Chapter 16 Part 1

Chapter 16 Part 1

Wen Yao's tone and actions are really irritating.

Below the ring, a Liao man happened to meet her gaze from a distance, and a surge of anger suddenly surged within him. His eyes widened, and with a roar, he launched himself onto the ring, gathering his inner strength into the blade of his sword and slashing fiercely at Wen Yao. Wen Yao took a step back, raising her leg to kick the man beneath her. The Liao man gritted his teeth, sheathed his sword, and dodged his companion, letting him tumble to the ground.

Wen Yao raised his hand and reached back. When it touched the Xingyi Sword, he paused slightly, then smoothly retracted his hand into a blade and flew towards the Liao people.

Everyone gasped at her action. In the pavilion, Prince Yong stood up and walked forward, "These Liao people are all experts. She must be carrying a sword, right? Why isn't she using it?"

Zhongli He looked at the arena with a burning gaze: "Of course, because I can win without a sword."

Guang Qingyu's eyes were originally on the woman in black clothes. When she heard this, she was moved. She put down her teacup and stood up: "You seem to know her."

"It was she who stopped the King of Qin from taking Su Fangying's daughter away from Qiong Yu Tower a few days ago." Zhong Li He said, "She is very strong. I am no match for her."

"Yes. It's rare to find someone who can convince you, Linghan, to say such things." Prince Yong sighed, rubbing the jade ring on his finger: "It seems that there are hidden dragons and crouching tigers around my third brother."

There were also whispers in the Qinwang Pavilion.

The Baili family knight stared at the stage, growing increasingly apprehensive. He also felt strangely familiar with the guard's internal energy, as if he had seen it somewhere before. Judging by the moves, the cloth wrapped tightly around the man's back must be a sword; he must be a formidable swordsman...

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the King of Qin.

King Qin: "She was the one who was with Zhao Xuanxu on the day Wu Chongguang died."

The Baili family knight hesitated for a moment: "Do you suspect that the death of the Xixi swordsman is related to the King of Yan? But his death is a common method used by the Red Pavilion, and the martial arts world has already determined that it was the Red Pavilion's doing. The Red Pavilion has remained silent, so I think they admit it."

"How could there be such a coincidence?" The King of Qin bent his legs, his handsome face sullen, the teacup in his hand already cracked. "Zhao Xuanxu actually dared to ask Gao Shaoshan to search my Qin Palace. Could he not be so bold as to murder my staff?!"

In just a few words, Wen Yao on the ring had already approached the Liao people.

The broadsword came crashing down with immense force. Wen Yao raised her hand, channeling her inner energy, and the broadsword seemingly cut through a wall of iron, barely an inch away. Then, with a twist of her wrist, the Liao warrior's eyes widened as he tried to block, but he was still a step too slow and was grabbed by the neck and lifted into the air.

A muscular man was lifted up with one hand by a tall and thin woman, and cheers immediately broke out from the audience.

Wen Yao then let go, bent down, raised his leg and kicked the man hard in the stomach, knocking him off the stage with a "bang", causing him to follow in the footsteps of his companions.

Three moves, just three moves.

Wen Yao's breathing remained steady. He turned to the audience, raised five fingers, and then snapped two. The remaining three Liao warriors gritted their teeth, their muscles twitching. They glanced at each other and, disregarding the rules, flew onto the stage and attacked Wen Yao.

Someone immediately slammed the table and stood up, shouting "How dare you!" Seeing this, the guards of Baili Mansion grabbed their weapons and were about to rush onto the stage, but were stopped by Baili Cheng with a look.

To Wen Yao, it makes little difference whether they come one by one or three together.

Before she even took action, she even took the time to glance in Zhao Xuanxu's direction. She saw that he had drawn the bamboo curtain at some point and was standing there, staring at her motionlessly. There was no smile on his face, and his brows were furrowed, revealing a look of worry.

No, I'm trying to save your face. Why aren't you happy, little brother?

Now Wen Yao's mood of wasting time disappeared instantly.

She blocked the blade with the back of her hand and advanced, her movements incredibly swift. Her hand approached the man's neck and twisted it gently. Internal energy erupted, blood gushed out, and the Liao man immediately fell to his knees on the ring, clutching his neck.

The whole room cheered again. The Baili family knight beside the King of Qin frowned even more deeply, unable to suppress the strange feeling that was rising in his heart, yet he was at a loss for what to do.

How strange, really strange, who is this woman?

After dispatching one, Wen Yao clamped her fingers against the incoming blade, snapping the finely forged blade into several fragments. Holding a fragment in one hand, she sidestepped and pressed it against the necks of the last two, showing no mercy. The scorching heat of her internal energy sent chills down the Liao soldiers' spines, forcing them to believe they were doomed. Unexpectedly, after their throats were breached, the pain reached their knees—Wen Yao raised her leg and shattered their kneecaps with two powerful kicks. The intense pain contorted their faces, forcing them to kneel facing the pavilion.

"You have come from far away and do not understand the etiquette of Tianshui." Wen Yao said, "If you do something wrong, you should kneel down and apologize."

"Great! The chivalrous lady is so impressive!" The crowd in the audience was completely excited, swarming towards the stage. Wen Yao looked up at Zhao Xuanxu again, his smile faded, and he grabbed the two men by the collars and threw them down, then flew back to the pavilion.

Gao Shaoshan immediately lowered the bamboo curtain to block out the prying eyes from all sides.

Zhao Xuanxu walked up to Wen Yao, bent down slightly, and looked at Wen Yao's hand carefully.

No wounds.

