Chapter 123 Extra 1·02

Chapter 123 Extra 1·02

When the system countdown ended, Ji Wang suddenly felt dizzy, and then a sudden force knocked him heavily to the ground.

This feeling was very strange. He knew clearly that he was lying flat on the ground at this moment, with mud and wildly growing mutant weeds around his fingers, but he could clearly feel the pain at the back of his head, as if he had just fallen from a height.

"Dear host, hello. You have arrived on an asteroid in the A-376 Nebula. You are located outside of Cato City, the largest human settlement on this planet," the Doomsday Survival System read out emotionlessly. "Your ultimate goal is to capture Shi Ting, the Lord of Cato City. Your interim goal is to enter Cato City."

"Your status is: Falling from a height." The Doomsday Survival System paused, then said without emotion, "Unexpected situation, Oops."

Ji Wang: ...

Oh, you big-headed ghost!

Ji Wang struggled to get up from the ground, rubbed the back of his head which was hurt from the fall, and sighed deeply.

He thought that the decline from a high position was just his illusion.

"Excuse me, do you humans use words like these to express regret?" Seeing that he did not respond for a long time, the Doomsday Survival System asked again.

Ji Wang rolled his eyes in his heart and replied casually, "No."

"What is that?" The Doomsday Survival System humbly asked for advice.

"provoke."

"?"

"We humans all express regret this way," Ji Wang, whose biggest hobby in his fast-travel career was teasing the AI system, began to talk nonsense in a serious tone. "For example, if you were unlucky enough to meet me, and a series of things happened that made you want to restart your life, no, restart your entire life, then we can say 'I'm sorry'..."

Before he could finish his words, Ji Wang suddenly felt a gust of wind coming from behind. Before he could dodge, his collar was hooked by something unknown, and then his whole body was hung in the air.

He turned around suddenly, and what came into view was a huge furry paw. Behind the paw were a pair of curious brown eyes, looking at him without blinking.

It's a cat!

Ji Wang was completely dumbfounded. He had lived for more than 20 years and had never seen such a big tabby cat. The cat also seemed to have never seen a human like him. It carefully stretched out its sharp claws like blades, grabbed him in mid-air, and stared at him with wide eyes.

The cat seemed to be very interested in Ji Wang and pulled him closer to its face.

Ji Wang was so frightened that he broke out in a cold sweat and yelled at the system in his mind: "What should I do now!"

The Doomsday Survival System was silent for a moment, then tentatively drew inferences: "Provoke?"

The cat also joined in the fun at this time and stretched its head forward: "Meow?"

"Who asked you that?" Ji Wang smelled the fishy smell coming out of the giant cat's mouth, and was so scared that he grabbed a nearby branch and blocked it between himself and the cat in vain, trying to separate the curious cat's head that could swallow several of him in one gulp. He was afraid that the cat would eat him if it got unhappy. "If you really feel sorry, just get me down, okay!"

"I'm your system, not your babysitter," the Doomsday Survival System complained. "A qualified host, when faced with danger, should..."

"Is this the first day you know I failed?" Ji Wang roared.

“…That’s true.”

The cat's head moved closer and closer, its claws raised higher and higher, and suddenly it opened its mouth and bit down.

Amid Ji Wang's screams, nothing happened. The cat bit his collar and held him face down in its mouth.

Ji Wang's shouting stopped abruptly, and he just hung in the cat's mouth, dangling like a bell tongue.

"It seems to think you're its cub," the Doomsday Survival System said calmly, "Cats usually move their cubs by biting them by the scruff of the neck."

Before Ji Wang could protest, the tabby cat kicked hard with its hind legs and started running away.

He quickly grabbed the cat's chin. The cat shook its head in dissatisfaction, but fortunately it did not throw him off. Instead, it ran all the way to Cato City.

Ji Wang then realized that although this cat had the fur color of a rural cat, it seemed to be domesticated, and was very smart and obedient. At least it could distinguish between humans and other animals. Otherwise, based on the hunting nature of cats, it would have been dead with just one bite.

A huge, sleek cat ran lightly among the ruins. A giant grasshopper wearing emerald green armor was startled and flew up from the one-meter-deep grass. Not far away, zombies were wandering around in groups of three or two, roaring. Several people carrying primitive bows and arrows or interstellar weapons were running around, encircling them and trying to obtain energy.

This kind of scene, which could only appear in games and movies in the past, was now displayed so realistically in front of Ji Wang. He even forgot to be afraid. He buried his body in the thick cat fur and stuck his head out to watch everything happening not far away.

"Your target, Shi Ting, isn't part of the capture team," the Doomsday Survival System kindly explained, assuming he was diligently looking around for the mission. "Shi Ting is incredibly powerful, and he wouldn't get involved in unskilled tasks like this. Most of the time, he'll stay in Cato City, overseeing all matters. He'll only personally go out to fight higher-level zombies when they appear."

Ji Wang wasn't particularly interested in his legendary future husband, so he simply nodded perfunctorily: "I understand the logic, I just want to know why this cat is so big?"

"Actually, cats this big aren't common," the Doomsday Survival System explained to him. "The combined effects of the zombie virus and radiation not only screen humans, but also animals. Many animals grow enormously after exposure, but their telomeres are subsequently found to be severely shortened, and their lifespans drop from over a decade to a few months or even a few dozen days. However, some animals also achieve longer lifespans while growing larger, and relevant researchers are also studying this."

In the blink of an eye, the tabby cat ran to the city gate of Kato City. The soldiers guarding the gate didn't even look at it and let it pass.

Seeing that the soldier looked calm, Ji Wang felt relieved and touched the thick cat fur calmly.

