Chapter 68: Energy Reset, Patience Reset

Chapter 68: Energy Reset, Patience Reset

Ning Shuyin was taken aback by the group leader's reaction.

Ask her if she's a navigator?

She shook her head: "No, I'm not."

She hasn't verified it yet, so it's not a lie.

The team leader, however, wore an "I understand" expression.

After all, the Free Navigators of the Interstellar Alliance are usually anonymous.

His attitude has changed 180 degrees.

Respectful and fearful.

For them, even a "prospective" navigator is someone they, as grassroots staff, would never have the opportunity to interact with.

Those were all important figures serving the Starfleet and the Deep Space Exploration Legion.

A navigator's precious perception is meant to guide starships, avoid spatial rifts, and discover enemy weaknesses, not to help them spot which boxes aren't securely placed.

And he, just now, actually yelled at her?

"I'm so sorry! My attitude was terrible just now, I'm very sorry, Navigator." The team leader bowed. "If you hadn't reminded us, we would have been in big trouble today."

"It's alright, no need to be so polite."

Ning Shuyin was taken aback by the overly formal apology.

Her initial motivation for helping was very simple—

She didn't want to work overtime all night, otherwise she would miss the 7 p.m. movie.

Watching Su Qianqian and her husband successfully arrange their date is of utmost importance!

"It's nothing, just a small favor." Ning Shuyin smiled slightly. "Just be careful next time."

After that, Ning Shuyin went from being a "jack-of-all-trades" to becoming the warehouse's chief dispatcher.

"Navigator, please check if my angle is correct."

"Sir, your guidance is truly flawless."

"Don't call me sir, just call me by my name," Ning Shuyin corrected him somewhat helplessly.

After the initial panic, the team leader discovered that this mysterious navigator was not at all arrogant.

She spoke gently and had a kind attitude, and always answered their questions when they asked for help.

Gradually, the workers' awe turned into closeness.

With Ning Shuyin's help, the warehouse organization efficiency improved, and the operation became smooth and efficient.

One by one, the items were neatly returned to their original places.

Originally expected to be a demanding all-nighter, it was miraculously all done in just two hours.

At that moment, the system's announcement sounded.

[The host has earned 10 points for their ordinary contribution to the organization of Warehouse B18.]

Ning Shuyin unintentionally completed a navigation task and earned 10 points.

The team leader was clearly very happy. He rummaged through the tool cabinet and pulled out a portable cooler, then waved to Ning Shuyin.

"Miss Ning, we are so grateful to have you here today. You are truly our lucky star. Since we've finished work early, let's have a drink together!"

A group of workers enthusiastically gathered around.

They spread a clean cloth over several shipping boxes and placed chilled beer and snacks such as flavored crispy chips and dried bird wings on them.

"Don't be shy, just have something to eat."

Unable to refuse such hospitality, and with plenty of time to spare, Ning Shuyin sat down.

She knew she couldn't hold her liquor.

But looking at the workers' simple and warm faces and their pure kindness, she still accepted the chilled beer.

The beer in this world is surprisingly delicious.

After several rounds of drinks, Ning Shuyin was slightly tipsy.

The workers were chatting about everyday things and telling jokes.

The guidance she just received almost exhausted her supernatural abilities.

At that moment, she felt very sleepy, so she found a relatively quiet corner, leaned against the box, and her eyelids grew heavier and heavier until she gradually fell asleep.

After a while, the team leader checked the time.

"Alright, alright, it's 5:30, time to go home! I haven't experienced this kind of waiting-to-leave-get off work-day in decades."

The group began to clean up the mess.

The young worker glanced at the corner where Ning Shuyin was sleeping.

But her view was blocked by several tall boxes, so she wasn't seen.

"Team leader, what about that navigator lady?" he asked.

"They probably left early." The team leader didn't think much of it. "Alright, start the end-of-day review process, let's go home."

A team of people walked to the control panel at the warehouse entrance and entered the call-to-work command.

[WARNING! The end-of-day gravity balancing process has been initiated. The warehouse will undergo a spatial flip in three minutes. All personnel are requested to evacuate immediately.]

The prompt voice echoed inside the warehouse.

