Shen Yanqing walked around the dark room. There were only a few simple pieces of furniture in the room, and the places to hide things were very limited.
He watched in silence for a while, then got up and left.
When I got to the door, I saw Gu Baiwei standing there, staring blankly at the painting on the wall.
"Weiwei, what's wrong?"
Hearing his familiar deep voice, Gu Baiwei looked away and shook her head: "It's nothing."
But I couldn't help but glance at the painting again.
Noticing her gaze, Shen Yanqing's eyes also fell on the painting.
Previously, my attention was focused on the switch in the dark room. But when I saw the woman's serene and gentle profile in the painting, and then looked down at the pretty and delicate face of the woman beside me, I felt that she looked somewhat like her.
"Weiwei, has anything come to mind?"
He gestured to the bodyguards behind him to take the painting with them, and as he helped Gu Baiwei downstairs, he asked her softly.
Gu Baiwei paused, then shook her head again.
"If you can't remember, that's fine. Let's go home."
Holding her slightly cold little hand in his own, Shen Yanqing led her downstairs at a slower pace.
Feeling the warmth from his palm, Gu Baiwei was stunned for a moment, then her lips curled up slightly. The fear she felt when she stood at the door just now seemed to be blocked out by this large hand.
It's not surprising that she would like such a gentle and considerate man.
Little did she know that the man in front of her was only exceptionally patient when he was with her; when he was with other people, he still maintained the same superior attitude.
For example, right now, Shen Yanqing is holding her hand, sitting on a soft and comfortable leather sofa, with a man and a woman opposite them.
The young man had deep-set features and a cold, stern expression. He leaned back on the sofa with his arms crossed, his cold, deep eyes meeting Shen Yanqing's gaze. Occasionally, when he looked at her, a rare hint of tenderness would appear in his eyes.
The woman—or rather, the girl—had a fair face with chubby cheeks, a delicate nose, tightly pursed red lips, and large, angry eyes glaring at Shen Yanqing.
*Thump!* The girl slammed her hand on the coffee table and jumped up. "Hey, Mr. Chen, why won't our aunt let us take her home?"
The tall man sitting next to her leaned forward, clasped his hands together on the coffee table, and looked at her with a cold gaze: "President Shen, our request is very simple: take your aunt home."
Shen Yanqing released her hand, instead wrapping one arm around her waist, crossing his legs, and adopting a languid posture: "I'm worried."
"Why should I worry about you, an outsider?"
Ye Chuyue put her hands on her hips, her attitude firm.
The big guy behind him silently gave the girl a thumbs up. After following the boss for so many years, this was the first time he had ever seen someone dare to speak to him in such a tone. She was brave.
"Soon that won't be the case anymore. Maybe you'll even have to call me... Uncle-in-law."
Faced with her aggressive questioning, Shen Yanqing was not angry at all; instead, a faint smile appeared on her lips.
He wouldn't hold a grudge against a mere young girl, especially since she was from his woman's family.
"You...you're talking nonsense! Auntie, don't be fooled by this man. He's not like he seems at all."
Unable to win an argument with Shen Yanqing, Ye Chuyue turned to look at Gu Baiwei beside her.
But when he met her bewildered eyes, his heart skipped a beat.
After a pause, she couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with her?"
Ye Sinian, who was standing next to them, also noticed something was wrong. They had been there for a long time, and Gu Baiwei had been sitting quietly next to Shen Yanqing, sometimes even nervously grabbing the hem of his clothes.
When their eyes occasionally met, her gaze was no longer filled with the usual tenderness, but with a strangeness I had never seen before.
Over the past year, he had finally recovered from the pain of losing his mother again, only to suddenly learn that she was still alive.
Upon hearing the news, he couldn't wait a moment longer and eagerly took his sister to bring her home. If it weren't for the fleeting thunderstorm, he would have arrived much sooner.
As a result of the rain, there was a traffic jam on the road, and when we arrived, we were told that the person had already left.
They waited anxiously at the Shen family villa for three or four hours, and when she finally returned, they found that she seemed not to recognize them.
"Auntie?"
Ye Sinian called out tentatively, but Gu Baiwei seemed not to hear him. She simply leaned against Shen Yanqing, her eyes showing a hint of barely perceptible tension.
"She has amnesia."
Shen Yanqing handed the water glass on the table to Gu Baiwei, who obediently held the glass with both hands, blinked, and asked, "Just now... were you calling me?"
"how so?"
Ye Chuyue disregarded everything else and rushed to Gu Baiwei, pointing at herself and saying urgently, "Auntie, don't you recognize me? I'm your niece, Yueyue."
Gu Baiwei looked at her face carefully for a while, then shook her head: "I'm sorry, I can't remember."
"What about my brother? Ye Sinian, do you remember him?"
Ye Chuyue pointed at Ye Sinian unwillingly, but Gu Baiwei remained silent for a moment before slowly shaking her head.
"What should we do? Auntie doesn't remember us."
Ye Chuyue's eyes instantly reddened. To her, her suddenly appearing aunt was like a mother, almost making up for all her childhood fantasies about her mother.
No matter what, she will always stand firmly by her side to protect and defend her. Even if she is rebellious or mischievous, she will firmly believe that she must have her reasons for doing all of this.
But this kind aunt doesn't even remember her now.
Ye Sinian's lips tightened into a straight line as he silently looked at Gu Baiwei.
After a while, he stood up from the sofa and walked to Ye Chuyue's side: "It's okay, I can invite the best doctors to treat Auntie. If it can't be done in China, we'll go abroad."
As long as people are alive, that's all that matters.
He thought to himself, it doesn't matter if she doesn't remember, as long as he does.
Ye Chuyue nodded with red eyes and looked at Gu Baiwei: "Auntie, come home with me. My brother and I will take good care of you."
Ye Sinian, who was standing next to her, stared at her with deep eyes and a firm expression, clearly sharing the same thoughts as Ye Chuyue.
Gu Baiwei looked at the two people with some helplessness. She had to admit that when the two people stood in front of her, she did not feel repulsed. In fact, she even felt a little inexplicable intimacy with them.
However, they were still strangers to her.
Instinctively, she gripped Shen Yanqing's clothes tightly; he was the only person she knew right now.
"She can't go back with you for the time being."
Shen Yanqing's deep voice echoed in the room, and he tightened his grip on Gu Baiwei's waist.
"Boss, I'm back. That painting..."
Big Head's loud voice broke the silence of the room.
He strode into the room and saw four people sitting around the table; his words trailed off.
