"That should be the research institute!" Nanfeng pointed at the abrupt fortress and said excitedly to Aya who was standing beside him.
"Yes! It's there!" Although Aya had never been to the research institute, there was only one fortress here, so it must be the research institute.
The two of them hurriedly quickened their pace and rushed to the fortress.
They saw that the fortress was actually built on a high mountain. Nanfeng and Aya hurriedly walked along the mountain road and moved forward.
All the trees around the fortress were cut down, and only towering trees grew a hundred meters away.
Aya was about to go directly to the main gate of the fortress to explain their purpose when Nanfeng grabbed her wrist.
"Aya, wait a minute, look over there!" Nanfeng pointed to a small group of soldiers not far away. Among them were some refugees. Those refugees lowered their heads and walked forward without saying a word. Behind those refugees were soldiers holding guns, urging them to go in quickly.
"What's going on?" Aya followed the south wind and hid behind a giant tree.
Those refugees were clearly forced to come to this research institute.
"We don't know the situation inside yet. Let's wait until we have found out everything before taking any action!" Nanfeng was skeptical about this research institute.
"Okay! But how do we check it out?" Although Aya also wanted to find out everything, they had no way to get in and didn't know what was going on.
"When they go out on a mission again, we can follow them quietly and replace some of them!" Nanfeng expressed his thoughts.
The only way now is to wait for the right opportunity to break into the institute.
Night gradually falls.
There are still patrolling soldiers around the fortress.
In order to conceal their figures, Nanfeng and Aya did not dare to light a fire in the forest for fear of attracting the soldiers.
"Nanfeng, I'm so cold!" Aya wrapped her clothes tightly, but still felt very cold.
At night, the temperature in the forest dropped sharply.
Nanfeng took off his coat, put it on Aya, and whispered, "Aya, put it on quickly!"
"Nanfeng, put it on quickly! Neither of us can get sick!" Although Aya felt cold, she insisted on not taking Nanfeng's coat.
"Oh! Let's go down the mountain first! Come back and have a look tomorrow morning!" Nanfeng looked back at the research institute, and after thinking about it, he decided to go down the mountain first.
"Okay!" Aya nodded in agreement.
The two of them then hurried down the mountain.
Fortunately, they did not meet anyone else along the way.
Nanfeng found a house, opened the door, and saw that the house was full of thick dust.
Fortunately, this place can at least shelter us from the wind and rain, and we can stay here for the time being.
"Let's find a place to sleep here!" Nanfeng turned on the flashlight and continued walking into the house.
Aya followed closely behind her.
Although most of the house showed signs of damage, fortunately the bed was still intact.
Nanfeng took off his coat and covered himself with it like a quilt.
Aya also clung to her, and the two of them squeezed into one bed to keep warm.
Early the next morning.
Nanfeng heard voices outside the house, and quickly got out of bed and walked to the window.
I saw soldiers coming out of the research institute, carrying supplies from somewhere, and walking towards the mountain.
Behind them were a handful of refugees.
"Nanfeng?" Aya was also awakened by the voice and hurried to the window to see what happened.
"Shh! Look, they are carrying supplies and refugees! This matter must not be that simple! Aya, I will find a time to go in later! You just wait for me outside the research institute!" Nanfeng was thinking in his mind how to exchange his identity with the soldiers in the team.
"No! This is too dangerous!" Aya held her hand in panic, firmly disagreeing with her going on the adventure alone.
After spending some time together, she had already regarded Nanfeng as her own relative.
She would never allow anything unexpected to happen to Nanfeng!
"Don't worry, I will protect myself after I go in! Besides, I have antibodies in my body, and the virus will not have any effect on me! I am a doctor, and I am the only one who can understand the information in the research institute!" Nanfeng held Aya's hand with his backhand and comforted her with a smile.
"Nanfeng, you have to promise me! You must come out safely! No matter what, your life safety always comes first!" Although Aya was unwilling, she knew that what Nanfeng said made sense, and she couldn't stop her like this.
"Okay!" Nanfeng nodded, packed his backpack, and went out.
Aya followed her, intending to lend her a hand.
The team of soldiers on the street were already heading towards the mountains.
"Captain, I want to go to the toilet!" A soldier in the team shouted to the leader.
"I told you not to drink so much water! Go quickly!" Seeing that they were already in the vicinity of the research institute, the team leader gradually let down his guard and allowed the soldier to leave the team temporarily.
While others continued to move forward carrying supplies and the refugees.
The soldier who received the order quickly found a hidden bush, unbuttoned his pants, and was about to urinate when Nanfeng hit him on the head with a wooden stick and knocked him unconscious.
"Nanfeng, quickly change into his clothes! I'll take care of this guy!" Aya quickly took off the clothes of the unconscious soldier and threw them aside.
Nanfeng quickly changed into the soldier's clothes, put on his helmet, and then picked up the gun from his body.
From now on, she would hide inside in place of the soldier.
"Nanfeng, you must take care of yourself! I'll be waiting outside for you to return safely!" Aya stood up and said to Nanfeng reluctantly.
"Okay, Aya! You have to take care of yourself too!" Nanfeng patted Aya's shoulder and hurriedly walked towards the mountain.
Fortunately, the team had just arrived at the entrance of the institute.
The team leader showed his ID and led the group into the institute.
Nanfeng wore a heavy helmet and held a spear in his hand, observing the layout inside all the way.
The interior of the institute is made of a special metal. No matter how powerful the weapon is, it cannot be destroyed all at once. This gives the people inside the center of the institute a chance to escape.
"Lock them up!" the team leader ordered the soldiers behind him.
Nanfeng also followed the example of other soldiers and imprisoned all the refugees in an iron fence prison to prevent them from escaping.
