Nanqun was also getting anxious.
"Old Nan, you must be joking. There are so many rice plants. By the time you finish picking them, the rest will have been almost completely destroyed by insects."
Nan Qun looked dejected. "What else can we do?"
“Raise chickens and ducks, and bring all our ducks and chickens over here,” Nan Zhi said unhurriedly.
Nan Qun slapped his back: "How could you forget about this!"
The chickens and ducks we used to fight locusts were all kept at home. If we put them in the rice paddies, we wouldn't have to worry about any insects.
These two creatures love to eat insects. If they are starved for a day, they'll turn the rice paddies upside down.
"When we had ducks, the rice grew very well. The ducks not only fertilized the rice but also got rid of pests. But can chickens do that?"
“Then let’s just let the ducks out. Uncle, you bring all your ducks over here, and I’ll bring mine over too.”
Song Hanyan: "Zhizhi, why don't you chase the chickens over here?"
The other two also had this question.
Nan Zhi: "Once the rice has formed ears, there's a high chance the chickens will peck at them, and then all our efforts will have been in vain."
Nan Qun nodded repeatedly, "That's true."
They had planted some millet before, thinking of letting the chickens in to eat the insects.
If it hadn't been discovered in time, the entire two acres of millet would probably have yielded very little.
Nanqun refused to let the chickens get involved.
Jingji took out his notebook and wrote down the important parts of what Nanzhi said.
Nanzhi couldn't stand seeing him so sullen.
"Jingji, come with me later."
Although Jingji was puzzled, he would do whatever his master said.
