Demon Cult Leader x Current Emperor. This is a suspenseful episodic novel, half set in the Jianghu (martial arts world) and half in the imperial court.

Everyone knows that the current emperor is a puppet of the Jiang family, deeply engrossed in martial arts and having no interest in governing. Xiao Congzhi was indeed as the common folk thought; for a mere Jianghu rumor, he abandoned his civil and military officials and ventured into the remote Qilin Village deep in the mountains.

According to Jianghu rumors, Qilin blood can revive the dead and regrow flesh, and it is hidden in Qilin Village. Qilin Village has been unvisited for a hundred years, and no one in the Jianghu knows its location. Logically, Xiao Congzhi should not have encountered any outsiders there.

But Xiao Congzhi did encounter someone. The Demon Cult wreaked havoc three hundred years ago and was forced by the righteous factions to retreat beyond the Great Wall. The current cult leader, Xie Mowen, planned to return to the central plains' martial arts world and first went to Qilin Village to investigate the cult's secrets.

The two met unexpectedly. Since both could breathe, they started fighting at the drop of a hat. After hundreds of moves, they were evenly matched. Xie Mowen and Xiao Congzhi had no choice but to suppress their desire to eliminate each other and put on fake smiles, cheerfully agreeing to travel together.

They had only walked a few steps when they were attacked by strange villagers. The villagers were incredibly strong and seemingly impervious to death, and the next day they rose from the dead again.

However, this was just the beginning. Afterward, they jointly experienced the mysterious dark building that appeared in the middle of the night, bizarre serial disappearances, strange lanterns, inexplicably vanished luminous pearls, and lethal bells ringing in the dead of night.

It was then that Xie Mowen realized Xiao Congzhi was not truly a gentle nobleman with a ready smile. Only then did Xiao Congzhi understand that Xie Mowen was genuinely unconventional and lacked proper decorum.

But what could be done? Xie Mowen said, "Call me husband, let me hear it?" Xiao Congzhi: "..."

In short, amidst the turmoil of the Jianghu and the shifts in the imperial court, they unraveled the truth behind one strange case after another, slowly moving closer to each other and their ultimate destination.

This is an old-fashioned tale of Jianghu and court; the plot is not overly complex, the romance is mutual, and the power struggles are very weak. The focus is still on the strange cases.
