Chapter 27: Making a fortune

Watching the two slowly sink, Nanzhi turned back.

The original owner died without knowing why, all because of these people. Now she is just retaliating in kind, letting the original owner's soul rest in peace.

As for whether the two of them would live or die, that was up to fate. Nanzhi picked up the treasure beast and left without looking back.

She's no saint; she's always been one to seek revenge.

When Nanzhi returned, she found Song Hanyan at home as well.

There's porridge cooking in the pot, so it seems they got back quite early.

"How was it?" Nanzhi leaned forward, very curious about the haul from the eight wolves.

The girl suddenly approached, and Song Hanyan was caught off guard by inhaling her fragrance.

What does it smell like? It smells so good.

He took the silver from his pocket and poured it on the table.

"One wolf costs twenty taels of silver, for a total of one hundred and sixty taels of silver."

"Haha," Nan Zhi laughed twice, "I've made a killing."

Seeing her smile, Song Hanyan said softly, "Yes, we've made a fortune."

His wife is really something.

The wolf was killed by Nam Gyi, so the money naturally belongs to Nam Gyi.

Nanzhi happily put away the silver, thinking about when she could go to the city again, as her family still needed quite a few things.

Thinking of this, Nanzhi suddenly remembered something. She quickly returned to the house and took out the things she had bought earlier from her spatial storage.

"Come on, take a look." Nanzhi pulled Song Hanyan's arm and placed the clothes in front of him to measure them.

"Perfect, just right."

She had wanted to change Song Hanyan's clothes for a long time, but she had forgotten about them after buying them and putting them in her spatial storage.

Song Hanyan hesitated before taking the clothes from Nan Zhi's hands. "This is... for... me?"

Nan Zhi smiled and said, "Of course it's for you. Go and try it out."

"oh."

He took the clothes and went into the inner room to change. He was in a daze throughout the process, and it wasn't until he came out that he realized his wife had bought him clothes.

Nanzhi looked him over and said, "Not bad, I have good taste."

Song Hanyan's clothes used to look clean, but they always felt messy when she wore them.

The clothes Nan Zhi bought fit Song Hanyan's figure better, unlike the cumbersome robes, and wouldn't affect his hunting, making it seem much more convenient than before.

The clothes clung to the man's strong, muscular body, and Nanzhi couldn't help but glance at them a few more times.

If you're going to pick a man, you should pick someone like Song Hanyan. Putting aside his personality, you can look at his physique for ages without getting tired of him, and he also gives you a protective instinct.

"Ahem." Song Hanyan turned away, embarrassed by his wife's stare.

Even a man who is 1.9 meters tall can't stand such a gaze, let alone when the person in question is his wife.

"The clothes are nice, I like them very much."

Nanzhi came to her senses.

Huh? What did he just say?

Since Nanzhi started helping Xiao Li San'er, he has been coming over much more frequently these days.

Even the usually aloof Song Hanyan rarely gets jealous.

"Big sister." Little Li waved from the doorway.

Nanzhi skillfully took the grass he had cut and threw it into the rabbit cage.

Seeing that only Nanzhi was in the courtyard, Xiao Li San'er happily came in.

Perhaps frightened by Song Hanyan, this guy usually just leaves the rabbit grass and goes, but today he's unusually staying.

"Big sister, do you know that those two guys got beaten up yesterday?" Little Li San said excitedly.

Nanzhi asked in confusion, "Who is it?"

Little Li San'er leaned closer: "These are the two people who threw your love into the river back then."

Nanzhi: Of course I know, because I'm the one who beat him up.

“You don’t know, those two guys were in a terrible state. Not only did they get beaten up, but they were also thrown into the Taile River,” Xiao Li San’er said, getting happier as he spoke. “Although the ice on the river had melted by then, the water was freezing cold. The two families rescued Chen Siyu, but he was barely alive.”

"We called the village doctor, who said the river water was too cold and it was already a miracle that he was saved. The rest is up to fate."

Nanzhi: "They didn't say who threw it down?"

"They're both still asleep, heaven knows who threw it. If I knew who it was, I'd kowtow and beg my grandma for a proper thank you."

Nanzhi: Thank you, but I don't have a grandson like you.

As the two drew closer, Song Hanyan strode out of the room.

His face was gloomy, as if someone owed him ten thousand taels of silver.

"Big sister, let me tell you, those two are really something."

The next moment, Xiao Li San'er shut his mouth. Could someone tell him why Song Hanyan was at home?

“Well,” Little Li San’er panicked, “my grandma is calling me back for dinner, I’m leaving now, haha.”

Before Song Hanyan could come over, Xiao Li San'er scrambled and rolled out of the yard.

Nanzhi was still wondering why Xiao Li was acting this way, but when she saw Song Hanyan behind her, she immediately understood.

However, she couldn't understand what kind of power Song Hanyan possessed that made everyone in the village want to avoid him at all costs.

"Zhizhi, are you two close?"

Zhizhi?

Nanzhi's heart skipped a beat; her voice was so beautiful.

"Grandma Li was sick, so I went to see her."

Why did he come again?

Why?

She had no idea why. "Perhaps it was to repay a debt of gratitude?"

What did he just say to you?

No, Song Hanyan seems to be asking a lot more questions today.

“The gossip in the village,” Song Hanyan continued, still staring at her, so Nanzhi had no choice but to continue, “The Chen family’s child fell into the water.”

"oh."

oh?

What did that mean? Nan Zhi actually saw the grievance on Song Hanyan's face, which was covered by a beard.

She must have misread it; how could a man like that have such an expression?

She must have seen it wrong, no, she must have seen it wrong.

In the evening, Nanzhi picked two ginseng fruits from her spatial storage and washed them.

Since it grows from a tree in space, it must have regenerative capabilities.

"What kind of fruit is this?" Song Hanyan picked it up and examined it closely, having never seen a fruit that looked like a baby before.

“I found this ginseng fruit by chance on the back mountain,” Nanzhi said, taking a bite. “It’s very sweet, try it.”

Song Hanyan took a bite, and the sweet taste made him feel refreshed and full of energy. Nan Zhi felt the same way.

It's definitely good stuff.

The two washed their faces and prepared to go to sleep.

"Song Hanyan," Nanzhi said shyly, "I want to take a bath."

She knew it would be difficult, but it was a habit she had developed before; she couldn't sleep without washing.

Since there was no proper bathtub at home, Namzhi could only wipe herself with a towel.

Song Hanyan nodded and carried Nanzhi to the bed. "Water Baby, I'll go find a carpenter to make a bathtub for you tomorrow."

Nanzhi happily lifted the blanket and crawled in. As soon as she lay down, a burning heat pressed against her back, holding her tightly in his arms.

It's surprisingly warm, though the chest is a bit hard.

Nan Zhi shifted, wanting to get further away from the person behind her.

"Don't move."

Song Hanyan's voice was hoarse.

The woman in his arms indeed stopped moving, and after a while, he could hear her even breathing.

Song Hanyan gently kissed Nanzhi's forehead.

The sleeping Nanzhi frowned and muttered, "Stab people, get away."

Song Hanyan touched his beard; it seemed a little prickly.
