Luo Shimiao pointed to the courtyard house in front of him: "You usually live here?"
Gu Nian shook his head: "No, my grandfather lives in the old house. I come back to stay here once or twice a month. I have my own house, which is just across the street from yours."
After walking through a long corridor, Gu Nian led Luo Shimiao to the main hall. Luo Shimiao looked up and saw a sprightly old man sitting in the main seat. He must be the birthday celebrant today. Judging from his appearance alone, he did not look 80 years old at all.
The bottom two rows were full of people of all ages.
Upon seeing the two, Su Jingwen immediately stood up from her seat, smiled, and went to greet them. She stood between them, pushed her son aside, and took Luo Shimiao's hand, saying warmly, "I've finally been waiting for you! You look so beautiful on TV, but you're even more beautiful in person. Sit next to Auntie; we didn't have enough time to chat last night."
Su Jingwen pulled her husband up and pressed Luo Shimiao into a chair.

Su Jingwen turned to the old man in the main seat and said, "Dad, this is Miaomiao, whom I told you about this morning." Then she turned back to Luo Shimiao and said, "This is our birthday girl today."
Luo Shimiao smiled and said obediently, "Hello, Grandpa Gu. My name is Luo Shimiao. It is an honor to be here today to attend your birthday banquet."
Gu Ming laughed heartily: "Good, good." His eyes fell on Luo Shimiao's knees: "What a good child. Your pants have such a big hole, but you still can't bear to throw them away. Saving is a virtue. Anian, you should learn more from Miaomiao."
"Ah... haha," Luo Shimiao awkwardly fiddled with her pants, "Grandpa Gu, actually... the pants were originally designed like this. In the hot summer, the holes allow for ventilation and keep you cool... cool."
