5. Middle-aged women are extremely capable
Looking at the friend request on WeChat, Wen Hua was stunned for a full minute.
[Hello, Aunt Zheng introduced me].
Aunt Zheng sent a WeChat message at the same time, "I'd like to introduce a boy to you, please add him. He works in a big company and has a good income. We should get along well."
"Mom, you really have extraordinary abilities! You can even introduce me to someone thousands of kilometers away."
"You're already 28, so why are you still single?"
"I repeat, I'm 26! False age is a traditional bad practice and should be completely despised!"
"You chat first."
She didn't mind the blind date, but the blind date was really unreliable and almost every word he said touched her sore spot.
She asked casually which district he worked in, and the other party replied that they had to meet in person to discuss it.
She could feel the other party's domineering, evil, and arrogant demeanor even through the screen. Wen Hua did not reply, but only hoped that the other party could feel her rolling eyes even through the screen.
For the next three days, the other party was like her boyfriend. He sent her a WeChat message at 7:30 in the morning to wake her up, asked her if she had eaten at 8 o'clock, asked her if she had arrived at the company at 9 o'clock, asked her if she had eaten at 12 o'clock, and asked her if she had gotten off work at 6 o'clock.
Wenhua replied uniformly, no.
The other party formally proposed a meeting, but Wen Hua declined. In the evening, she received an angry call from her biological mother.
We had an appointment at the weekend, and the Sichuan restaurant we had arranged to go to was right across the street from where we had Western food last time. Thinking of that night, Wen Hua calculated the time and realized that we hadn't been in touch for more than a month.
It was Wenhua's first blind date and she didn't know the rules. She hesitated whether she should introduce herself and tell her that she had no house, no car, no money, no plans to get married or have children, and didn't even want to eat this meal.
Fortunately, the other party was a talkative person and asked many questions. Meeting in person was more sincere than being online. Most of the time we talked about the difficulties at work and the troubles of renting a house and finding a job in another place. The atmosphere was quite harmonious.
"You can eat spicy food quite well. Aunt Zheng is right when she said that you love spicy food. Actually, I like spicy food too."
"Really? That's great," Wen Hua looked at the time and prepared to say goodbye. The other party insisted on taking her home, and it was useless for her to refuse again and again.
Have you ever had that awkward moment where you knew the situation was perfectly normal and not dangerous, but you just didn't want to spend even one more second with that person, especially in a closed car?
Just as she was feeling distressed, Wen Hua looked up and saw a familiar figure at the restaurant door in front of her, and she felt a sense of relief as if she had been rescued.
"Lin Zhengze!"
He walked over slowly and stood in front of the two of them, "Why are you here?"
"We just finished our meal. Um, didn't you say you had something to talk to me about?" Wen Hua winked.
"Well, let's go," Lin Zhengze pulled her over and left. Wen Hua turned around to say goodbye to her blind date, then followed him without looking back.
"Blind date?"
"Wow, you're a fortune teller!"
Lin Zhengze smiled and said nothing. When he was waiting for his friend on the roadside, he saw Wen Hua sitting at the dining table by the window.
The two of them walked to the door of the hot pot restaurant. The two men and one woman looked at Wenhua curiously. Wenhua then reacted and hurriedly said that she would leave first.
Lin Zhengze didn't give her a chance. He said hello to his friends and pulled her in.
The hot pot was delicious, but it couldn't compare to the fact that she had just eaten a bunch of Sichuan dishes five minutes ago. Wen Hua pushed the menu handed to her by Lin Zhengze and whispered to him, "I just finished eating, and you are having a party with friends, so why don't I leave first."
"That's all. Bring me some sour plum juice to whet your appetite," Lin Zhengze said to the waiter, ignoring her.
The five of them looked at each other, waiting for their food to be served. It was the lady across from them who couldn't help but speak first, "Comrade Lao Lin, please introduce your girlfriend."
Wen Hua shook her head like a rattle. Lin Zhengze looked at her and said simply, "This is Wen Hua."
Which one? Flowers? Culture! Your parents want you to study hard, don’t they?
Wenhua has been hearing jokes like this that are so funny that she has to endure it since she was a child. After pretending to smile and agreeing with them for the ten thousandth time, she thought, parents really shouldn't be so capricious when naming their children. They can't just do whatever they want just because they have the names of their eldest and second children!
Since the food was already at the table, who wouldn't move their chopsticks? Everyone was eating happily, and it would be too tactless for her to just sit there like a Buddhist and let others persuade her. So Wen Hua tried her best to eat a little more.
When I came out, I was already holding on to the wall.
"It's still early, do you want to go for a drink?" Lin Zhengze came over and asked her after saying goodbye to his friends.
Wen Hua could hear the joke, so she gave him a blank look and walked forward. She found a pharmacy, bought some digestive medicine, and swallowed it with the water.
"So full? Didn't you say you had hot pot for dinner and a bunch of barbecue for supper?"
"Brother! Dinner and midnight snack! Can't there be a fucking few hours between them? Try eating two meals in a row!"
Lin Zhengze sent her home. She lay on the bed, groaning and massaging her stomach, when her mother called.
"You have a boyfriend"
"I haven't heard of it. Who is it?"
"Xiao Li said that you left with a guy after dinner. What's wrong with you? You have a partner but you didn't tell your family. How can I explain this to the person who introduced you to me?"
"No, slow down. Whoever has a partner is holding one!"
The call lasted for a full half hour and ended with Wen's mother asking her to go home for the New Year and bring her boyfriend back.
"Don't come back without your boyfriend," said Wen's mother.
"Then I'll wish you a happy new year in advance!"
