Luo Shimiao blinked: "No."
Xu Jin was stunned. Why...?
"He happens to be short of a secretary and asked if I would like to work at his company. He said the benefits are great. Gu Nian, what do you think, should I go?" Luo Shimiao looked up at Gu Nian with an innocent expression.
Gu Nian: "Secretary?"
The man's voice was very soft.
But to Xu Jin, it sounded like a death knell, as if a huge boulder was pressing down on him, making it hard for him to breathe.
"President Gu, I'm sorry, I was just saying it. I would never dare to steal your people." Xu Jin stood up and bowed deeply in apology, his face almost touching his knees.
“Ignorance is no excuse, don’t blame him. Xiao Lü and I will go back first, you can continue with your work.” Luo Shimiao sighed and lowered her eyes.
Gu Nian raised an eyebrow. This wasn't like Miao Miao's usual way of doing things. He glanced at her and asked, "Why do we need to go back first?"
Luo Shimiao stood up and said, "He's right, pets aren't allowed in the hotel, but I brought Xiao Lü in anyway, so I'm taking it home."
Xu Jin broke out in a cold sweat; he'd rather scold or beat him up.
"I'll go back with you." Gu Nian took her hand and walked towards the door.
When the people around heard that Gu Nian was leaving, they put down their wine glasses and tried to persuade him to stay. This was a rare occurrence for him, and they couldn't just let him go like that.
"President Gu, please wait a moment. You've just arrived. Why don't you finish your meal before heading back?" A middle-aged man wearing glasses blocked their way.
“Gu Nian, you should stay here. Xiao Lü and I can go back. Besides, it’s hungry, and there’s no food for it here.” Luo Shimiao opened his palm and poked Xiao Lü’s belly with his fingertip.
Gao Qianwen, who knew the whole story, came over and said, "Xu Jin has bad eyesight. This is not a pet, it's clearly just a toy bird with electronic devices inside, which is why it can talk."
"So Miss Luo, please feel free to stay and play. The toy bird won't bother anyone."

Xu Jin didn't dare to utter a word in rebuttal, his head drooping lower and lower, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into. He had offended so many people at once, and his future days would probably be difficult.
Luo Shimiao's mouth opened slightly. These people were actually resorting to lying through their teeth in order to keep Gu Nian.
If the toy bird were made to look like Little Green now, I doubt a single one would sell.
And so, the two of them were "forced" to stay by everyone.
Luo Shimiao looked at the large table of delicious food in front of him and squinted his eyes happily.
"Delicious, delicious!" Little Green's voice came from the side.
A small round table was placed next to Luo Shimiao, with Xiao Lü standing in the middle of the table. Around it were a circle of small dishes containing various kinds of birdseed.
