Chapter Eight: Beauty Saves the Day

When Ye Sinian returned to the milk tea shop, he saw Gu Baiwei sitting by the window talking to Ye Chuyue.

Ye Chuyue's face was filled with a long-lost warm smile, which made Ye Sinian pause in surprise.

He hadn't seen his sister smile like that in a long time since their parents died.

A slight smile unconsciously appeared on her lips. Just then, Ye Chuyue looked up and met his gaze. In an instant, her smile vanished, and she pursed her lips, lowering her head to continue drinking her milk tea.

Ye Sinian stood there for a moment, then strode back to the table and sat down, unable to resist asking casually, "What are you talking about?"

The moment those words were spoken, the lively atmosphere that had been so pleasant instantly turned cold.

Ye Chuyue ignored him completely, only lowering her head to sip the milk tea in her cup.

"Hehe, Yueyue, you should go back to school soon. How about your brother takes you?"

Gu Baiwei quickly stepped in with a smile to smooth things over, and then secretly winked at Ye Sinian, saying, "This is all I can do for you, Mother."

Ye Sinian silently picked up the suit jacket beside him and reached for Ye Chuyue's schoolbag, but a slender hand snatched it away first.

He was stunned for a moment, and then he saw Ye Chuyue casually throw her schoolbag on her shoulder, stand up with a look of annoyance: "Aren't you leaving?"

She casually raised her hand and waved to Gu Baiwei: "I'm leaving."

Before he finished speaking, he strode towards the door.

On the street, a young girl dressed in a trendy outfit was followed by a handsome man in a suit who looked like a business elite. This strange scene attracted the attention of many passersby.

Noticing the strange gazes, Ye Sinian couldn't help but speak up: "Ye Chuyue."

The other person ignored him and, as they passed a barbershop, tossed him the backpack from their shoulder: "Here you go."

Ye Sinian paused, looked up and saw Ye Chuyue swaggering into the barbershop next door. He couldn't help but frown, but when he thought of what Gu Baiwei had secretly told him, he swallowed back the words, "What are you up to now?"

Forget it, let her do whatever she wants. Anyway, even if she lives like this for the rest of her life, he can still support her.

Lost in thought, Ye Chuyue sat down in the swivel chair at the hair salon, her gaze falling on the colorful posters of young women on the wall. After a pause, she said, "Dye my hair black."

For a moment, Ye Sinian wondered if he was hallucinating at such a young age. Ye Chuyue actually wanted to dye her hair back to black?

Because of her flamboyant hair, the siblings had argued countless times, each time ending in a bitter argument. Unexpectedly, she would dye it back on her own initiative.

Thinking of this, his gaze towards Ye Chuyue became inexplicably complicated.

Perhaps his mother was right; he really didn't understand his younger sister at all.

If we change the way we interact, she might actually be willing to open her heart to me.

Just as he was lost in thought, Ye Chuyue spoke impatiently: "Ye Sinian, what are you standing there for? Pay up!"

Ye Chuyue turned her head and met Ye Sinian's gaze, which was like that of an old mother whose child had grown up overnight. A chill ran down her spine: "Damn it, Ye Sinian, are you possessed?"

Ye Sinian then composed himself and replied coldly, "Shut up."

Then he walked over briskly and swiped his card to pay.

...

Inside the milk tea shop, Gu Baiwei was listlessly sipping her milk tea while waiting for Ye Sinian to return.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a pretty young girl being blocked by a sleazy man with a bald head, wearing a thick gold chain, and smoking a cigarette at the corner of the window.

The girl took a step back in fear, only to have her slender wrist roughly grabbed by the man.

"what you do?"

The girl struggled to shake off the man's hand, but the difference in strength between them was too great, and no matter how hard she tried, she could not break free.

The refined man, who had been hiding in the shadows, watched this scene, slowly pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, and tugged at his collar with a hint of annoyance.

Just as the time was ripe and they were about to make their move, a loud shout suddenly came from not far away: "Let go of that girl!"

Before the bald man could react, a milk tea bag was suddenly swung straight at his face.

The man sneered and reached out to block the milk tea bag, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in his hand, as if he had been hit hard by a brick.

The next instant, the bag, impacted by the force of the impact, crashed to the ground with a thud. A corner was torn open, revealing a brick inside.

The bald man clutched his injured arm, his eyes filled with malice. Damn it, which bastard dared to plot against him!

He looked up and suddenly saw a petite figure pulling the woman from before as they ran wildly into a nearby alley. He narrowed his eyes and was about to chase after them when a hand patted his shoulder.

"Damn it! Which bastard dares to bother me..."

Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly met the man's eyes, which seemed to be covered with thin ice behind his gold-rimmed glasses. She immediately swallowed the curse words that were about to come out of her mouth and put on a fawning smile: "Boss, I'll go after that little girl right now and make sure you get what you want."

Frustrated, Shen Yanqing ripped off the top button of his collar: "Get out."

"That little wench..."

The bald man, nearly 1.8 meters tall and muscular, stood in front of the slender, tall, and refined man, looking as timid as a little wife, even his words were tinged with caution.

"We'll talk about it next time."

Shen Yanqing looked at the spot where the two had disappeared, a flash of coldness passing through his eyes.

On the other side, Gu Baiwei, panting heavily, dragged Xia Shihan behind her as they ran wildly until they could no longer see a ghost behind them. Only then did she gasp for breath and lean against the wall.

"Thank you."

Xia Shih-Han's voice was soft, like a feather tickling one's heart.

Gu Baiwei couldn't help but look at her a few more times, and her eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

The girl's skin was as white as snow, and her long, jet-black hair was casually draped over her shoulders, shimmering faintly in the sunlight like the finest silk. Her eyes were clear as water, and when she looked at someone, it seemed as if the stars and the sea were hidden within them; one glance could easily make someone fall in love.

Holy crap, with such a beautiful future daughter-in-law, how could this unfilial son fall for that face that's had countless surgeries? Are his eyes just for decoration?

After a moment of silence, Gu Baiwei silently gave herself the answer: "Yes, she inherited this from her father; she has a hereditary blindness."

Xia Shihhan felt a little embarrassed by the woman's blatant gaze. Just as she was about to speak, she saw the petite woman in front of her, who was beautiful even without makeup, suddenly stand up straight and slap her thigh: "Oh no, I left my phone at the store."

That was the latest iPhone her son had just bought her, and she had to get it back. Of course, it wasn't because she was afraid someone would see the picture of the muscular male streamer she had collected inside.

Before Xia Shihan could react, Gu Baiwei, who had just said she couldn't run anymore, had already dashed away in her high heels.

Xia Shihhan paused for a second, then realized that she had forgotten to ask for the other person's phone number. The other person had helped her so much, she should find a chance to thank her.

Why don't we go back and check? That man should be gone by now.

Thinking of this, she bit her lip and was about to turn back when her familiar cell phone rang suddenly.
