Chapter 152 The Marshal on the Bed

Chapter 152 The Marshal on the Bed

The two girls clasped hands briefly, then quickly left the Star Palace.

Once seated in the aircraft, Ning Shuyin immediately dialed Mu Ze's number on her personal terminal.

"Miss Ning, what's the matter that you're in such a hurry to see me?" Mu Ze asked, his usual relaxed demeanor disappearing as he noticed her serious expression.

"Mu Ze, I'd like to apply for an expedition to the K100 ruins," Ning Shuyin said bluntly. "Also, could you recommend a trustworthy mercenary squad?"

Upon hearing about the K100 ruins, Mu Ze's expression changed slightly: "Miss Ning, that's a military restricted area. Are you going to investigate the ruins?"

"It was just a superficial exploration."

Mu Ze pondered for a moment: "I can help you apply for the survey and map, and there are also good options for mercenary squads. But since you're going to such a dangerous place, you can ask the marshal to send you an elite escort team, which would be more reliable than a mercenary squad."

Upon hearing this, Ning Shuyin gently shook her head.

The image of Situ Linchen's solemn expression when he discussed the alliance situation at her apartment last time flashed through her mind.

Gu Lei's relationship with the Alliance is complicated. She didn't want to cause Situ Linchen any more trouble.

Seeing Ning Shuyin shake her head, Mu Ze stopped trying to persuade her.

An hour later, at the Alliance's civilian airport.

The multi-functional travel vessel "Explorer" rented by Ning Shuyin has arrived.

Fang Yan, dressed in a tight-fitting outfit, led a well-equipped S-class mercenary group towards her from afar.

Ning Shuyin was somewhat surprised: "Why is it you?"

"Ms. Ning, I happen to be on vacation this week. It's my honor to earn your commission!" Fang Yan said with a bright and cheerful smile.

At this very moment, at the Yuanchuan Space Port.

Mu Ze stood respectfully in front of Situ Linchen, reporting on his work.

"Marshal, the fleet has successfully signed an S-class navigator, Miss Su Qianqian, today."

Situ Linchen's dark eyes were calm and indifferent.

"In addition, Miss Ning Shuyin has applied for an investigation of the K100 ruins," Mu Ze continued to report.

The long, slender fingers that had been tapping on the table stopped.

"I understand," Situ Linchen said calmly. "You may leave. Do not mention today's events to anyone."

"Yes!" Mu Ze saluted, turned and left the office.

He stood up and stood by the window with his hands behind his back.

——

The Explorer departed and quickly disappeared into the vast sea of stars.

After completing the first leap, Fang Yan and Ning Shuyin took turns resting.

"Miss Ning, it will take another six hours to reach the asteroid belt where the K100 ruins are located. I will call you when we arrive."

"Okay, thank you for your hard work." Ning Shuyin walked towards the rest area.

The aft cabin of this cruise ship is equipped with ten small rest cabins.

The room is about 10 square meters and can fit a single bed and a bedside table. There is also a small shower room in the room.

With a gentle flick of her wrist, Ning Shuyin removed her combat armor and lay down on the soft bed, wearing only a light inner shirt.

Perhaps I'm just really tired.

Since returning from outside the border, one thing after another has happened, and she has hardly had a proper rest.

The moment her head touched the pillow, she drifted off to sleep.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but in her half-awake state, she felt the spaceship seem to shake slightly.

Feeling very sleepy, she turned over and continued to drift off to sleep.

But not long after, she was awakened by a faint breathing sound that was very close to her.

My sleepiness vanished.

Ning Shuyin opened her eyes. What came into view was a handsome, flawless, and aloof face.

Situ Linchen had somehow ended up lying down next to her.

The lightweight mech suit was removed and hung next to her combat uniform. He, also wearing his undershirt, lay quietly beside her, on the outside of the small single bed.

"How did you get here?" Ning Shuyin asked him in an almost breathless voice.

The soundproofing in this rest cabin wasn't very good. The heavy snoring of the mercenaries taking turns resting could be faintly heard.

She dared not speak too loudly, for fear of disturbing those outside.

Situ Linchen looked at her astonished expression, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

“My date is going to check him out, and I’ll personally protect him. Is there a problem?” He turned to face her, mimicking her by lowering his voice. His deep male voice, like the sound of cello strings, floated into her ears, making her eardrums tingle slightly.

Ning Shuyin was at a loss for words.

She tried to sit up and create some distance between them, but he gently pressed his large hand against her shoulder.

"Don't move." His voice was still low, but it suddenly became authoritative.

His gaze fell on her, and he frowned slightly: "Your clothes are rolled up."

Ning Shuyin followed his gaze and looked down, only to find that because of her restless sleeping posture, a corner of her thin inner shirt had rolled up, revealing a small section of her fair waistline.

Ning Shuyin's cheeks flushed, and she wanted to reach out and pull him.

"I'll help you." Situ Linchen's large hands, accustomed to wielding weapons, had already grasped the thin corner of her clothes before she could react.

Her hand was a step too slow; her palm landed on the back of his hand.

He paused slightly when she touched his palm before continuing his actions, gently smoothing out the rolled-up hem of her dress.

A slight shiver ran through her as his calloused fingertips brushed against her side.

After straightening her clothes, he casually tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

“I brought you some clothes.” He gestured to a small box beside the bed.

"Clothes?" Ning Shuyin thought it was some kind of formal dress.

“Hmm, it’s a new S-class combat suit.” Situ Linchen’s gaze lingered for a moment on the ordinary-class inner garment she was wearing. “I gave you an S-class combat suit before, but when you were outside the boundary, you wore the white combat suit standard issued by the Loran Laboratory.”

“This time when we left port, we were clearly going to a place like K100, but you didn’t wear either of your outfits.”

Ning Shuyin looked up at him and found that his gaze had just wandered to her calves.

"So the one I gave you, was it broken, or... did you not like it? As for Lorraine's," he paused slightly, "it seems that something unpleasant happened between you and him."

Ning Shuyin's heart skipped a beat; he was not only observant but also incredibly perceptive.

She opened her mouth, but found she couldn't explain her current relationship with Luo Lan.

Seeing her expression, Situ Linchen didn't press the matter. He simply moved an inch closer to her and said, "From now on, you only need to wear what I give you. This new combat suit is black, and it's from the same series as my mecha."

"Thank you." Ning Shuyin thanked him, then quietly stepped back a little. "How did you get into my rest cabin?"

"Hmph, the security system on this ship is practically non-existent," Situ Linchen said seriously. "I'm conducting a risk assessment of where you're staying."

Ning Shuyin said with a slight blush, "Then there's no need to lie on my bed for the assessment."

He said softly, "This is the most reasonable space utilization plan."

Ning Shuyin: "..."

She gave up on discussing the issue with him and moved her body back an inch.

She forgot that this was a single bed, not the large bed she had at home.

Behind her was nothingness, and her body was about to slide to the ground.
