Stay with me
The player Memory Master stood up from a corner of the conference room, holding a potted plant.
There were ten deeply sunken nail marks on the edges of her face, a distinct smell of blood in her mouth, and some unswallowed paper in her throat.
The Memory Master is not a printer, she is herself, a human being whose cognition has been polluted by the printer.
The moment she stood up, the woman seemed to realize something and ran away in panic, but was tripped by a stack of A4 papers under her feet.
The amnesiac helped the woman up while bending down to pick up the paper. She was sure that what she had just seen was her experience after entering the ghost story, which was recorded in the style of a novel and printed on an A4 paper.
She had just picked up a piece of paper, and before she had time to take a look at it, the woman suddenly bit the paper in her hand and swallowed it into her stomach.
The cognitive pollution was transferred, the illusionist broke free of the pollution, and the pollution began to invade the woman.
Then, the woman squatted beside the potted plant, put her hands into her mouth, forced her mouth to tear into a horrible arc, and swallowed all the paper in front of her in one gulp.
A muffled voice came from the woman's bloody mouth: "I am... a printer."
The illusionist took a step back and saw that the woman's belly was raised by the sharp A4 paper.
The woman grabbed her face with her hands, and with a "ripping" sound, her face was completely torn off.
The Memory Master retched silently.
The face fell at her feet, with words printed on it:
Chapter 1. Dada, Dada
The player, Memory Master, wakes up in a cozy home...】
Perhaps because they were making too much noise, a person with a badge that said "supervisor" broke into the meeting room. She praised the illusionist with surprise:
"Kang Kang, you are amazing! You worked hard on your first day at work and achieved the performance of a team!"
The supervisor slapped the memory master's shoulder excitedly, causing the memory master to gag several times.
"I haven't seen such beautiful prints in many, many years!"
The supervisor completely ignored the dead woman next to the potted plant. She picked up the face skin covered with words on the ground and stuffed it into the memory master's hand.
"I've decided to turn tomorrow's morning meeting into a commendation meeting that all employees must attend. I want to commend you! Let those old-timers who only know how to lie down every day see that we still have young employees like Kang Kang!"
The memory master didn't want to touch the face, so the supervisor stuffed the face into the memory master's suit pocket and said kindly: "I see you haven't said anything, are you feeling unwell? I'll take you home!"
Being sent home by the supervisor was more terrible than being left in the conference room as a printer. The illusionist quickly waved his hands, forced a weak smile, and shamelessly slipped out of the company.
She didn't want to stay in the printing factory for even a second.
On her way out of the company, she came across a water dispenser and an electric fan.
As if seeing a ghost, she carefully avoided them, fearing that these machines, like printers, could pollute people's cognition.
The Memory Master walked on the deserted street, mustered up the courage to show his face, and read the words above while suppressing his nausea.
The first chapter records her experience from waking up to going out, even her psychological activities are written clearly.
It seemed as if the recorder not only installed a camera on her, but also put a roundworm in her stomach.
The illusionist held her face far away and looked around as she walked. A loud crash on the street attracted her attention.
It was a car accident.
A middle-aged woman carrying a basket of vegetables was in a hurry to cross the road. She rushed out against the red light and was hit in half by a pickup truck that didn't have time to brake.
The illusionist stood across the street and watched silently for a while. She raised her foot to leave, but suddenly stopped.
Through the broken glass of the pickup truck, she saw an acquaintance, an old lady wearing a floral cotton coat.
The old lady still looked hardworking, simple and honest. She mingled in the crowd and kept pushing forward.
Finally, she squeezed to the scene of the accident and carried away half of the victim's body from the pool of fresh blood and yellow-white brain matter.
The next second, the old lady and the illusionist looked at each other.
The Memory Master smiled awkwardly but politely.
She turned and walked towards home, but found an old lady in a floral cotton coat walking the same way as her.
This is not surprising. The old lady and she are neighbors, and they both have to go home, so it is natural for them to walk together.
The old lady dragged herself halfway and said hello to the illusionist: "Kang Kang, have you eaten yet? Come to grandma's house. Grandma will stew pork ribs for you!"
The Memory Master shook his head firmly.
She didn't want to know whether the half of the human body was used to stew ribs or to build a shack. She just wanted to go home.
After finally reaching the door of his home, the illusionist stopped in his tracks.
In the dark corridor, the penguin wearing a beret on the vending machine opened his eyes.
To be fair, penguins are not ugly, and are even pleasing to the eye than Teddy Bear.
Its eyes were small and black, like two broad beans. The illusionist took a few tentative steps to the left, and the broad beans moved with her, and the poor penguin instantly became strabismic.
Whatever, just watch it if you like. The illusionist strode forward in despair, and a muffled sound came from the vending machine, and a bottle of drink slipped out of the penguin's mouth.
There is a mouth painted on the drink bottle.
Under the gaze of the penguin, the illusionist gritted her teeth and drank the drink, which was an ordinary apple-flavored carbonated drink. After drinking it, her language ability returned.
After a busy day, the Memory Master finally returned to his warm home, but he found something wrong with the half-burned bookshelf.
The book had been moved, the Memory Master felt the spine of the book and judged with certainty.
The passive books are: "Study Abroad Memories", "Next Stop Blue Sky", "Let's Learn to Cook", "Growing Up with Dogs", and "I Love My Home"
Connect the first word of each book: "Stay with me".
Who is accompanying He Kang? The memory master feels puzzled.
What made her even more uneasy was that she lost her sense of isolation and irritability from her environment.
