Ning Shuyin sighed helplessly.

Now, she is in an unknown place. Without a personal terminal, she has no identity and has lost contact with the outside world.

"Kross, how are you feeling? Were you injured in the explosion?" Ning Shuyin turned to the man in black beside her.

When the assault ship was attacked, the command center was affected by the blast wave, and his black armor was damaged in several places.

Kross has a body almost identical to that of humans, and Ning Shuyin is unsure whether he has been injured.

Kross looked down at her, his golden pupils reflecting her image: "I was hit by the blast. But I can carry out my master's orders without any problem."

Just then.

Clang! Clang! Clang! A series of ear-piercing metallic clanging sounds rang out.

"Get the hell up! And get the hell out of here!"

A gaunt man in a tuxedo approached. He was enveloped in a heavy aura of supernatural power, twirling a field whip in his right hand, a sinister smile on his face.

He is an SS-level expert.

Ning Shu's voice was cold.

Behind him were several muscular henchmen wearing black combat vests, pointing at the cage and whispering something with lewd expressions.

From afar, all you could hear were words like "game," "get a good price," and "new pet."

Ning Shuyin had trained with Fang Yan for a period of time. Observing the gait and physique of these muscular men, she concluded that most of them were S-level experts.

The situation here is unclear, so it's best not to force your way in.

The gaunt man approached, his gaze sweeping over each cage as if inspecting goods.

Wherever his gaze fell, the girls cowered and hid.

"Why is there a man here? Did the manager just bring him in to make up the numbers? Although you're good-looking, you can only be food for my fighting beasts." The thin man looked at Kross with great dissatisfaction.

When his gaze fell on Ning Shuyin's face, his eyes turned greedy: "Not bad, this one is beautiful, she should be considered top-quality."

He pointed the whip at Ning Shuyin: "That woman, come closer and let me see her."

As soon as he finished speaking, Ning Shuyin immediately felt Kross's muscles tense up, and a chilling killing intent emanated from him.

Ning Shuyin reached behind her back and shook her hand.

Meaning, don't do anything yet.

Kross's murderous aura, which was about to erupt, was forcefully suppressed by her command.

His expression returned to its coldness, he slowly loosened his fist, and obediently nodded.

The thin man in the tuxedo did not notice the change in Klose's expression.

His attention was entirely focused on Ning Shuyin's face. Seeing that she wasn't coming closer...

With a snap.

He flicked the force whip in his hand through the air.

"You'd better wake up. Now that you're in this underground opera house, you have to accept the facts. You're no longer human; you're just assets here, entertainment tools to please the guests."

He arrogantly raised his left hand, revealing a complex controller on his wrist.

“See this? All the cages are covered in electric fences. If I press one,” he made a pressing motion, “you will all be turned into charcoal.”

Upon hearing this, some of the girls in the cage couldn't help but burst into tears.

Ning Shuyin stood up unsteadily and took a few steps forward.

"Very good, it seems you've learned the rules." The gaunt man scrutinized her face, which, even covered in dust, couldn't hide her stunning beauty.

“You’re the one,” his voice was filled with sadistic excitement. “I’m the director here. And you, for the opening show tomorrow morning, you’re the star. I hope your performance will delight my VIPs.”

Having chosen his target, the director, satisfied, cracked his whip and rode off with his men.

Once these people left, one of the girls in the cage finally couldn't hold back and burst into tears.

After that, cries of despair rose and fell.

Ning Shuyin didn't try to comfort them. She carefully observed her surroundings. Only the front bars of the cage were electrified; the other three sides were textured alloy walls. The walls weren't seamless, so Ning Shuyin leaned closer and tapped on them with her finger.

There was a makeshift washroom in one corner of the cell. Water dripped from the faucet.

The girls looked haggard, as if they hadn't eaten in a long time.

Only one girl didn't cry; she just bit her lip and clenched her fists.

Ning Shuyin shifted closer to her: "Where exactly is this place?"

The girl looked up at her for a long time before speaking: "This is the Lilith Asteroid Belt, a place called the Shadow Opera House, a no-man's-land in the outer star system."

Ning Shuyin thought, "It really is a lawless place." But at least it's outside the boundary, which is also her destination for this trip. It's just that the landing point is a little too far off.

She took out a piece of food that looked like a compressed biscuit from her pocket, which was actually her spatial ring.

He cut it in half and put one half into her palm: "Eat it."

The girl's eyes welled up with tears when she saw the food.

"What else do you know?" Ning Shuyin asked.

"The stage you're going to tomorrow, it's said that no one ever comes back alive."

What should the stage be for?

"Fighting beasts, games, auctions, and that's about it. In short, it's all about what people want to do for fun."

"How did you all get here?" Ning Shuyin asked, pointing to the other girls in the cage.

"I came here because my family's investments failed." The girl couldn't help but tear up as she said this.

“Some of them were sold here by their families, or they were tricked into coming here,” the girl continued. “Anyway, people are taken away from the cages every day, and new faces are brought in.”

Ning Shuyin remained silent and stuffed the remaining half of the cookie into the girl's hand.

Gradually, the girls' cries turned into low sobs, or into the ramblings of nightmares in a half-asleep state.

Ning Shuyin put the empty bottle of her superpower replenishment back into her spatial ring and withdrew her perception.

Klose leaned closer, but he didn't touch her. He just stood there quietly, like a wall blocking her way and separating her from her surroundings.

“Master, I will stay here to protect you. You can rest.” His voice was steady.

However, a chilling coldness spread through her, and Ning Shuyin felt goosebumps rise on the back of her hands, her teeth chattering slightly.

She frowned slightly: "Cross, could you... move a little further away? It's too cold around you."

“This is my protective energy field,” Kross explained. “It’s similar to the special abilities training of your Perseid warriors. My energy field can both protect you and allow me to maintain a state of passive training at all times.”

His eyes still shone brightly in the darkness.

Ning Shuyin moved a little further away.

Clos had been observing her expression and seemed to sense her discomfort.

“I can temporarily remove this energy field. But could you help me cultivate once later to replenish the energy I lost?” he said calmly.

His words concealed a meaning known only to himself.

Ning Shuyin saw his fingers tighten, as if he was waiting for her answer.

“Cultivation? Sure,” she replied.

Although she didn't understand why Kross, who should be a powerhouse no less than SSS-level, needed her help in his cultivation.

Upon receiving her promise, the icy energy field around Klose immediately dissipated.

"Will your people come looking for you?" she asked him as she drifted off to sleep.

Klose's face stiffened.

He remained silent for a long time in the darkness.

"No," he said.

After she fell asleep, Cross took out a metal object that looked like a pen from his pocket.
