80. Why?

80. Why?

Wenhua couldn't remember how many years it had been since her family had such a lively Spring Festival.

Wen's mother actually cleaned out a bedroom for them. Wen He went back to her home and stayed there for a few days. This scene made her mistakenly think that she had brought home a future crown prince.

The wedding was in May, and the Wen family had already selected the relatives who would attend. They were talking about how both sides of the family needed to be represented. My uncle, whom I hadn't seen in years, even came to the house several times to plead for a spot. Wen Hua felt like she was already middle-aged, but there was still a galaxy between her and the adults of this generation. Age clearly couldn't separate children from adults. My uncle, who had never been an uncle before, desperately wanted to be one on the wedding day. It was interesting.

It was so exciting that the old girl was getting married that Wen Ma excitedly talked about the wedding several times every day.

But to be honest, the wedding will not be held at the Wen family's house, and the car, house, furniture and appliances do not need to be bought by the wife's family. The final plan to invite close friends to the Wen family's house for a banquet will be a few months later, so what is there to be busy about now?

The only thing I can do is tell others that my second daughter is getting married.

When Wen Hua was shopping with her mother at the supermarket, she met an uncle. When her mother told her that her child was getting married, the man was surprised: "Didn't Wen He have a second child?"

Sorry, I really laughed out loud when I heard the flowers in the middle of a busy supermarket.

She suddenly remembered that when she was in middle school, she ranked first in her grade in the final exam. That was the first time she saw the pride on her parents' faces. Her mother even took her out for a run and breakfast every day just to meet more acquaintances and show off her grades.

It was also such an uncle who looked at the little girl next to Wen Ma and asked who she was. Wen Ma embarrassedly said that she was a relative's child. Then he gently touched her head with his hand and pinched her shoulders.

She didn't laugh at that time. She remembered that when Wen Ma took her to have breakfast, she almost stuck the chopsticks into her nostrils. She was so excited because she was a relative's child and because of the pair of hands that touched her head.

Lin Zhengze had to go to work, and Wen Hua followed him back, feeling relieved.

Before leaving, grandpa was very reluctant to let her go and said that since she didn't have to work, it would be better for her to live at home. Aunt tried to persuade him, saying that there was no reason to separate the young couple.

"Can we bring grandpa over to live with us after we return home?" Lin Zhengze told her after getting on the plane that he was about to leave for the United States for a month and would take Wenhua with him.

Okay? Of course it was okay. He was the only one who understood Wen Hua's dilemma. Her annoyance was real, but her guilt and self-blame were even more profound.

She booked a plane ticket for her grandfather for the next day after returning home, but ultimately didn't use it.

Grandpa passed away a week after they returned. He passed away in his sleep, very peacefully.

The funeral procession was calculated by a fortune teller. One option was three days, and the other was seven days. Wen's father chose three days, fearing that the weather would be too hot to stay too long. Wen Hua didn't care about these things at all. Since the person was gone, nothing else mattered.

The scale of the funeral was meaningless, the mourners were meaningless, and tears were even more meaningless, especially since there were very few tears at this funeral.

People attending funerals like to ask about the details of the family member's death, and then when they hear the word "died in a dream", they show a prepared expression of relief and say that it is best not to suffer, and that at this age it is considered a happy funeral.

Wen Hua was guarding the mourning hall and burning incense. When Lin Zhengze asked her to eat, she would eat, and when Lin Zhengze asked her to sleep, she would sleep. Someone who was keeping vigil said, "She is worthy of being the granddaughter who was brought up by her since she was a child. She is so filial. She guards the incense day and night without stopping."

Wen Hua remembers her grandmother's funeral. Although she was still young at that time, she remembers that her parents' grief could not be concealed. She also remembers that her father only shed tears on the day of the funeral. After handling the funeral, he returned home and fell ill. He was ill for a whole week.

Wen Hua was waiting, waiting for her father to fall ill again, waiting for her mother to be unable to eat.

But she didn't wait. Instead, she found a home where there was no sadness at all. Wen He was even relieved to see the reinforcements because she had been taking care of the child alone for several days. Wen's mother held the child and began to ask about the details of the wedding and the accommodation arrangements for the relatives.

"Let's talk about it when the time comes, there's no rush," Wen Hua replied.

"Don't worry about it anymore. What does other people's wedding have to do with you?" Wen He said this, her tone as angry as ever.

Wen Hua smiled, the first time in many days. Her eyes swept across the faces of her family and she asked, "Aren't you sad at all that my grandfather passed away?"

There was silence, and then someone broke the silence by saying, "When I was little, he couldn't even afford to buy me a piece of candy. What has grandpa done for me since I was a child?"

Someone said, "To be honest, your grandfather caused us so much trouble in his life. He is really not a likable elder."

Others say, "You don't understand the grudges of the previous generation. You are still young now, but you will understand when you get married."

"What about me?" Wen Hua asked.

No one understood what she meant. Wen Hua straightened her back and asked loudly, "What about me? Raising your child for over a decade is not considered a credit? Tell me, what evil things did he do? I cleaned up your mess for fifteen years and you still can't compensate me? Oh, or is it that my existence really doesn't mean anything to you?"

It was the first time that Wen Hua saw such a wonderful change in facial expression. It was so wonderful that she wanted to stand up and applaud. She was too familiar with the following process. Before Wen's mother reacted and burst into tears, and before Wen's father and Wen He pointed at her and said, "If you have grievances, come to us. Your mother has depression, how can you do this," she ran out of the door.

Who the hell said the weather was getting hot? The night wind was still as sharp as a knife on the faces of those running.

Wen Hua ran so fast that Lin Zhengze could not catch up at all. She was crying, she was crying loudly for the most pitiful old man in the world. She finally understood that the hardships he had suffered over the years were not to put pressure on her. He was just too lonely, too lonely after being abandoned by his children. He held the little achievements in his hands that others looked down upon and shouted again and again, I am a good person, I don’t deserve to be treated so coldly.

Unfortunately, no one listened, and the person who spoke had left. Wen Hua had never felt so heartbroken. It turned out that both she and the person who raised her were pitiful and abandoned objects. One could not get gratitude, and the other had given up fighting for it long ago.

Why are they always the ones who suffer? Wen Hua thought, this shouldn’t be the case. This isn’t the way the world works.

The first children's book she wanted to write was about facing harm and responding with double the harm.