The workers walked out of the warehouse as if it were a routine.

The heavy metal doors slowly closed, and the warehouse's main lights went out.

Blue guide lights illuminated the six sides of the cube warehouse.

Immediately afterwards, the entire warehouse began to slowly rotate and recombine, like a giant Rubik's Cube.

The cargo boxes, which had been neatly arranged, were repositioned by the program and eventually adjusted to an angle where the overall stress was most stable and the magnetic energy consumption was lowest.

The corner where Ning Shuyin was located was transformed into a dead end suspended in mid-air, completely sealed off by a huge metal box, as the floor and walls flipped over.

A soft "click" sound.

Once all modules are in their new positions, the warehouse looks completely restructured.

...

After an unknown amount of time, a hurried voice rang in Ning Shuyin's mind.

[Host! Can you hear me? Wake up!]

[Host, you've overused your energy. Quickly find some supplements!]

[Host, don't fall asleep here! Wake up, host! You're locked in the warehouse!]

The system's voice sounded anxious, trying to forcibly wake Ning Shuyin from her sleep.

At this moment, under the influence of alcohol and the excessive consumption of her superpowers, Ning Shuyin felt as heavy as a thousand pounds on her eyelids.

With the system constantly calling out to her, she finally managed to open her eyes with difficulty.

She moved her body and was horrified to discover that she was stuck in an extremely small space.

All around her were cold, hard metal walls, trapping her firmly in place.

She tried to raise her wrist to look at the personal terminal, but found that she couldn't even do this simple action.

"What's going on...?"

A dark space.

A wave of weakness washed over me.

All she remembered was drinking some alcohol with the workers, and then... and then she fell asleep.

Is this a warehouse?

[Host, the warehouse has initiated its end-of-day gravity balancing procedure. You are trapped in a pile of boxes! Furthermore, this warehouse is a magnetic chamber, blocking all communication signals.]

The system explained to her.

A desperate situation.

This was the first word that flashed through Ning Shuyin's mind.

However, she was not one to sit idly by and wait for death.

She tried to calm herself down, focused her remaining, weak supernatural abilities, and activated her perception.

This slightest perception was far too weak.

She only noticed the box at her feet, the one closest to her, which seemed to have a movable lid.

It was some kind of old-fashioned snap-on top cover.

The only way out right now.

Ning Shuyin mustered all her strength, slightly curled her legs, and kicked hard at the cover plate.

"Bang!"

A deep, muffled thud echoed through the quiet space.

The clip is loose.

She gritted her teeth and exerted her strength again.

"Bang!"

“哢”.

With a crisp metallic clang, she finally kicked the cover open.

Without the slightest hesitation, Ning Shuyin moved her body and slid into the box.

This is a new, dark, open space.

The box is very large.

Just as she was feeling around on the sides of the box, trying to find any other possible gaps—

"Clatter".

The cover she had just kicked off bounced back into place.

The space became enclosed again.

The same absolute darkness.

She... was moved from a cage into a "coffin".

At this very moment, outside the Rose Society building.

The atmosphere inside the black hovercar was slightly oppressive.

The numbers on the vehicle's timer have relentlessly skipped past "A-Star Time 18:30".

As dusk fell, the floating light strips along the roadside lit up one by one, casting spots of light on the car windows.

Situ Linchen stared expressionlessly at the building's exit, his eyes deep and unfathomable.

I get off work at 5:30.

It's already 6:30.

She hasn't come out yet.

"Marshal," Mu Ze, sitting in the advisor's seat, couldn't help but speak up, "I'll go and find out what's going on."

"Mm." Situ Linchen nodded.

Mu Ze immediately got out of the car and strode into the building. A few minutes later, he returned to the car, his expression somewhat strange.

"I asked the staff on duty. He said the Rose Club had already closed for the day, and if Miss Ning hasn't come out, she might be working overtime."

"Overtime?" Situ Linchen frowned.

Looking at the marshal's gloomy face, Mu Ze cautiously asked, "Marshal, should I go in and bring Miss Ning out directly?"

However, Situ Linchen did not nod immediately.

He tapped his long fingers twice on his knee, seemingly a little more agitated.

"Let's wait a little longer."
