66. I am here and I will not leave
It was a week later that Lin Zhengze found out that Xiao Ma had passed away. During this period, he sent Xiao Ma several friend requests but received no response. He still had Xiao Ma's husband's phone number saved, so he called him and found out the truth.
Xiao Ma committed suicide. She left home late at night after putting her child to sleep. Her body was found at the foot of the mountain on the third night. There was a note in the pocket of her tight shirt, which read "I'm sorry, I don't want to be a mother."
Lin Zhengze hung up the phone and drove home. The WeChat on his PAD was offline. He opened Wen Hua's computer and found the manuscript from a pile of documents. The story ended at the same place as the online serial, with no final chapter.
He no longer had the ability to think about whether his behavior was appropriate. He had no strength left in his body. The words that Wen Hua said to him with a smile were replaying in his mind like a movie: "Spend Christmas with Xiao Ma, it's a tradition", "I have to spend my birthday with Xiao Ma", "Xiao Ma told me...", "Xiao Ma advised me..."
It was already past nine o'clock when Wen Hua came back. The house was pitch black. She turned on the light and went back to the bedroom. When she passed by the study, she was startled by the figure inside.
"Why are you sitting like this? I'm scared to death!" Wen Hua turned on the light in the study.
"Is something wrong?" Wenhua saw that something was wrong with him and he looked very sad.
Lin Zhengze held her in his arms and sat with his head resting on her chest without saying a word. Wen Hua also didn't say anything. They sat in this position for a long time.
Wen Hua didn't know what had happened to make him so depressed. She wondered if she should give him some space and go to the guest room to sleep. Just then, Lin Zhengze came out of the shower, his expression restored to his usual bright and cheerful state. He hugged her and went back to the room to sleep. She turned over and climbed on top of him, holding his face and observing him carefully. Lin Zhengze let her look.
That's it, Wenhua knew. If something happened at home, she wouldn't react like this. It was just work and she was simply annoyed. But now, with this expression, he looked at her strangely, as if he was looking at a pet, no, a stray cat, with sadness in his love.
Is it because of childbirth? She felt a little uncomfortable after taking the medicine that day, and Lin Zhengze didn't touch her for the past few days.
Wen Hua lowered her head and thought for a long time, and still felt that she should explain. She didn't want to look him in the eye, so she lay down and buried her head in his chest. To coax someone, she had to say something soft, so she said, "Husband~".
"Yeah," Lin Zhengze responded and seemed to smile. Wen Hua was able to speak out now and felt that she had found a way.
"It's not that I don't want to have a baby for you, it's just that I'm not ready yet, I myself am not ready yet."
What a silly girl, Lin Zhengze thought, it hurt him to the core of his heart.
"Fool," Lin Zhengze, who is good at guiding others, was suddenly at a loss for words.
His girl lost her best friend before she met him. Since family and friendship are fleeting, how could she still have expectations of everlasting love? Lin Zhengze only regretted that he had met her a dozen years earlier, so that he could tell her earlier with his actions that he was here and would not leave.
The inherent concept of guilt placed on her by her blood relatives has long been deeply rooted in her. No wonder Wen Hua said during the first consultation that it was not her original family that was to blame. Who has a choice?
Her silly girl had long given up speaking for herself, but fortunately, he was here now. He would give her a home, and he could now use his actions to tell her that he was here and would not leave.
Lin Zhengze's bad mood lasted for a whole night, but when he woke up the next day, he was a gentle and handsome boy again.
The older boy said that he would be very busy recently, so he needed Wenhua's help with the chores at home. He explained all the matters including water, electricity, property management, housekeeping, cleaning, and even paying off credit cards in a serious manner. Wenhua listened for a long time and studied it for a while.
"Well, these are all linked to your card. Just pay the due fees. There's nothing else I need to do, right?" Wen Hua said.
Lin Zhengze was stunned for a moment and said that there was a meeting for the community owners at the weekend and you should go and attend.
This meeting was quite impressive. First, takeout and express delivery were not allowed into the community, and second, large dogs were not allowed into the community. Wen Hua did not agree to any of the requirements and formed a united front with the young owners present. She debated with a group of aunts and uncles and parents every day, and got to know a lot of neighbors after a week.
It would be lively if you knew your neighbors. You could visit them whenever you wanted, the naughty kids would come to play with you, and you could take a walk and chat about gossip. Wen Hua felt that if she bought a rose-red fan and held it in her hand, she could immediately join the Red Yangge Square Dance Troupe.
That's fine, Lin Zhengze said he was really busy, going out early and coming back late, and staying in the study at home on weekends. Occasionally he would come out and hug her for a while before going back to work.
Assistant Zhou calls every few days. The boss needs a suit for an event, his car needs insurance renewal, he needs to choose an accident insurance policy, he wants to arrange a trip for his parents, he needs help finding a gift for his aunt's birthday next month, and he needs to celebrate his eldest brother's company going public...
"Did you do all these things before?" Wen Hua finally couldn't help but question when Assistant Zhou called and said that the boss's cousin was in trouble and you should deal with it quickly.
"Of course I handle shopping and running errands, but it's definitely not my turn to do household chores."
"Then why is it my turn?" Wen Hua asked.
"The boss said he is busy and has something to tell you at home."
"Okay then."
