Chapter 1: Disposing of the Corpse in the River

"You said you rescued me from the riverbank?"

The man didn't understand, but he nodded nonetheless.

Nanzhi tried her best to suppress the excitement in her heart and lay half-reclined on the bed.

Seeing that he meant no harm, Nanzhi took a small sip and swallowed.

The dry throat was moistened by the water, just like a rain shower on a parched and cracked field.

Nanzhi happily punched the corner of the wall, when suddenly she felt a dull pain in her head, which gradually intensified.

The sounds of children yelling and cursing, mixed with the shouts of a middle-aged woman, gave her a headache. Through the noise, she vaguely heard a machine-like sound, a "beep beep beep" echoing through the air.

Finally, she couldn't hold on any longer and fainted again.