When she just woke up from the strange talk, she always felt that she didn't belong here and she had no sense of belonging.
After a day's work, she experienced many inexplicable things, but had to abide by the rules and pretend to be accustomed to it. She found that she couldn't wait to go home, and the originally boring home became her only safe haven.
It was as if...she sincerely wanted to stay here forever.
The illusionist took out the woman's face and reread the contents. She had a terrifying guess: What if the words on the face were not a novel based on her experience, but a story that existed before she arrived?
Then she is just a character created by the author, and not only her life and death are controlled by the author, but also her thoughts.
She couldn't even control the thoughts in her mind, which were freely portrayed by the author's pen.
Before going to sleep, the illusionist placed her face next to her pillow. She stared at the words on the face, ready to find a way to verify her guess.
The next day, the Memory Master woke up in a warm home.
Trunk Teddy was walking at home. The Memory Master opened the door and found that the vending machine at the door was gone.
Walking down the stairs to the first floor, the illusionist saw an entire floor full of vending machines. Penguins wearing berets stood in a row along the corridor with their eyes closed and mouths open.
She went out and turned left, and saw the old lady in the floral cotton coat again.
The old lady was working diligently to build a shack with whole corpses. The blue-black corpses were stiffer than stones, so the old lady had to put the corpses together on the ground like playing a jigsaw puzzle, and then stand them upright against the bumpy wall.
The illusionist stood at a distance and watched for a while, and the old lady greeted her:
"Kang Kang, go to work and punch in"
When the Memory Master arrived at the company, she indeed saw a time clock at the door.
At this point, the memory master was completely certain that this was the fictional world created by He Kang and that she was a fictional character.
All the changes she saw today were related to the text she wrote yesterday when she was the printer.
She said there should be no vending machines outside her house, so He Kang immediately moved the vending machines to the first floor and filled the corridor with countless vending machines.
She said it was disgusting that the old lady used body parts to build a shack, so He Kang immediately asked the old lady to replace the building materials with whole bodies.
She said the company did not have an attendance system, and He Kang immediately produced an attendance machine for her.
From a certain perspective, He Kang sincerely wanted the Memory Master to stay in this world, and he tried his best to satisfy the Memory Master's wishes, but the final result was not satisfactory.
The illusionist touched the torso teddy on his sleeve and was pulled by his supervisor to attend the commendation meeting.
The supervisor stood on the stage and spoke with saliva flying:
"I brought everyone together today to congratulate Kang Kang for creating extraordinary achievements for our Upper Floor Printing Factory. I hope everyone will follow her example!"
“Here, I want to ask some people, what indicators have you achieved this month?”
The supervisor held her head high and glanced at the row of people standing with their hands hanging down with a malicious look. No one dared to look her in the eye.
"Hmph." The supervisor snorted coldly.
"Don't think you can survive in the printing factory with your little experience. I went to the production room yesterday to report to the factory manager. All of you who don't have performance will be eliminated!"
The word "eliminated" seemed to have triggered some key switch. The expressions of the people who were standing with their hands hanging woodenly changed drastically, and several middle-aged people even trembled.
The illusionist was standing next to the supervisor and saw it clearly. One of the men was so frightened that he peed his pants.
She was quite puzzled. Being eliminated was just losing a job. What were these people afraid of?
"Ahem." The supervisor cleared his throat, "The people whose names I read out were the ones with the lowest performance last month!"
The employees in the audience were in mourning.
"Boss, please give me another chance!"
"I have old people above me and young children below me..."
The illusionist was even more puzzled. The reaction of this group of people was as if they were sentenced to death by their supervisor. Could it be that "elimination" is not the same as dismissal?
The supervisor ignored the cries of the employees below the stage. She read out the list coldly and said indifferently: "Gather, come with me to the production room!"
The employees fell to their knees crying. Some of them were so weak that they could not even walk. They were picked up by the security guards nearby and thrown into the production line.
The Memory Master was curious about the production room and the so-called "elimination", so she quietly followed the crowd.
Led by the supervisor, everyone was stuffed into a crowded elevator.
There was dead silence in the elevator, and countless pairs of eyes were staring at the small display screen, which showed "1".
Clang.
The elevator shook heavily and the number on the screen jumped to "2".
Clank, clank, clank——
As the shaking became increasingly intense, the numbers on the screen jumped faster and faster, as if being pushed madly by an invisible hand.
When the number jumped to "6", the illusionist realized that something was wrong.
She counted the floors before following the woman into the printing factory. The office building had five floors in total, and there was no sixth floor at all.
There was a 7 after the number 6, and the light on the display began to flash.
8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16......159
The string of numbers was like a crazy firefly, running around in the small space. The elevator was also driven by a crazy force, speeding up, so fast that it was terrifying.
The illusionist watched it rise higher and higher, unable to do anything. She heard her own heartbeat merge with the loud bang of the elevator.
160,161,162,163,164,165,166......397
When the floor approached 400, the illusionist lost his hearing and the speed of the elevator was so fast that he felt weightless.
There was only a tinnitus in her ears like an electric current. Her heart seemed to be pulled out of her body. The world seemed to be turned upside down. No one knew where this iron cage would take them.
397,398,399,400,401,402,403......500
The illusionist didn't know how she survived the last hundred floors. Her soul remained at the company's clock-in counter, but her body was sent to the 500th floor by the elevator.
The buzzing in her ears continued as the illusionist stumbled to her feet and the elevator door slowly opened in front of her.
A ray of light came through the crack in the door, and the Memory Master was stunned.
