Chapter 253 The Witch

Lost in thought, the car soon stopped in front of a spacious rural house with a tiled roof.

The large black iron gate is painted with couplets in red ink and black characters. The sides of the gate frame are covered with antique floral and bird tiles. The walls are painted yellow and red, just like the surrounding buildings.

Is this it?

Ye Chuyue muttered something to herself and craned her neck to look at the destination marked on Ye Sinian's phone.

This looks like an ordinary farmhouse, not at all like the place where a shaman would live.

At this moment, a square-faced man with dark skin approached from afar, carrying a hoe.

Seeing them raise their eyelids slightly, seemingly without much surprise: "Here to see what's going on?"

"Yes, we've come to Aunt Gui for advice."

The man looked the three of them up and down for a moment, then nodded: "Go in."

As he spoke, he pushed open the large iron gate and led the three of them inside.

The three followed into the courtyard, which was quite large. There were three main rooms at the back and a south-facing room at the front.

There were some farm tools piled up against the west wall, along with stacks of bulging fertilizer bags.

There was also a big black dog tied up in the south corner.

It was lying quietly, but when it saw several people enter the room, it immediately started barking wildly, making people inexplicably uneasy.

The square-faced man walked over and kicked the black dog: "Wangcai, be quiet."

The black dog whimpered softly twice, lay down on the ground pretending to be dead, and perfectly demonstrated the power of a dog relying on its master.

"They're inside. You can go in yourselves."

The man with the square face left a message, then shouldered his hoe and went into the house to the south.

The three exchanged a glance, stepped into the main room, and passed through the hall to see the middle-aged woman sitting in the open west room.

The woman looked to be in her early fifties, with dark yellow skin, a typical appearance of a rural woman.

Could this be the legendary fairy maiden? She doesn't quite look like her.

Gu Baiwei was pondering this in her heart when she heard the woman speak: "Who wants to have their fortune told?"

"I want to see."

Before she could react, Ye Chuyue stepped forward and asked, "What do I need to do?"

As she spoke, she winked at Gu Baiwei, her meaning clear: she wanted to test whether this fortune teller was genuine or not.

The fortune teller raised her eyelids slightly: "Two hundred per time, did you bring cigarettes?"

Mrs. Xia specifically instructed them to bring a pack of cigarettes, and the three of them discussed it and decided to buy a whole carton to take with them.

Ye Chuyue placed a pack of cigarettes and two hundred yuan on the table.

The fortune teller put the money into her pocket before asking, "What do you want to ask?"

Ye Chuyue thought for a moment and said, "It's about feelings."

The sorceress glanced at her, opened the cigarettes, lit one, put it in her mouth, and then lit three more cigarettes, with the burning end facing up, and placed them on the offering table.

Gu Baiwei then saw clearly that there were three Bodhisattva statues on the altar, each with a different expression.

White smoke rose in wisps, swirling around the Bodhisattva's compassionate eyes, giving off an inexplicably strange feeling.

The sorceress took a puff of her cigarette, closed her eyes, and slowly opened them after a long while.

Whether it was her imagination or not, the moment she opened her eyes, Gu Baiwei suddenly felt that her originally calm and numb gaze had become somewhat sharp.

She opened her eyes, glanced at Ye Chuyue, then slowly closed them again. When she opened her eyes again, her expression had returned to its original calm.

"Living apart will inevitably cause some ups and downs in your relationship, but it will ultimately be a happy one. I would like to remind your partner to take extra care of themselves while they are in the hospital and to try not to be alone."

The fortune teller finished speaking casually and took another puff of her cigarette.

Ye Chuyue didn't think much of it at first, but when she heard that her boyfriend worked at the hospital, her eyes widened immediately: "Auntie, how did you know my boyfriend works at the hospital?"

The sorceress didn't answer her question, but instead looked at Gu Baiwei, her brows slowly furrowing.

This girl's fate seems so strange. At first glance, she seems destined to die young, but upon closer inspection, she appears to have the potential for longevity.

She'd seen half her life, and this was the first time she'd encountered something so outrageous.

Ye Chuyue had already begun to believe in the fortune teller's abilities, so when she saw her staring at Gu Baiwei, she quickly pushed her forward: "Aunt Gui, this is my aunt. She's been having a lot of bad luck this past year. Did she break some taboo?"

As she spoke, she handed over a pack of cigarettes and two hundred yuan, her attitude quite respectful.

The fortune teller concealed the surprise in her eyes, nodded, and lit three cigarettes as before, except that the Buddha statue facing those three cigarettes was now the one on the left.

As usual, she took out a cigarette and put it in her mouth, but before she could even light it, the three cigarettes on the table suddenly fell to the ground with a thud.

The sorceress's expression changed, and she hurriedly stood up from her chair, reached out to pick up the cigarette, and then respectfully bowed three times to the Buddha statue, muttering something under her breath.

After she finished doing all this, the three cigarettes stood firmly on the offering table, motionless.

The sorceress turned to look at Gu Baiwei, a slight ripple appearing in her calm eyes. After a long while, she lowered her eyelids, concealing the emotions in her eyes: "If you want to defy fate, you must naturally go through twists and turns."

After saying that, she sat back down in her chair, her voice cold: "You can leave now."

Gu Baiwei's face paled. Defying fate? She saw through it?

Ye Chuyue was a little confused. She had at least said a few words to her earlier, so why did it end with just a few words?

She was about to say something when her gaze met Gu Baiwei's, and the other woman slowly shook her head.

On the way back from this "fortune-telling" trip, the three of them each had their own thoughts.

Remembering what the fortune teller had said about Song Anze being more careful at the hospital recently, Ye Chuyue immediately took out her phone and called him.

The phone rang several times, but no one answered. Thinking of what the fortune teller had said, she suddenly felt a little panicked.

"Mom, do you think Anze will get into trouble?"

Ye Chuyue felt extremely flustered and looked at Gu Baiwei with a blank expression.

Gu Baiwei grabbed her hand and comforted her, "There are so many people at the clinic, nothing should happen. If you're worried, you can have your brother take you to the clinic first."

Ye Chuyue nodded vigorously, her hand gripping Gu Baiwei's hand, her palms sweating with nervousness.

The fortune teller said it would happen soon, not today, so nothing should happen.

I tried to comfort myself with this thought, but I still couldn't help feeling a little worried.

"Brother, could you drive a little faster?"

No sooner had she finished speaking than her phone rang in her hand.

Upon seeing Anze's note above, Ye Chuyue immediately answered the call.

"Yueyue, I just had surgery. You're back?"

Song Anze's tired voice came from the other end of the phone.

Ye Chuyue finally felt relieved and hurriedly repeated the fortune teller's words to Song Anze.

Song Anze smiled helplessly: "Okay, I'll definitely be careful lately."

But his tone clearly indicated disbelief.

"That fortune teller is incredibly accurate; she even figured out right away that you work at a hospital... Anyway, you really need to be careful."

Ye Chuyue was afraid he wouldn't believe her, so she emphasized it again.

Song Anze chuckled softly, about to speak, when a nurse's urgent voice came from behind him: "Dr. Song, quick, the patient has been in a car accident and is bleeding heavily, he needs surgery immediately..."
