Gu Nian and Luo Shimiao stood on the balcony, quietly watching the crowds coming and going downstairs.
She couldn't help but recall what happened the night she met Gu Nian, tilting her head to gaze at his sculpted profile: "I've always forgotten to ask you, how were you drugged that night?"
Gu Nian's eyes turned cold: "Someone wanted to save their company from bankruptcy by sending their daughter to my bed. They secretly switched the water I was drinking when Jiawen wasn't looking."
"When I realized something was wrong and tried to leave the hotel, the other party used some means to get the room key and brought his daughter in."
Luo Shimiao's beautiful eyebrows furrowed as he asked in confusion, "But I didn't see any woman when I went in, and your condition at the time didn't seem like that of someone who had taken the antidote."
He gave a mocking smile: "They underestimated my patience."
"And then what? After failing to force himself on her, the woman just left?" It can't be that simple.
Gu Nian pulled her into his arms and rubbed the back of her head with his palm: "They were afraid I would leave the room, so they sent people to guard the door. I grabbed two people and brought them in, and fed them my bottle of water."
"I sat on the sofa watching the three of them perform." He sighed. "Unfortunately, at the crucial moment, they barged in and took him away."
“They had no manners at all; they didn’t even close the door for me when they left.” Gu Nian loosened his grip on her slightly and flicked her nose. “Then, not long after, you barged into my world.”
"Looking back now, I should thank them for not closing the door for me, otherwise how would I have met you?"
Luo Shimiao tiptoed and kissed him: "People who are destined to be together will meet sooner or later."
"But I wanted to know you sooner, and have you sooner."
She clenched her fist and punched his chest: "You're trying to take advantage of me even though I'm a minor?"
Gu Nian cupped her small face in his hands and smiled, "Let's raise her first, and then we'll make our move when she's older."
"Hey, can't a person get any sleep?!" Luo Jianxing's dissatisfied voice came from behind.
Luo Shimiao took the man's arm and said, "Let's go for a walk. Let's not stay here and be third wheels."
As Luo Jianxing walked past the hospital bed, he looked at Gu Nian and said, "You beast! It's a good thing I didn't bring Miaomiao to play with you before, otherwise you would have kidnapped her before she was even an adult, and my dad would have broken my legs!"
They hadn't lowered their voices, and every word they said reached their ears.
Gu Nian shrugged: "Likewise."
“I’m much more naive than you,” Luo Jianxing said, lifting his handsome face.
"Is that so?" His dark eyes looked at the two people crammed onto the small hospital bed, and he gave a meaningful smile.
After watching them leave the ward, Luo Jianxing put his arm around Li Man's waist, rested his head on her shoulder, and closed his eyes.
Li Man's gaze shifted to his thick, long eyelashes. His thin lips beneath his high, straight nose were bloodless, and his pale skin had a sickly pallor.
Sensing her gaze, Luo Jianxing opened his eyes, a smile playing on his lips: "Am I handsome?"
She raised her hand to cover his eyes and commanded, "Go to sleep."
He replied softly, "Okay."
........
Luo Shimiao and Gu Nian took the elevator down to the first floor. The moment the elevator doors opened, a commotion erupted.
"I'm going to sue your hospital. My mother was perfectly fine before she went into surgery, but she came out as a cold, lifeless corpse."
"You bunch of quacks, give me back my mother!"
Doctor: "I explained the risks of the surgery to you in detail before the operation."
"What bullshit about risks? We don't understand a word you're saying. Call your dean out here." The man who spoke was holding a black jar.
He was followed by three men and two women.
The doctor patiently advised, "Could you please go to the conference room first? Your disturbance here will affect other patients."
"We're not going; we'll handle things here."
"If you keep causing trouble, I'll call security!"
"Call me whatever you want, but we won't leave this room alive until we get an explanation." The man said, shoving the doctor.
The nurse standing nearby angrily said, "Why are you pushing people?"
“He was the attending physician. My mother died on his operating table. What’s wrong with pushing him?” She said, pushing him twice.
The situation changed instantly, and the family members and doctors started fighting.
Luo Shimiao and Gu Nian exchanged a glance. This situation was not uncommon in the hospital; some impulsive family members would even resort to violence with knives.
"Let's go," Luo Shimiao said calmly.
The two walked towards the door, and halfway there a black object flew towards Luo Shimiao, which she instinctively caught.
With a clang.
Luo Shimiao looked at the dark bottom of the jar and swallowed hard: "Gu Nian, did something fall out?"
“Yes,” Gu Nian glanced at it, “you have shoes too.”
The crisp sound made them stop.
She looked at the man in the lead and gave a wry smile: "Your mother spilled it."
He screamed, rushed over, knelt before her, and wept bitterly before the ashes scattered on the ground: "Mom~"
Luo Shimiao shoved the urn into his hands: "It's not my fault. When I caught it, the urn was upside down. If I hadn't caught it, the urn would have shattered into pieces."
The man ignored her words: "Mom, I'm sorry!"
She watched as the glistening snot dangled from between her noses and reminded her, "Your snot is about to fall down."
"Sniff..." The man sniffed hard, and half of the snot went back in.
Little Green, who had been silent all along, finally spoke up: "Oh my god." Her disdain was undisguised.
Gu Nian's indifferent voice rang out: "Instead of crying here, you should try to find a way to pick up your mother. Otherwise, if a gust of wind blows by, I'd like to see where you'll find your mother."
As if on cue, a gust of eerie wind blew in through the front door.
Luo Shimiao: "Holy crap! Is your mouth blessed or something?"
Gu Nian touched his nose, he was just saying it casually, who knew it would actually come.
The man was so frightened that he threw himself to the ground, using his body to shield the ashes from the wind.
The doctor rushed over and quickly closed the door.
After the wind stopped, the man used his hands to hold the ashes and put them into the urn, and his relatives came to help.
Luo Shimiao looked down at the ashes on the shoelaces, took off the shoes, and shook them at the mouth of the jar, causing the ashes to fall down with a clatter.
The man and his family immediately turned their attention to her.
Luo Shimiao paused, thought for a moment, and then said, "If you don't want the ashes on the shoes, I'll throw them away."
"Yes!" the man said decisively.
"Then these shoes are for you." She pushed the shoes forward.
Most of the ashes were returned to the urn, with only a small amount remaining that could not be retrieved.
One woman said, "The last bit is hard to pick up, why don't we find a broom and sweep it up?"
Luo Shimiao: "A vacuum cleaner might be more effective."
Xiao Lü: "I think transparent tape is also good."
