Shen Yanqing looked down at her, arms crossed in a defensive posture: "Who exactly are you?"
A cool breeze blew through the woods, rustling the leaves.
The thin layer of bangs that covered Tang Doudou's eyes was blown up by the wind, revealing a pair of sinister eyes.
Although she had the figure of a child of a few years old and a chubby baby face, her eyes were not as innocent as a child's; instead, they were full of the calculation and depth of an adult.
She slowly curled the corners of her lips: "Want to know? Handsome brother, come closer and I'll tell you."
Shen Yanqing just stared at her coldly without moving.
"Tch, this is so boring."
Tang Doudou gave a slightly bored twitch of her lips.
"Boss, are you alright?"
Just then, Big Head's voice suddenly came from behind.
When Tang Doudou saw Da Tou and the group of tall, burly bodyguards in black behind him, her thin eyebrows instantly furrowed.
Shen Yanqing raised his eyes: "Capture them alive."
Several strong bodyguards immediately scattered and surrounded the petite Tang Doudou.
"Handsome brother, what are you doing? I'm so scared."
She shrank back, her face showing fear. If you didn't look into her sharp eyes, she really did look like an innocent child.
The black-clad bodyguards who had surrounded the girl were momentarily at a loss for what to do. It seemed a bit like bullying a little girl, with a group of professional bodyguards targeting her.
Shen Yanqing frowned: "Make your move."
The tall bodyguard standing behind Tang Doudou gritted his teeth and stretched out his two thick arms, trying to grab the girl's small body.
Before his outstretched hand could even touch anyone, the tree branch overhead suddenly swayed, and something fell onto the back of his hand with a thud.
Thinking it was an insect on the tree, he was about to shake it off when suddenly his hand trembled and a sharp pain shot through the back of his hand.
He groaned, only then realizing that what was crawling on the back of his hand wasn't an insect, but a large centipede more than an inch long.
The back of the hand that had just been touched by the centipede was already a bluish-black color.
He immediately screamed and desperately threw the centipede to the ground, then stomped on it hard. With a soft thud, the centipede was crushed beyond recognition.
The lush weeds that had come into contact with the centipede's sap withered and died in the blink of an eye.
"Be careful, something falling from the tree is poisonous!"
The bodyguard in black shouted, but it was too late.
Another gust of wind blew by, the branches swayed in the wind, and with the rustling of a leaf, a large number of centipedes and other poisonous insects fell from the tree like rain.
Wherever those poisonous insects touched, the skin was covered in a stinging, bluish-purple tinge.
Shen Yanqing dodged the falling objects from the tree with a grim face. In just a short while, half of the dozen or so bodyguards he brought had already been poisoned.
The little girl, who had just looked timid and frightened, raised her head with a smile, clapped her hands at them, and said innocently, "Handsome brother, your people are so amazing! You managed to dodge half of them."
"However, the real show has only just begun, so you'd better watch out, hehe."
As the child's innocent voice faded, a rustling sound suddenly came from all around. The sound grew closer and clearer, as if countless things were gathering towards them...
The grass rustled, and something was moving cautiously inside, making a soft, whispering sound.
Gu Baiwei looked down curiously and met a pair of large, bright, amber eyes.
A furry head peeked out from the grass, meowing warily at her, and dared not approach.
She shook her head, but the scene before her remained unchanged.
After staring at the cat's big eyes for a moment, Gu Baiwei remained silent for two seconds before pinching her thigh hard.
It didn't hurt at all; it was just a dream.
Just as she was thinking this, a gentle voice suddenly came from behind her: "Miss Gu?"
She recognized the voice immediately; it was Qi Yu's.
As she was thinking this, her body had already turned her head before she could even process what she was thinking.
The man smiled at her; his skin was so pale it was almost bloodless, but his face was handsome and sculpted, with a touch of youthful sunshine. It was indeed Qi Yu.
"Young Master Qi?"
Gu Baiwei heard her own curious tone.
This time, the situation was similar to the previous times she had dreamt. She was still floating in mid-air like a ghost, but she was connected to her own body and senses.
"Miss Gu, what a coincidence."
Qi Yu smiled at her with a gentle and refined manner.
"Meow!"
Just then, a sharp meow came from the side, urgent and shrill, full of warning.
"Wow, what an adorable cat."
Qi Yu then noticed the calico cat in the bushes behind Gu Baiwei. Curious, she peeked over and took a few steps closer, bending down to try and pet the cat.
The calico cat stared at him warily with its amber eyes, its tail held high, its back arched, and its fur almost standing on end, meowing at Qi Yu with a defensive expression.
Its cries were loud and urgent, and its eyes were wide open, almost bulging out of their sockets, as if it had seen something terrifying.
"You must have scared it; these wild cats are very shy around strangers."
Gu Baiwei frowned, reached into her sleeve and pulled out an oil paper package. She carefully opened it, revealing several pieces of dried fish inside.
She picked up a piece and threw it in front of the calico cat.
Smelling the aroma of fish, the calico cat hesitated, glancing at Qi Yu and then at the dried fish in front of it, seemingly contemplating whether to eat it.
A moment later, it swiftly snatched the dried fish and darted into the depths of the bushes.
Gu Baiwei felt somewhat helpless. She had fed this stray cat many times, but it remained very wary and would run away every time it finished eating.
Today was terrible; they left before even finishing their food.
She couldn't help but sigh. The weather was getting colder and colder, and she wondered if the little guy would freeze to death if he stayed outside.
Seeing the cat run away, Qi Yu straightened up helplessly and touched her nose: "Sorry, I think I scared your cat away."
Gu Baiwei shook her head: "It's okay, it will come back."
As he spoke, he placed the remaining dried fish and the oil paper package in the spot where the cat had been.
"Miss Gu really likes cats?"
Qi Yu watched her movements and suddenly asked a question.
Gu Baiwei stood up and said, "I do like it."
“Then I’ll give Miss Gu one another day. My friend happens to have a rare breed that he got from Persia. Consider it an apology for impersonating my cousin before.”
Qi Yu said with a smile, her eyes falling on the open bag of dried fish on the ground before quickly looking away.
"No need to be so polite. Your cousin and I... never mind, it's not your fault."
Gu Baiwei shook her head. She later learned that Qi Yu was Ye Yunting's cousin, and that he had impersonated his cousin to arrange a blind date with her last time.
She felt nothing for either of the cousins; it made no difference to her who it was.
