Qi Yue was somewhat puzzled: "Should I know him?"
"Of course not, how could ordinary people like us possibly know such people?"
Qi Yu smiled and tucked the stray hairs on the side of her face behind her ear. Qi Yue subconsciously wanted to avoid it, but she still managed to hold back.
She didn't know why, but even though her younger brother Qi Yu treated her very well, she always felt a strange fear whenever she faced him.
Qi Yu ignored her resistance and continued to look at her with a warm smile: "Try it, how is my cooking?"
For some reason, Qi Yue felt a little guilty. What was she afraid of about such a good younger brother?
The aroma of the food wafted through the air, filling the entire room. Qi Yue took a deep breath: "It smells so good, it must taste delicious."
As soon as she finished speaking, Qi Yu placed a peeled shrimp on the plate in front of her.
Qi Yue didn't stand on ceremony and immediately picked up her chopsticks and started eating.
The two are clearly siblings, but the younger brother seems to be good at everything, while she can't do anything right, even washing clothes and cooking are a mess.
Qi Yue was a little annoyed; she really wasn't a good enough older sister.
Throughout the meal, Qi Yu kept picking food and peeling shrimp for her, but she didn't eat much herself.
Qi Yue felt a little embarrassed: "Xiao Yu, you eat too."
She picked up her chopsticks and put some food into Qi Yu's bowl: "Try this shrimp."
She had just noticed that Qi Yu had been peeling shrimp for her, but she hadn't tasted a single one herself.
"Thank you, sister."
Qi Yu smiled and looked up, his deep eyes fixed on her fair and delicate face.
A damp, salty sea breeze blew in through the window, making the incandescent light bulb on the roof sway and flicker, casting an eerie glow on his face.
A blurry image flashed through her mind, and Qi Yue's hand trembled. She suddenly screamed, clutching her head, large beads of cold sweat sliding down her forehead.
Qi Yu stood up nervously, her movements so abrupt that she almost knocked over the table: "Sister, are you alright?"
Qi Yue bit her lower lip, her small face as pale as paper. She curled up on the stool, groaning in pain, her mind filled with chaotic and blurry images that kept changing like a revolving lantern.
She clutched her head tightly, gasping for breath, like a drowning person suddenly brought ashore. After what seemed like an eternity, Qi Yu heard her murmur a name: "Yan Qing."
His pupils contracted instantly, his dark eyelashes drooped, casting heavy shadows on his pale face. His profile was pale and thin, appearing even more sinister and eerie in the flickering light.
He placed his hands on Qi Yue's shoulders, his fingers unconsciously tightening, and leaned closer to her, his voice hoarse and gloomy like never before: "Sister, what did you say?"
However, the person curled up on the stool remained motionless. Qi Yu looked down with a gloomy expression and realized that the person had fainted at some point.
Her pale face was covered in cold sweat, and a few strands of messy black hair clung to her cheeks. Her usually delicate and bright face now looked fragile, like a fragile porcelain doll.
Qi Yu's cold gaze softened instantly. They didn't die in the explosion, nor were they reborn, but because they drank his blood, Gu Baiwei forgot everything and only thought that she was his sister Qi Yue.
His slender, pale fingers traced the contours of her face, his eyes filled with infatuation: "Sister, forget about it. Stay obediently by my side, or... I will kill you again."
He carefully tucked her messy hair behind her ear, then gently bent down and lifted her from the chair. As he stood up, his heart suddenly ached, and he stiffened for a moment.
After a long while, Qi Yu took a deep breath and, with a calm expression, held Qi Yue—no, it should be said that she was Gu Baiwei—and gently placed her on the bed. She took off her shoes, covered her with a thin blanket, and then turned and went back into the kitchen.
When Gu Baiwei woke up, she smelled a strong herbal scent in the air.
She frowned, propped herself up on her arms, and sat up in bed. Her gaze passed through the open door and landed on the busy figure in the kitchen. Her heart skipped a beat.
A handsome, slender young man, dressed in a simple black T-shirt, was intently staring at a white clay pot on the gas stove, occasionally lifting the lid to check and adjusting the flame.
The clay pot was making a bubbling sound, and along with the sound, a strong medicinal smell wafted from the kitchen, which smelled very bitter.
Gu Baiwei stared at the man's back for a while, then slowly looked away. She had just had a very chaotic dream, and after waking up, she remembered some things...
She wasn't Qi Yue at all, and her surname wasn't Qi at all. Her real name was Gu Baiwei, and Qi Yu wasn't her biological brother, but her neighbor's brother. The two had a good relationship when they were young, but for some reason, she couldn't remember what happened after they grew up...
She couldn't even remember how she got injured and lost her memory.
At this moment, Qi Yu carefully carried in a white porcelain bowl. Seeing that she was awake, her face lit up with surprise: "Sister, you're awake?"
Gu Baiwei shifted her gaze to his face and nodded gently: "Mm."
Noticing her cold attitude, Qi Yu didn't care. She turned on the table fan and carefully cooled the medicine.
Just then, Gu Baiwei suddenly spoke up: "Xiaoyu, how did I get injured and lose my memory? Can you tell me?"
Qi Yu paused slightly as she stirred with the spoon, turning to look at her with a probing gaze and a deeply hidden wariness: "Sister, why did you suddenly ask this? Did you remember something?"