The city is a gathering place for humans. A cat this big must have great destructive power. If this cat hurts people, the soldiers will definitely not let it enter the city easily. Presumably, this is a cat that understands human nature and theoretically will not cause any harm to him.

Just as he expected, the tabby cat looked straight ahead, holding Ji Wang in its mouth, and ran all the way to the altar in the center of Cato City.

Kato City is a city with an overall structure that is somewhat steampunk, but it does not completely match Ji Wang's stereotype of the steampunk era. Specifically, multiple energy sources and weapons coexist, and backwardness and advancement coexist. Although it is clearly an interstellar age, the center of the city still retains an altar that only ancient humans used. There are also many people who believe in traditional astrology and prophecy. It is said that someone once made a very successful prediction, making this era where every star is in the hands of humans even more mysterious.

There was a pool of clear water in the center of the altar. Ji Wang watched in fear as the cat's mouth approached the water surface little by little. Finally, the cat bent down and gently placed him in the pool.

"Amanda!" Ji Wang heard someone's voice coming from afar. The tabby cat heard it, stopped licking its fur, looked up, and seemed to understand that someone was calling its name.

A wheat-skinned boy ran over from a distance and hugged the huge cat enthusiastically and forcefully. The cat licked him in disgust. The boy lost his balance for a moment, fell down, and fell into the pool laughing.

Ji Wang was caught off guard and had water splashed all over his head and face. He struggled awkwardly out of the waist-deep water, his dripping hair rustling as he reached out to the fallen boy, trying to pull him up.

"Thank you!" The boy smiled brightly, but when he wiped the water droplets from his eyes and looked again, he was suddenly stunned.

Ji Wang looked at him in confusion.

The boy was stunned for five seconds, then he shuddered all over and crawled out of the pool. He ran to the central open space above the altar and slapped the blue rune on the huge stone with force.

In an instant, clusters of blue flames lit up from the torch stand nearby, like traditional beacon towers, burning all the way to the distance in a winding manner.

"This is a special method of transmitting messages within Kato City," the Doomsday Survival System explained. "Since the Lord of Kato City is Shi Ting, who is of Chinese descent, he deliberately employed this mechanism, similar to the beacon towers of ancient times."

However, the efficiency in the interstellar age is still different from that in ancient times. Before Ji Wang could react, he was surrounded by a group of people armed with weapons.

"According to reliable information, Shi Ting likes strong people and dislikes weak people who surrender easily, so you..."

Before the Doomsday Survival System finished speaking, Ji Wang decisively raised his hands above his head and curled up into a ball in a "spare my life" gesture.

Doomsday Survival System: ...

As expected of you, useless host.

Obviously, the gesture of raising both hands means "I don't have any weapons in my hands" in any era. The people surrounding Ji Wang relaxed a little, but still gathered together, looking vigilantly at Ji Wang who was surrounded in the middle of the pool.

Ji Wang was not a fool. He could read the strong vigilance and unwelcome in these people's eyes, but he didn't know why and could only shrink himself a little smaller.

"Where are you from?" Finally, a woman who looked like the team leader spoke. The tip of the spear in her hand was shining coldly, still pointing directly at Ji Wang's chest.

"What should I say!" Ji Wang frantically turned to the Doomsday Survival System for help in his mind, "Mom, where do I come from?"

But it is obvious that the Doomsday Survival System is very principled and insists on the professional ethics that the system cannot completely replace the host to complete the task, without saying a word.

"Speak! Are you mute?" The man next to him angrily hit his shoulder with the butt of his gun.

Ji Wang had a flash of inspiration.

That's right! Why can't he be mute?

So Ji Wang opened his mouth and acted like a real person: "Aba Aba Aba? Aba Aba! Aba Aba..."

The man opposite immediately widened his eyes.

Ji Wangsheng was afraid that he wouldn't believe him, so he pretended to be dumb and gestured at the same time. He heard a clear and loud "Cao!" in his mind, and suddenly felt very embarrassed, but he had no choice but to continue acting.

Unexpectedly, this trick really worked. The people surrounding him all looked at each other, and no one knew how to communicate with a little mute.

Now everyone was at a loss and could only report to Shi Ting at the top level.

When Shi Ting walked to the altar, he saw this scene.

The man in the linen shirt was half leaning against the altar pool, squinting his eyes, his slightly long hair floating on the water. Due to the low water temperature, the skin on the side of his neck was so white that the purple veins could be seen, like a quiet water lily. He was surrounded by swords, spears, and halberds, but he managed to reveal half of his very handsome face from the swords and shadows.

Shi Ting's heart suddenly moved slightly.

The author has something to say: Some little angels may not quite understand what the historical background of this is. In terms of time, this is an interstellar era many years after modern human society; but on this planet, the overall style is slightly steampunk, that is, on one hand, there is very advanced technology, and on the other hand, due to insufficient resources, many people are using primitive means; on one hand, there is highly developed science, and on the other hand, there is metaphysics that many people believe in and is very accurate; and against the backdrop of this era, a doomsday disaster occurred.

I really like writing this kind of story with a grand background and a lot of personal settings, but I don’t think I can control the whole story, so I can only write a sequel for fun...

I've been working on my teeth lately. I have a weird wisdom tooth that needs to be extracted, and it seems quite complicated... I'll update slowly, and try to finish this extra chapter as soon as possible (likely referring to a post). Also, do you all want me to continue posting 3,000 words per chapter, or finish each extra chapter and post them all at once? (For example, change from 3,000 words per day to 9,000 words every three days, and finish each extra chapter at once)

Thank you to the little angels who voted for me or irrigated nutrient solution during 2020-04-01222020-04-0700
