Chapter 150 Her Mysterious Influence
Ning Shuyin ignored his sarcasm.
"Where is Gu Lei?" she asked directly.
In Loran's unfathomable dark red eyes, Ning Shuyin's beautiful face was reflected.
"How should I know?" he said coldly, his thin lips barely moving. "Is he missing or dead?"
"You don't know?" Ning Shuyin stared directly at him. "Then how come there are scratches from your lightsaber on Gu Lei's desk?"
Loran's eyebrows twitched slightly, then he revealed a mocking smile: "As expected of a navigator's insight. After only three days of training here, you've already recognized my sword's edge."
He neither admitted nor denied it.
Ning Shuyin's tone was unwavering: "You were the one who used the hypnotic gas at Yaoling Hotel, weren't you?"
"How did you guess?" he asked, almost admitting it with an air of confidence.
"Because of that misunderstanding in Gu Lei's dressing room last time."
Staring intently at her bright and beautiful eyes, Loran finally showed annoyance.
"Misunderstanding? Ning Shuyin, you are ridiculously naive."
The word "ridiculous" had barely left his lips when Loran, several meters away, transformed into a streak of light with incredible speed.
When he reappeared, he was already in front of her.
He reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling hard.
Ning Shuyin felt a sudden dizziness as her back slammed heavily against the control panel beside her.
"I tolerate your tricks in front of me time and time again, and I tolerate you having other dates."
He twirled his fingers through her dark hair that was spread across the control panel, then pulled them back with a swift motion.
"Ugh!" she groaned in pain.
"Aren't four men enough for you? You even went to curry favor with Gu Lei, and you even gave him that kind of thing."
She was pressed tightly against the control panel and trapped in Loran's arms.
His silver bangs brushed against her forehead, and he whispered in her ear, his voice suppressing a fit of rage.
Those words drilled into her ears: "Now, for his sake, you're acting like a cat guarding its food, coming here to me bar its teeth and claws."
"Ning Shuyin, tell me, what exactly is this misunderstanding?"
"I told you it was a misunderstanding!"
An unnamed fire burned in her chest, almost making her blurt out, "Think what you want."
But just as her emotions were about to overwhelm her reason, she forcibly pulled herself back.
No, we can't do that. Letting Loran's misunderstanding continue will only deepen.
This is not good for world stability; things need to be made clear.
"Those things were meant for Qianqian, but they ended up in Gu Lei's office because they were sent to the wrong address."
“I only went there that day to get my things back.” She forced herself to meet his gaze. Her eyes were a little red, but her tone remained stubborn.
"Hmph, I don't believe it." Loran's tone remained cold and hard, but the grip on her wrist loosened slightly.
Seeing her slightly red eyes and stubborn expression, the jealousy burning in his heart was extinguished as if by a sudden downpour.
Was it sent to the wrong address?
Although the reason sounded absurd, looking into her beautiful eyes, as bright as stars on a summer night, he really wanted to believe it.
Lorraine loosened her grip on her hair.
Pull back.
But just as he was about to release her wrist with his other hand, he sensed something was wrong.
When did he become so easily soft-hearted?
There was a strange force at work, weakening his negative emotions. He had sensed it last time in the dressing room.
Recalling the first time he met her, he was given a strange drug that made him uncontrollably protective of her and act in ways that were not in line with his usual personality.
Thinking of these things, Loran's expression, which had just softened, froze again.
He tightened his grip on her wrist, gripping it firmly.
With a bang.
He slammed his other hand on the control panel behind her, the force making the surface vibrate.
He sneered, "Instead of explaining about that pile of toys, shouldn't you explain something else to me first?"
He leaned down very close to her, his dark red eyes seeming to see into her soul: "Ning Shuyin, what exactly did you do to me?"
Ning Shuyin was taken aback: "What tricks?"
“Don’t play dumb,” Loran said with a smile, but his face was incredibly sinister. “Did you use some kind of mind-affecting ability on me? Or some kind of drug that I don’t know about?”
"Otherwise, why would I..."
Loran didn't say what he was going to say, but the disgust in his eyes said it all.
Ning Shuyin felt a pang of panic.
The feeling he described, could it be a meme attractor?
Is Loran that sensitive? He can actually sense it.
Ning Shuyin suddenly remembered the upgrade of the Meme Attraction Device midway through its operation, which increased the favorability rating from 30 points to 50 points.
Perhaps it was because the amplitude was too large that Loran noticed it?
But she could only deny it: "I don't know what you're talking about, Lorraine."
"Don't know? Fine, very well." Loran finally released her. He took several steps back, as if keeping his distance from some monster.
"Want to know about Gu Lei?" he asked slowly, the emotional fluctuations in his eyes gradually fading, like a glass of water that had gone completely cold.
“Okay,” he said.
Ning Shuyin had already stood up straight from the control panel, waiting for his answer.
Loran's eyes flashed with ruthlessness: "Then exchange your secret for it, Ning Shuyin."
The two stood at a distance.
One had soft, wavy silver hair and exuded a chilling aura that kept people at a distance. The other had flowing black hair and lingering resentment in her eyes.
We were once comrades who trusted each other, but now the distance between us feels like an abyss that has suddenly opened up.
Ning Shuyin's heart was heavy.
What secrets could she possibly have to offer him in exchange? Should she tell him she's a wandering soul from another world, whose sole purpose is to bring other people together in love?
Everything is beyond words.
"I have no secrets." She looked up, and when she met his gaze again, her eyes had become indifferent.
"No?" Loran chuckled lightly. "Ning Shuyin, I'm not stupid. Do you think I really didn't notice those inexplicable suspicious points about you?"
He stopped approaching her, only saying from afar, "Your strange potion, the abilities you displayed in the K99 ruins, and what you did to me..."
He finally found the words: "a mysterious influence."
“I told you, I have no secrets to trade with you,” she repeated.
“Alright.” Loran’s expression was like that of a scholar who had completely lost interest in his research subject.
"Since you have no secrets, then I'll tell you very clearly—"
"I don't have Gu Lei."
After he finished speaking, he turned around and gave the little robot the command: "Xiao Lan, see the guest out."
"Permanently remove Ms. Ning's access permissions and add her to the blacklist."
[Master, command received.]
The round, white robot faithfully began to carry out its master's commands.
Ning Shuyin didn't linger any longer and turned to walk out of the cold private castle.
The misunderstanding has been cleared up; whether or not to believe it is Lorraine's business, and she has no control over it.
She told herself that this was just the real-life character design of male supporting characters in novels, nothing to be ashamed of.
But back on the aircraft, her eyes still stung a little. Gu Lei's sudden disappearance had put a lot of pressure on her.
Not long after, Muze sent a message.
The Sky Eye system only monitored that Gu Lei entered the research institute this morning and did not leave afterwards.
The news from Su Qianqian wasn't much better: "I checked all the indoor surveillance footage from the researchers, and it's as if Gu Lei vanished into thin air."
Ning Shuyin looked down at the magnificent buildings below from the aircraft.
Vanished into thin air?
