seen her friends. Now that her grandfather has recovered, she went out to meet old friends. While having dinner, she actually met Xiao Ma's husband who was having dinner with a client.
"Where is my godson?" Wen Hua stepped forward to greet him.
"He's at his grandmother's house. He was saying hello to his godmother a few days ago. Oh, by the way, a man called me a few days ago and asked if you were back." Yang Lin was also surprised to see her, "I didn't even know when you were back."
"I've been back for a week. I came back to see my grandfather who was in the hospital."
After chatting for a few more sentences, they went about their own business. The next day, Wenhua went to Xiaoma's house for a meal. Xiaoma's father raised a bunch of pigeons on the roof, and Xiaoma's mother made braised pigeons. When Wenhua was in high school, Xiaoma's mother enthusiastically picked up some mushrooms for her when she went there for the first time. She was embarrassed to refuse, so Xiaoma smiled and told her mother that Wenhua didn't eat mushrooms. From then on, there were no mushrooms when she went there for a meal.
The next morning, she had to take a taxi to the airport. Wenhua went home early to spend some time with her grandfather. When the taxi arrived at the intersection of the community, she saw a familiar figure standing on the roadside through the car window. For a moment, she didn't realize where she was.
"Oh my God, you didn't install a tracker on me, did you?" Wen Hua got out of the car and greeted him with a smile. It was originally a joke, but Lin Zhengze's face changed.
"I'm going back tomorrow. Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" she said again.
"Did you tell me? Did you tell me when you came back? Will you tell me when you go back tomorrow?" Lin Zhengze asked her with a cold face.
Wen's mother called and asked her if she would come back for dinner. Wen Hua said she was having dinner with her classmates and would be back later. After hanging up the phone, she hailed a car, took him in, and told him the name of a hotel.
"Give me your ID card." There was no conversation along the way. When we arrived at the hotel, Wenhua went to book a room. After checking in, she used his ID card to book a plane ticket. Fortunately, there were tickets available, so she bought tickets for the same flight.
After entering the room, Lin Zhengze still didn't say anything. He just looked at her coldly, waiting to see what she would do next.
"Can I order some of our special dishes for you?" Wen Hua took a deep breath, changed her expression to be flattering, sat on his lap and spoke softly.
"Order takeout? Are you afraid that others will see you and me together?" His tone was full of sarcasm. Wen Hua was stunned after he finished speaking. He smiled self-deprecatingly, holding her hand tightly, and said word by word, "Your mother is urging you to get married so urgently, but you haven't thought about telling your family about us, right?"
I never said it, never thought about saying it, and never thought he cared about it.
The next morning, her uncle drove her to the station with Wen's father. It took two hours by bus to the airport, and her flight was at 1 p.m. They said goodbye at the station. Wen's father told her to take good care of herself and not to worry about grandpa. She said okay.
Which flight did he take? Is he at the airport now? Wen Hua opened WeChat, and the conversation stopped at his last message, sent around ten o'clock last night: "I'm leaving."
Wen Hua remembered that she was preparing to remove her makeup, and the makeup remover oil got into her eyes, and tears couldn't stop flowing. She wiped her hands and searched for ticket information. There was no shuttle bus at that time. What bus did he take?
As the plane soared into the sky, Wen Hua looked at the empty seats several rows away. Her stomach felt uneasy and she doubled over in pain. His words before she left last night were still ringing in her ears.
"You have determined from the bottom of your heart that this is a fleeting relationship, and you only care about the day and not a happy ending. It must have been very hard for you to try to please me during this period?" He said in a calm tone, his eyes as calm as a lake, which made her panic. "You must feel uncomfortable when I come to you like this? Do you feel uncomfortable with my constant pressure? Don't get me wrong, you are still my girlfriend at this moment. As a man, my sense of responsibility and cultivation do not allow me to ignore you like this. But it is really boring to see you working so hard. Why not let go and relax for both of us?"
"Wenhua, do you think I can't live without you?"