The murderous intent surging within him didn't subside, but instead intensified, stirring up immense waves. With the Northern Liao dynasty's successor regime and the reshuffling of various institutions, these new spies in Bianliang were even more reckless than before. He had originally intended to just let them cause trouble for the factory supervisor, but unexpectedly, these crawling insects, by some strange coincidence, would turn their swords against Wen Yao.

"Ayao is amazing." Zhao Xuanxu's expression remained calm as he whispered, "But fighting with bare hands is risky after all. Why not use the Xingyi Sword?"

Wen Yao touched the Xingyi sword on his back, which was wrapped tightly with cloth so that even the hilt was not exposed.

Wu Chongguang was dealt with by Lou Chengyi, and her identity wasn't revealed, but it did serve as a wake-up call for her. Bianliang was indeed a chaotic place with many different factions and spies. She had earned her fame with the Xingyi Sword after acquiring it from Mobei. She wasn't bragging; both she and her sword were renowned.

"Although there aren't any familiar faces sitting under the ring today, most of them are from the underworld. I'm afraid someone will recognize me." Wen Yao touched his nose and said, "I used to have a dagger with me, which I usually use to kill ducks and fish, but I didn't bring it with me today."

Gao Shaoshan was filled with admiration: "Commander Wen is truly a martial arts master."

"Of course." Zhao Xuanxu remained noncommittal. "In terms of talent and strength, Ayao is undoubtedly the best in the world."

"Oh, I don't deserve it. I was only fifth in the world before, and there were many people ahead of me." Wen Yao said modestly: "Every generation has its own talents. Maybe I can't keep up with the pace of the martial arts world now."

Gao Shaoshan hesitated: "Are the ones in front of Commander Wen the Old Man of Qianshan, the Swordsman Fenghai, the Master Mingshan of the North Temple, and the Black Poison Granny of the West?"

Wen Yao nodded.

"Old Man Qianshan and the Black Poison of the West passed away a year ago. Feng Hai, unable to break through to the highest realm, sacrificed his life for his faith and passed away three months ago," Zhao Xuanxu said. "As for Master Mingshan, he passed away more recently, last month. The current number one on the Bai Xiaosheng Ranking is the owner of the overseas Liuli Island, who was originally ranked after you, Ayao."

So apart from some legendary hidden masters who have never appeared in the world, Wen Yao is very likely to be the best in the world.

Wen Yao was stunned.

The Jianghu was turbulent and changing so rapidly. It just so happened that she had spent the past two years feeding camels in the deserted city of Liuye, far from the court, and was eager to continue traveling west with the bearded man to see the Rome of this world. She had never heard of any of these things.

"Third brother," a voice called out, interrupting the conversation between the three. Wen Yao glanced over and saw several figures stopped outside the curtain. He took two steps back, putting some distance between him and Zhao Xuanxu, which had unknowingly become too close.

Gao Shaoshan stepped forward and opened the curtain.

Standing outside was Prince Yong, his smile as bright as the wind and moon. Behind him were a man and a woman. The woman wore a veil and a dark dress, revealing a pair of eyes that were distinctly black and white, a pair of penetrating eyes. Wen Yao had seen the man before; he was Zhongli He, the one she had fought with in Qiongyu Tower.

Wen Yao looked at Zhongli He's face and looked away, but he was subconsciously a little confused.

Her face didn't look good, and her breathing sounded a bit disordered. She must have been injured. But she didn't use much force last time, so this couldn't be her fault. Could these people be coming here seeking revenge?

Prince Yong, Zhao Xuanfeng, was the empress's eldest legitimate son. He possessed both talent and virtue, and was gentle and courteous, unlike the talented but arrogant Prince Qin. His tone of addressing Zhao Xuanxu as "Third Brother" sounded quite intimate, unlike the sarcasm of the Prince Qin.

"Third brother, the person next to you is really skilled." Prince Yong smiled and seemed a little curious about Wen Yao: "Is she your bodyguard?"

Compared to Prince Yong's cordial tone, Zhao Xuanxu was somewhat indifferent: "He was originally on duty at Jiutai. I admire him very much and transferred him to work by my side."

"I see. Great! My Tianguo is truly full of talented people." Prince Yong pointed at Zhongli He and said, "There aren't many people he can linger on."

The words "never forget" and the intense, undeniable, burning gaze Zhongli He directed at Wen Yao were like holding fire to Zhao Xuanxu's heart and then pouring vinegar on it, leaving him feeling sour and wrinkled. He lowered his eyes, frowning, and his fingers, tucked under his wide sleeves, suddenly touched the edge of his sleeves. This was unfortunate, as Gao Shaoshan, who was standing nearby, saw it and suddenly felt a shudder of fear.

His master would only do this action before twisting someone's head.

Gao Shaoshan shuddered. He absolutely did not want anyone from the General's Mansion to die at Zhao Xuanxu's hands. He immediately rushed forward with a teapot in hand and said stiffly, "Um, would His Royal Highness Prince Yong like some tea?"

"Thank you, General Gao." Prince Yong was surprised at first, then shook his head: "I am not thirsty."

"You are so skilled in martial arts, why are you only a mere guard?" Zhongli He suddenly spoke up. "Since you originally belonged to Jiutai, you are still a public official and belong to His Majesty. If you wish, I will ask His Majesty to transfer you to the army. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you, as a woman, could achieve great military exploits and be remembered for eternity?"

There are actually brave men in this world who would poach people in front of Zhao Xuanxu.

Gao Shaoshan closed his eyes and thought to himself that if you, Zhongli He, were found dead outside tonight, it would not be unfair at all.
