Is Chapter 138 meant to be a gift for me?

Is Chapter 138 meant to be a gift for me?

A black and white maid outfit floated lightly to the ground.

Ning Shuyin's breath hitched. With lightning speed, she grabbed the maid outfit, crumpled it into a ball, and stuffed it into her bag.

Situ Linchen's gaze, however, was fixed on the ground. There lay quietly a small, gleaming black leather whip.

Ning Shuyin felt her vision go black.

Because Situ Linchen had already bent down and picked up the small leather whip.

He gripped the whip handle, which was wrapped with bright silver silk thread, and weighed it in his hand.

Then, I tested its resilience with my fingers.

He frowned and looked at Ning Shuyin, saying, "Who gave this to you? Do you think the particle knife I gave you before wasn't good enough?"

Ning Shuyin: "..."

Situ Linchen flicked his whip in the air, producing a whip whistle.

He shook his head with dissatisfaction, then suddenly seemed to discover something, flipped the whip handle over and looked at it: "Sensory Tide? What kind of weapons merchant? To come up with such a strange name, no wonder it's so weak and not tough enough, completely unqualified."

Ning Shuyin's ears burned as she listened.

Holding up an evil little leather whip and saying it's not strong or tough enough, can it get any more obscene?

But at least he didn't discover what it was, so there's still hope for her.

Ning Shuyin forced a faint smile and took the whip from his hand: "It's...it's not very good. I'll throw it away in a bit."

Situ Linchen nodded in satisfaction.

Ning Shuyin threw the whip on the sofa, turned around, and went outside to move the boxes. Situ Linchen naturally followed her out.

Ning Shuyin picked up a smaller box and tried her best to wrap her arms around the bottom.

Unfortunately, the world's biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials are far too advanced. The box crumbled in her hands like tofu.

All sorts of colorful things started falling down with a "pitter-patter".

There were just too many things falling out this time; even with her lightning-fast movements, she couldn't possibly collect them all. Ning Shuyin's heart sank completely; only the words "I'm doomed" echoed in her mind.

Situ Linchen finally saw what they were: the colorful packaging had explicit instructions on how to use them, making it hard for him not to see them.

Ning Shuyin looked up and stole a glance at him.

Situ Linchen's usually impassive face, which remained calm even if Mount Tai collapsed before him, showed a hint of helplessness.

But in an instant, he composed himself, quickly took off his military overcoat, covered the items on the ground, wrapped them all up, and took them into the house.

"You stay in the living room, I'll take care of the rest." He took the items out of his coat one by one, placed them on the coffee table in the living room, and then turned and left.

And so, he used his coat to carry box after box of supplies into the house in silence.

Ning Shuyin hurriedly tidied up, while Situ Linchen stood calmly in the center of the messy "crime scene."

She felt his gaze on her, and her cheeks and ears burned.

"These..." he finally spoke, "who sent them?"

Ning Shuyin's heart trembled, knowing she couldn't escape it. Afraid that he would misunderstand further, she could only honestly confess: "...I bought it."

The air fell silent for a moment.

Situ Linchen's eyebrows twitched slightly. A look of surprise flashed across his dark eyes, which had seen countless battles, before turning into a complex and unreadable emotion.

"You bought this yourself?" He seemed to choose his words carefully, but finally asked, "So, you like these patterns?"

Realizing what he was thinking, Ning Shuyin blushed furiously: "No, you misunderstood. These are gifts."

"Give it away?" Situ Linchen looked at the pair of light brown cat ears on the table, and several potential "recipients" flashed through his mind.

Who is it for? Loran? Zhou Zhiheng? Or... Caesar?

These speculations inexplicably made him feel irritable again.

"Who is it for?" he asked, his tone displeased.

Ning Shuyin shook her head, looking troubled.

She bought the items on her own initiative, and if she told the truth that she was going to give them to Su Qianqian, she would be disrespecting her best friend's privacy and face.

But if it's for personal use or as a gift, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get through today.

Just as she was feeling awkward and at a loss, unsure of how to begin—

"Buzz—Buzz—"

A sudden burst of motor vibration noise rang out.

The sound came from one of those pesky items on the living room table.

Perhaps due to the earlier bump, it is now vibrating vigorously on its own, making a sound that cannot be ignored.

Ning Shuyin's hand trembled, and she quickly reached for the "disobedient" box. But perhaps because she was too flustered, the box slipped from her hand and slid directly under the sofa.

The living room was already extremely quiet.

The box had clearly fallen into a hidden place, but the vibrations were getting stronger and clearer.

Ning Shuyin's face was already flushed red. She stood frozen in place, wishing she could die on the spot.

Situ Linchen: "..."

The already tense atmosphere became even more awkward than before.

Situ Linchen's gaze was deep as he looked at the gap under the sofa.

He suddenly reached out, not to pick something up, but to grab Ning Shuyin's wrist and pull her a step into his arms.

The buzzing sound seemed to become background noise.

He looked down at her, leaned close to her ear, and said in a hoarse voice, "You said you wanted to give it to someone, but you couldn't say who."

"Could it be... a gift for me?"

Situ Linchen's gaze was intense as he looked at her, and a series of explicit images suddenly flashed through Ning Shuyin's mind.

She was clearly terrified by the fantasies she had imagined and tried to push him away to create distance. But the arm around her waist was far too strong for her to break free from.

As a result, she not only failed to push him away, but also lost her balance and fell backward with a scream.

Situ Linchen reacted quickly, reaching out to catch her before she could slip.

Ning Shuyin felt her legs suddenly lighten as he lifted her up by the knees and held her in his arms in a princess carry.

"So nervous?" He looked down at her.

“I’m not nervous,” she denied, trying to break free from his embrace. “Let me go.”

"Don't move around, you might fall."

She suddenly felt her center of gravity lower. It was him, holding her steadily, gently placing her on the sofa behind him.

As she landed on the soft cushion, her ankle stretched out and suddenly bumped into something rough.

Upon closer inspection, she realized it was the black leather whip she had casually tossed onto the sofa.

Situ Linchen loosened his grip slightly only after she was fully seated, but did not step back.

He braced himself against her with one elbow, his strong chest completely enveloping her. With his other hand, he picked up the leather whip at her feet, and casually stretched his wrist.

Ning Shuyin's eyes followed his every move. When her gaze fell on the hand holding the whip, she quickly withdrew it as if burned.

"You haven't answered my question yet." His warm breath was close at hand.

"What?" Her voice was hoarse.

Situ Linchen's eyes were filled with turbulent undercurrents. Ning Shuyin didn't dare to look at him.

"Is this a gift for me?" He moved even closer.
