The night was as dark as ink as Wang Jingui hummed a tune as he walked home.
He was carrying a small bottle of liquor.
"What a damn bad luck," Wang Jingui muttered under his breath.
The fifty taels of silver he had just received were barely warmed up before he lost half of them.
He was still a little unhappy about having to give some to that old woman, Li Fu'er.
Oh well, that woman is still somewhat useful.
He put the remaining silver back into his pocket and tightened his clothes.
"It's the middle of summer, why is it so cold? This weather is awful," Wang Jingui complained.
The cold wind was blowing into my clothes, making them feel useless.
There were hardly any people out on the village roads at night, and Wang Jingui arrived smoothly at Li Fu'er's doorstep.
When no one was around, he knocked on the door.
The door slowly opened, and Wang Jingui hurriedly squeezed in.
But then they saw some people dressed in black and wearing masks standing in the room.
He instinctively stepped back, and with a loud bang, the door behind him slammed shut.
Wang Jingui's last hope was gone.
The person above wore a demon mask, baring his teeth and brandishing his claws, as if he could devour people alive at any moment.
Wang Jingui's legs were shaking uncontrollably.
"Where are the people you took away today?"
Wang Jingui trembled as he knelt on the ground. "Sir, I'm a good man. I can hear what you're saying, but I don't understand."
Ghost winked at the person beside him, and then Li Fu'er, who looked like a rag doll, was thrown in front of Wang Jingui.
Wang Jingui collapsed to the ground, completely limp.
"Still not going to talk?" The coldness in his tone was enough to freeze someone to death.
Wang Jingui still clung to a sliver of hope, saying, "Sir, I have truly never seen the person you are talking about."
"Cut off an arm."
"yes!"
Wang Jinquan struggled, his mouth was gagged, and one of his arms was placed on the cutting board.
Under the bright moonlight, the axe gleamed with a cold light.
"I'll talk, I'll talk!"
The axe stopped just an inch from his arm.
Large beads of sweat rolled down Wang Jingui's face and forehead; he didn't even have the courage to pull his arm back.
"Speak!" The person above was getting impatient.
Wang Jingui shuddered. "I sold her to Chunjiang Tower. I didn't do anything else with her."
The eyes beneath the mask were even colder.
"Walk."
Immediately afterwards, the group of people disappeared into the night sky.
Wang Jingui was suddenly covered in flour, and before he could stop himself, he inhaled a lot of it.
He thought he had escaped this ordeal, but after a short while, he felt unbearably hot all over.
When Nanzhi returned to her room, it was already past midnight, which was the busiest time at Chunjiang Tower.
The madam would then pass on the knowledge to the other girls.
With my possessions in hand, more and more high-ranking officials and nobles will be under my control.
A guard rushed in, "Mother, something terrible has happened."
The madam's expression turned cold, and she stopped smiling and walked outside.
"What's wrong?"
Guard: "The treasury has been robbed."
"What!"
"Who is it?!" The madam's red fingernails dug into her flesh, but she was completely unaware of it.
The treasures that were piled up to the brim were all thrown away, leaving nothing behind.
The madam looked flustered and quickly ran to another room.
They've all gone.
The madam was only thinking, "I've gotten myself into trouble."
Having seen the world, she calmed down.
Looking at the two unconscious people on the ground, he said, "Wake them up."
A basin of cold water was poured over someone, and the person slowly opened their eyes.
The guard checked on the other person and said, "He was beaten too badly; it's unlikely he'll wake up."
Madam: "Wake him up, or we'll all be in deep trouble."
Seeing this, the guard struck the man's chest without mercy. But even if he woke up, he wouldn't survive that blow.
"You two, explain carefully what you saw!"
Both of them were knocked unconscious from behind, and they couldn't remember anything.
"Wait, it's a girl!" someone suddenly said.
"Miss." The madam's eyes narrowed slightly, a cold glint flashing within them.
"Seal off the entire Chunjiang Tower and investigate thoroughly!"
"yes!"
Inside the room, Nanzhi was holding a chicken leg and quickly gnawing on the meat.
"Da Bao, Er Bao, San Bao, eat slowly."
She only got one leg from the whole chicken; the rest were eaten by the others.
The only decent-looking thing on the table is this chicken.
The others are far inferior to its own No. 1 Restaurant in the World.
Cherry warned, "Master, the search team is coming soon."
So fast!
Nanzhi put the three cubs back into her spatial dimension and tidied up the messy table.
Then there was a knock on the door.
Who is it?
“It’s me,” the madam said.
Nanzhi ran over and opened the door, smiling broadly as she said, "Mom, what brings you here so late at night?"
The madam was followed by several burly men who searched the room as soon as they entered.
The madam was also observing Nanzhi.
"Mom, what are you looking for?" Nanzhi asked, feigning ignorance.
"It's nothing, just a few petty thieves got away."
"You little thief!" Nanzhi exclaimed in alarm, "Have you caught him?"
Not yet.
Nanzhi quickly hid behind the madam. "Otherwise, I'll stay with my mother. That way, I can protect you better."
Seeing the fear in her eyes, the madam said, "Stay here quietly."
"just in case."
The madam interrupted her, "There's no chance of anything going wrong. Our Chunjiang Tower is very safe. By the way, what's your name again?"
"Spring Branch".
The searchers found nothing and retreated to the madam's side.
"Alright, get some rest tonight, and don't eat any of those."
They're all greasy food; eating them will easily make you fat, and then how will we make money for them?
