An hour later, Luo Shimiao parked the car near the vegetable market. They planned to sell the eggs and then go get the medicine. Carrying a large basket of eggs made it inconvenient to move around.
Luo Shimiao went to find out the current market price of free-range eggs, and then dragged Gu Nian to find a spot near the entrance of the vegetable market.
There are many aunties selling vegetables by the roadside. They don't have a wide variety of vegetables, but they grow them themselves and then bring them out to sell.
The two were exceptionally good-looking, especially Gu Nian, who was tall and slender, with an ethereal air and flawless features.
Luo Shimiao looked at Gu Nian, whose eyes were fixed on everyone from eighty-year-old seniors to three-year-old children. A plan formed in his mind.
She spun the bag around and hung it in front of her, then pushed the bewildered Gu Nian behind her forward and stuffed two eggs into his hand.
He gestured to Gu Nian to show him the eggs.
Gu Nian took a deep breath. He didn't know how to present it, so he placed the egg in his palm and stood there motionless like a life-size cardboard cutout.
Luo Shimiao put on a professional fake smile: "Beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen, come and take a look at my eggs. Whether you buy them or not is fine, just come and have a look."
"Authentic free-range eggs are rich in protein and have high nutritional value. Look at my brother, he's tall and handsome. That's the benefit of eating free-range eggs regularly. His skin is as smooth as a peeled egg. He's not wearing makeup, he's bare-faced. If you don't believe me, come and see for yourself."
Brother? Gu Nianmo lowered his eyes slightly, looking at the girl who was working hard to sell eggs, his eyes flashing with an unreadable emotion.
A large group of people quickly surrounded them, forming a human wall.
An older woman smiled and asked, "Little sister, how much are the eggs?"
Raising an eyebrow, Luo Shimiao saw an opportunity and showed 120% enthusiasm: "Pretty auntie, we forgot to bring a scale, so we'll sell them individually for 2 yuan each. It's definitely not too expensive!"
How many do you want? My brother will pack them for you himself.
"I want 10."
"Okay." Luo Shimiao nudged Gu Nian.
Gu Nian put down the eggs in his hand, resignedly tore off a red bag, and squatted down to fill it with eggs.
The aunt's eyes remained fixed on Gu Nian, and she couldn't stop smiling.
"Give"
Even when paying, his gaze was fixed on Gu Nian.
"Thank you, beautiful auntie." Luo Shimiao happily put the 20 yuan into her bag.
"He's so handsome! He's my son. I'd be laughing in my sleep."
"Auntie, your eggs are ready." Gu Nian handed the packaged eggs to the auntie.
"Thank you, they're selling well!" While taking the eggs, he also took the opportunity to touch Gu Nian's hand.
Once the first person buys it, there will be a second, a third...
Luo Shimiao called out to customers while collecting money, and Gu Nian was in charge of packing the orders.
"Authentic free-range eggs, natural and organic, are more nutritious and healthier."
"Buy with confidence and boldness. Don't hesitate or waver. If you hesitate or waver, you've come for nothing."
"Limited quantities available. If you don't act fast, they'll sell out in no time, and then it'll be too late to regret it."
"Eating our free-range eggs will make you smart and clever."
More than a hundred eggs were sold out in less than 10 minutes.
The girl's eyes sparkled as she flicked a wad of change in her hand: "Done!"
Unfold the prescription; inside are three red bills. Find the address written on it.
I glanced at it and asked the owner of a small shop next door for directions.
"OK, thanks."
Tie the egg basket to the back of the car, and Luo Shimiao drove Gu Nian around most of the town before finally finding the pharmacy.
"Doctor, please dispense the medicine." The prescription was placed on the table.
The doctor picked up the prescription and glanced at Luo Shimiao: "Wait a moment."
Ten minutes later, the doctor came out of the pharmacy with several packets of traditional Chinese medicine in his hand.
Pay the bill and leave.
After leaving the pharmacy, Luo Shimiao walked up to the director and extended her hand.
Director Li asked in confusion, "What?"
He clicked his tongue in disdain; his brain wasn't working properly at all.
"We completed the mission, isn't that a reward?"
Director Li pulled a red bill from his wallet and said impatiently, "Here you go, here you go."
After getting the money, Luo Shimiao took Gu Nian to the supermarket they had just passed.
Clutching the hard-earned money, she smiled and looked at Gu Nian, saying, "Teacher Gu, is there anything you'd like to eat? You deserve the most credit today, so tell me what you want to eat, and I'll buy it for you."
Gu Nian looked down at the girl, his eyes gentle.
"Whatever you buy, we'll eat it."
Luo Shimiao tilted his head and thought for a while: "6 people, 100 yuan is not enough. The production team is really stingy. They only give 100 yuan for a round trip of 60 kilometers."
Her resentful gaze fell on Director Li, only to find him eating ice cream, which made her even more annoyed.
Director Li noticed Luo Shimiao's gaze, deliberately licked the food a few times with a provocative look on his face.
"He's licking like a dog," Luo Shimiao said angrily, hands on her hips.
"We have money now, it's not like we can't afford it, what's so great about it, humph!" After saying that, he walked into the supermarket without looking back.
Director Li stood frozen in place, abandoning his ice cream, staring blankly at Xiao Zhang: "What did she just say about me?"
Xiao Zhang gave an awkward laugh; he dared not say anything.
"I...I wasn't listening."
Seeing Xiao Zhang's cowardly appearance, he snorted and turned to follow him inside.
Luo Shimiao walked in front, followed by Gu Nian pushing the cart.
There were so many things she wanted to buy that Luo Shimiao wished she could split her 100 yuan in half.
Walking to the fruit section, Luo Shimiao picked out some grapes and mangoes, skipping over the more expensive fruits.
Passing by the watermelon for the nth time, Gu Nian pressed his temples and pulled Luo Shimiao aside: "If you want to eat it, just buy it."
Luo Shimiao pouted slightly and said, "But it costs three yuan a pound."
